The False Prophet of Revelation 13

Revelation 13:11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.

Revelation 13:12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.

Revelation 13:13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,

Revelation 13:14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.

Revelation 13:15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

Revelation 13:16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

Revelation 13:17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Revelation 13:18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

The first appearance of the False Prophet is found in Revelation 13. Although, he is not called the False Prophet in “this passage”, it is the same person, who is spoken of in others, who is called by the same name.

Revelation 16:13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.

Revelation 19:20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

Revelation 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

In the passages contained in Revelation 13, 16, 19, and 20, we notice some statements concerning him.

He is “another” beast, which distinguishes him FROM the first beast.
He comes up out of the earth, while the first comes up out of the sea.
He had two horns like a lamb, and spake as a dragon, with an unclean spirit coming from him.
He is cast alive into a lake of fire with the beast.
He is “still suffering” in the lake of fire, along with the beast, when the devil is cast in, more than 1000 years after he has been.

There is a list of things which is attributed to “him”.

He exerciseth all the power of the first beast.
He causeth the earth and all that dwell therein to worship the first beast.
He doeth great wonders,
He deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles.
He sayeth to them that they should make an image.
He had power to give life unto the image of the beast.
He causeth as many who would not worship the image of the beast to be killed.
He causeth all to receive a mark.

Notice that is thirteen “details” concerning the False Prophet. Yes, numbers in the Scriptures are “divinely placed”. The number 13 signifies “rebellion” in the Book.

Genesis 14:4 Twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and in the thirteenth year they rebelled.

Let’s “not” forget the instructions of Moses concerning false prophets in Deuteronomy 13. They teach “rebellion” against the Lord. The Bible is amazing, isn’t it? There’s more! Search and see.

Now the false prophet has been the subject of “untold” speculation and teaching. The “facts” concerning him are listed above as to direct reference of the person. Yes, he is an “individual”, a person. No references teach him to be anything other than an individual, a person. He is a man, who is connected to another “man”, the beast.

Yes, the author is well aware of what is stated by commentators. They “think” the beast is a system, government, church, and other assorted things. The Bible “clearly” defines beasts, as in Daniel 2 and 7 as “men” which are kings. Revelation is clearly the matchmate to the book of Daniel, and we will “abide” by what the prophet has taught, ALONG with John, who speaks of them as individuals, which are MALES, who are BOTH ultimately cast into a lake of fire ALIVE, at the same time.

The connection of the False Prophet to the Beast is a mark of identification as to his identity. The beast is stated “to
go into perdition” and “shall ascend out of the bottomless pit”.

Revelation 11:7 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.

Revelation 17:7 And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns.

Revelation 17:8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

Revelation 17:9 And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.

Revelation 17:10 And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.

Revelation 17:11 And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.

Revelation 17:12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.

Revelation 17:13 These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.

Revelation 17:14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.

The apostle Paul, in his Thessalonian epistle, “identifies” this beast as “the son of perdition”, who sits as God in the temple.

2 Thessalonians 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

2 Thessalonians 2:4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

The beast of Rev.13 and the son of perdition of 2 Thessalonians 2 are the same person for Paul and John BOTH speak of a mystery, which concerns someone of perdition, who is ultimately “shown” to be the FINAL “world” ruler before the Lord Jesus comes back to establish his kingdom.

The first beast of Rev. 13 is the “son of perdition”. He is the man whom the false prophet “causeth all the world and them therein to worship”.

But WAIT a minute! We have “another” son of perdition. Ah yes, you remember.

John 17:12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.

The Lord Jesus is speaking of none other than Judas Iscariot.

Now, the author was taught that Judas was the “antichrist”. This has been the teaching of Arthur W. Pink and Dr. Peter S. Ruckman. That is, he was the one to “sit down” in the seat, as found in 2 Thess.3. This theory doesn’t work. It maintains there is ONLY “one” son of perdition. It leaves the false prophet unidentified.

There has LONG been “no identification” of this false prophet. He can be identified.

The false prophet IS Judas Iscariot. He is the only “other” person called the son of perdition in the Bible. There is MORE THAN ONE son of perdition. There are two, as seen from direct statements. One is Judas and the other is a man who has not yet shown up.

