Falling Away- A second chance?

If you fall away/ lose your salvation (-whatever you believe) can you come back? If a christian can lose their salvation, Hebrews 6 v4-6 indicates that once someone has fallen away/ lost their salvation there is no chance of return no matter what. Even if they try to come back, God will still throw them into the lake of fire.
So if you believe that a christian can lose their salvation can they ever get it back, or if you fall away/ backslide enough do you become a son/daughter of perdition?

In other words if a Christian ever falls away, does it constitute blasphemy against the Holy Spirit?

Discuss.

FIRST and foremost--
IF a person was ever truely born into the Kingdom of God(saved)
THEY CAN NEVER LOOSE THEIR SALVATION!!!
Jesus Himself said that those who the father have called to repentance-- no one can pluck them from His hands
^_^
In times past--
I have turned away from the things of God and did backslide.
But thanks be the God He lead me back to Him
AMEN!!

Hebrews 6 v4-6

This area of scripture is so mis-understood.

This portion of the letter to the Hebrews, was a warning to them about returning to the sacraficial system, the Law etc.- thus rejecting Christs plan. "it is impossible to re-new them to repentance" Why? Because their already saved! How do we know?

Hbr 6:1&2 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works , and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.

Hbr 6:9 But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation , though we thus speak. 10 For God [is] not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
11 And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:
12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Back sliding is not blasphemy. Someone who commits blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, has rejected God and would not want to come back to God.

Of course if someone were to die in a back slidden positon, they would be lost. So it's better to do all we can, to stay right with God. We know that we are going to need His help. When we are right with Him, He is right there to help us. If we are in a back slidden condition, they we have to go through all the effort, to get ourselves right with Him, to get the help we need. So why fall away and then have to fight our way back. Rather, let us fight the good fight of faith, and stay right with Him in the first place.

John define back slidden. We all live in cycles. That is everyone I know have ups and downs in there walk with the Lord. If someone said they believed in Jesus and latter said they don't, this is a head thing. That is they never got Jesus in their heart.

A born again believer has the Holy Spirit conviction of sin, leading in the ways of righteousness, etc. The HS job is to grow us as Christians toward perfection. Some of us are slower than others. We can even pull back for a time. The HS in a believer knows how to keep hold of us and bring us back.

God works with us in our trek with him. He never leave us. If we leave him, we were never his in the first place. A new creation can not become an old creation again.

Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith. He will not let go.

Amen--
Even if we do turn our back on Him (backslide),
He is still there for us and will just cause that much more conviction on us till we do turn back to Him

Yes, we must produce fruit. The seeds for the fruit are within the fruit. So if we do not have the fruit of the Holy Spirit in our lives, we can not reproduce that fruit in others.

The seeds must fall on ground that has been properly prepared. Jesus tells us about the seeds that fall on the rocky soil. Rocky soil can be VERY furtile, but nothing will grow, tell you clear the rocks out of the soil.

Matthew 13:20-21
But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; [21] yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.

People receive the truth with JOY, but they do not endure. They never really go on to get saved. Actually, there is a difference between a rock and a stone, but I can not remember what it is right now. Thanks, JohnR7
