Does anyone know of free web hosting?

Hi folks,

I recently am undergoing a networking project in which we have to create some web pages and test them. But I want to try them out at home and am interested to know where are the free, minimal ad web hosters. I know of GeoCities, AngelFire and Tripod. Anyone else can help me out?

Do they allow outside linking?

I'm looking for a free web hosting site where I can put my sound files and stuff so I can link them in my profile. Geocities and Tripod do not allow this. Neither does Angelfire (the last time I checked).

Most sites will not allow hotlinking. It eats up their server resources. They don't like it.

You can check http://freewebspace.net for a listing of free hosts...
Or you can do a google search on free web hosts.

I've heard web1000 pops up not-so-nice ads. I don't know if they still do.