Now this article will not go into length, concerning the first beast, but will mention some related facts, in connection to and in distinguishment FROM the other beast, the false prophet. They ARE NOT the same “person”. There are two men.

The beast is called the son of perdition, and so is Judas Iscariot. This is the first connection to the beast and false prophet. There are “two” which are thrown in the lake of fire, as seen. They are thrown in alive.

The argument comes then, that Judas has already died. God will allow him to be resurrected, AS he will Moses, to “reappear” within the week of Daniel. Yes, Moses does appear. The Bible “records” the details of Michael arguing with the devil, who has the power of death, ABOUT his body. (Jude 9, Heb.2) The Lord REBUKED the devil. Michael won folks. He got the body, and has something “planned” for it. (Read Rev.11) The characteristics of the two witnesses are Moses and Elijah’s, not Enoch! They’re “seen” in connection with each other and the Lord “too many times” to negate the truth. They will “both” show up again! (Matt.17, Malachi 4, Jude 9, Rev.11) They are representative of the law (the commandments of God) and the prophets (the testimony of Jesus Christ).

The beast withstands the two witnesses, which show up for one thousand, two hundred, and threescore days. (Rev.11) The false prophet will be there also BESIDE him.

Notice that the false miracle workers of Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses AND Aaron. (2 Tim.3, Exodus 7)

These “sons of perdition” are thrown in the lake of fire. There is NO JUDGMENT for them. One is never told that they are judged. These “sons” ARE “sons” of their father. Perdition is death and destruction within the scriptures, of which Satan has the power. They are his sons. (Heb.2) Now John speaks of this “strange and unusual” thing in John 8 and 1 John 3. (children of the devil)

Notice also at the fourth seal of Revelation (chapter 6), Death and Hell are “personified”. That is a direct reference to Satan and his angels being “cast out” of heaven, and “coming up” from the pit to “meet” him. (Rev.12, Isaiah 14)

No, don’t ask me how they are born. I don’t know. I do know what the Bible states concerning them though. They can be BORN “physically”, for Judas, WAS the son of Simon.

John 6:71 He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.

Matthew 26:24 The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born.

But NOTICE that he was NOT “just” a man.

John 6:70 Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?

He’s NOT the devil, which is Satan. He is a devil. There is more than one devil.

James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

Judas, the man, the son of Simon, was entered by Satan at the last supper.

John 13:2 And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him;

John 13:27 And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly.

It appears FROM the Book, that Judas was a devil, who was born of physical parents, who was CHOSEN for the particular task in betraying the Lord Jesus Christ unto his death.

He made a “covenant” with the chief priests to betray him.

Matthew 26:15 And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver.

Luke 22:5 And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money.

Do you “see” WHERE it’s going? That’s right! The book of Zechariah.

Zechariah 11:12 And I said unto them, If ye think good, give me my price; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver.

Zechariah 11:13 And the LORD said unto me, Cast it unto the potter: a goodly price that I was prised at of them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them to the potter in the house of the LORD.

Zechariah 11:14 Then I cut asunder mine other staff, even Bands, that I might break the brotherhood between Judah and Israel.

Zechariah 11:15 And the LORD said unto me, Take unto thee yet the instruments of a foolish shepherd.

Zechariah 11:16 For, lo, I will raise up a shepherd in the land, which shall not visit those that be cut off, neither shall seek the young one, nor heal that that is broken, nor feed that that standeth still: but he shall eat the flesh of the fat, and tear their claws in pieces.

Zechariah 11:17 Woe to the idol shepherd that leaveth the flock! the sword shall be upon his arm, and upon his right eye: his arm shall be clean dried up, and his right eye shall be utterly darkened.

The context of Zechariah is casting down of the money in the temple by JUDAS ISCARIOT. The events following concern “the idol shepherd”. A shepherd is one who is “watching the flock of Israel”, a “religious leader” among the people.

1 Kings 22:17 And he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the hills, as sheep that have not a shepherd: and the LORD said, These have no master: let them return every man to his house in peace.

Ecclesiastes 12:11 The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd.

Now it becomes clearer doesn’t it?

The false prophet “comes up” out of the earth. He is in “the land” in Zechariah. The part of the earth, that is, the land that he comes up in, is the land of Israel. This shepherd is of Jewish descendancy.

