• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

This is tricky and i am not asking for a diagnosis here but do you ever fear that perhaps the reason you are having blasphemous thoughts is because somewhere subconciously you desire to have them.?

I m not trying to freak anyone out but i wanted to get some feedback..

Is this ever a concern?

Andy, Andy, Andy, what are we going to do with you?????

It isn't that you subconsciously ANYTHING!!! You have the thoughts because you struggle with OCD!

It's OCD-land! It's that simple. Really. (Funny how you can so readily see OCD in someone else and your own spikes seem so real to you!)

You know what Andy, I actually had and OCD spike and I said something really bad on ACCIDENT, and my dad the pastor asked me "You still believe in Jesus and love him right" and I said "yes" and he said "then you are ok", God knows if something is from your heart or if it is OCD. Blasphemy has to be something you believe in your heart not something from your mind. Just keep praying and stop thinking so hard.

Basicaly what im hearing from you is that you are just thinking too much and just get over it ..

My question is is this ever a concern?
Ok, don't mean to brush aside your initial question. I personally have not ever struggled with that aspect of it because I dont believe that is the reason for blasphemous thoughts coming. I think they are solely borne out of OCD which gets into that which is most important to us --our faith.

Others may have and may be able to better address your question.

andy...this question is also a fearful obsession, but you are not alone in having this obsession. trying to figure out why we have blasphemous thoughts is par for the course for the OCd...Maybe we secretly hate God...maybe we are evil...this is exactly where the OCD goes...constant evaluating...constant doubt...constant fear...constant calculating of risk....we have to live with our own obsessions for a while until the constant exposure begins to resolve the constant doubt....

i am glad someone understands what i am talking about .

If you have intrusive thoughts and you know something of how the subconcious plays a role in youre normal thoughts then you do understand what i am saying .. the fear is logical and signifigant.

thanks boxers .