Judas Iscariot is a Jew from Kerioth, in southeast Judah, bordering Edom. (Judas Iscariot is a man from Kerioth)

He was the ONLY apostle, who was NOT from Galilee.

Acts 2:7 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?

He was a JUDEAN JEW.

Joshua 15:21 And the uttermost cities of the tribe of the children of Judah toward the coast of Edom southward were Kabzeel, and Eder, and Jagur,

Joshua 15:22 And Kinah, and Dimonah, and Adadah,

Joshua 15:23 And Kedesh, and Hazor, and Ithnan,

Joshua 15:24 Ziph, and Telem, and Bealoth,

Joshua 15:25 And Hazor, Hadattah, and Kerioth, and Hezron, which is Hazor,

Judas Iscariot is the False Prophet.

Still not convinced? Let’s go further.

In Acts 1, Peter “quotes” two passages in reference to Judas Iscariot. They are both found in the book of Psalms.

Psalms 69:25 Let their habitation be desolate; and let none dwell in their tents.

Psalms 109:8 Let his days be few; and let another take his office.

The context of Psalm 69 is the enemies of the Lord, while that of Psalm 109 is the wicked. Now notice a peculiar thing in the two verses (6-7) above the verse in chapter 109 quoted by Peter.

Psalms 109:6 Set thou a wicked man over him: and let Satan stand at his right hand.

Psalms 109:7 When he shall be judged, let him be condemned: and let his prayer become sin.

What you have is a “wicked man” set OVER him, and Satan at his right hand. In other words, you have the BEAST (that wicked, according to Paul, 2 Thess.2), who is over him, along with Satan, there with him. All “three” of them are in the passage, as seen in Revelation 16.

Revelation 16:13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.

Not enough for you?

The two horns on the “beast” are typical of TESTIMONY, as in confirmation of a fact.

Exodus 32:15 And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand: the tables were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were they written.

Hebrews 10:28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:

The first beast will claim to be God, while the false prophet will “confirm” by testimony that he is what he “claims”.

As Aaron was the “mouth of God” for Moses, even so will the false prophet be “the mouth” of the first beast speaking through Satan.

Exodus 4:14 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart.

Exodus 4:15 And thou shalt speak unto him, and put words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do.

Exodus 4:16 And he shall be thy spokesman unto the people: and he shall be, even he shall be to thee instead of a mouth, and thou shalt be to him instead of God.

The false prophet has power to perform great wonders and miracles in the sight of those who dwell on the earth. The apostle Paul states there are wonders associated with the revelation of the man of sin, the son of perdition. Now remember, this man is the beast, NOT the false prophet. Some of gotten him confused with the other.

This man’s coming is after the working of Satan.

2 Thessalonians 2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

2 Thessalonians 2:9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

2 Thessalonians 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

The text does “not” state that he produces the signs, wonders, and miracles. The ONLY person to have the signs is the false prophet.

Judas Iscariot HAS the power to work miracles. He has the “signs and wonders” of an apostle! Yes, I know that he was a devil, and so did the Lord. (John 6)

Matthew 10:1 And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

Matthew 10:2 Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;

Matthew 10:3 Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus;

Matthew 10:4 Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.

Matthew 10:5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:

Matthew 10:6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

Matthew 10:7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Matthew 10:8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

2 Corinthians 12:12 Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds.

Forgot about that, didn’t you?

Guess what? You’ve got a devil who can open the eyes of the blind? That’s just what was “asked” concerning the words and miracles of the Lord.

John 10:20 And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad; why hear ye him?

John 10:21 Others said, These are not the words of him that hath a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?

A devil most certainly can.

This brings to light another fact. The Pharisees accused the Lord Jesus of performing miracles through Satan. He responded with a “question”. He always did that to shut them up.
Matthew 12:24 But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.

Matthew 12:25 And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:

Matthew 12:26 And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?

Matthew 12:27 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges.

Matthew 12:28 But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.

You see, folks, the devil IS divided against himself. He’s going to fall. He can’t win. He’s doing what he has to do, to get what he wants. He “plays” all the members of his kingdom AGAINST themselves for they will ALL land in “hell” with him. That is “the depths of Satan”. (Rev.2)

Like they said, “there is no honor among thieves”. A thief will rob, kill, and destroy to get what he wants, even if it is “one” of his buddies.

We have a devil, Judas Iscariot, who has the power of the apostolic signs and wonders. This brings up the next interesting point.

According to John in Revelation, the first beast “suffers” a deadly wound to the head.

Revelation 13:3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.

Now, this author believes that he dies. He has to be resurrected. Like I said earlier, I am not dealing with the first beast in this article but the false prophet. Suffice it to say, that the passages in 2 Thess.2 and Rev.17, both, show that “this” son of perdition is killed, and comes BACK to life again. Of course, you follow my drift.

Judas Iscariot can “raise the dead”.

Matthew 10:8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

No, folks, not the “spiritually dead”, as I have heard people teach to DENY the verse. It’s dead people, as in the cross reference to the term.

Acts 26:8 Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead?

That’s “dead people” IN THE GROUND!

Matthew 11:5 The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

Matthew 16:21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

John 12:1 Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.

John 12:9 Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.

John 12:17 The people therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from the dead, bare record.

Now the author knows there are some who state that the devil cannot make life, or do things of this sort. The Bible “states” otherwise. We OUGHT to believe God rather than men, is what can be responded. Let it be said, that Satan, and his devils can do “only” those things which God Almighty GIVES them the “power and authority” to do. (See the book of Job)

Now let us bring one more item up and we’ll wrap it up.

The false prophet can call down “fire from heaven”, according to John.

Revelation 13:13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,

Now this is a great miracle. It has been performed before.

2 Kings 1:8 And they answered him, He was an hairy man, and girt with a girdle of leather about his loins. And he said, It is Elijah the Tishbite.

2 Kings 1:9 Then the king sent unto him a captain of fifty with his fifty. And he went up to him: and, behold, he sat on the top of an hill. And he spake unto him, Thou man of God, the king hath said, Come down.

2 Kings 1:10 And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I be a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.

2 Kings 1:11 Again also he sent unto him another captain of fifty with his fifty. And he answered and said unto him, O man of God, thus hath the king said, Come down quickly.

2 Kings 1:12 And Elijah answered and said unto them, If I be a man of God, let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And the fire of God came down from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.

It is a miracle performed by Elijah the prophet. But it ALSO happened earlier than Elijah.

Notice that Satan was given the power to persecute Job, and this same miracle occurred.

Job 1:12 And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.

Job 1:13 And there was a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house:

Job 1:14 And there came a messenger unto Job, and said, The oxen were plowing, and the asses feeding beside them:

Job 1:15 And the Sabeans fell upon them, and took them away; yea, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.

Job 1:16 While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and hath burned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.

Satan “used” it to destroy Job’s eldest son’s sheep and servants.

This “power” once delivered unto Satan will be given to the false prophet. Notice in Job, the servants TOLD Job it was the “fire of God”. They “mistook” the miracle, FOR ONE OF HIS. At that time, the fire of God would “fall” on the sacrifices presented to the Lord. You knew that didn’t you? How do you think Abel “knew” he was saved? (Heb.11)

Also an interesting note is that John, who wrote the book of Revelation, AT ONE TIME, “thought” him and his brother should call down “fire from heaven” to force belief on others. Of course, he was rebuked by the Lord. You don’t force people to believe.

Luke 9:51 And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem,

Luke 9:52 And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him.

Luke 9:53 And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem.

Luke 9:54 And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?

Luke 9:55 But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of.

Luke 9:56 For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.

Judas Iscariot is also associated with a curse, which is upon anyone who hangs, and dies on a “tree”. This makes him a “type” of the Lord Jesus in this aspect, who DOES hang on a tree as a LAMB, the Saviour. This fact is also seen in the “image of the serpent”, which Moses made during the wilderness wanderings.

Matthew 27:5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.

Galatians 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

Deuteronomy 21:22 And if a man have committed a sin worthy of death, and he be to be put to death, and thou hang him on a tree:

Deuteronomy 21:23 His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of God that thy land be not defiled, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.

Numbers 21:8 And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.

Numbers 21:9 And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.

The “doctrinal teaching” is obvious. People either follow Christ or Judas Iscariot, who are BOTH prophets; The Lord Jesus for God the Father, and Judas Iscariot of his father the devil.

This is exactly what the apostle Paul teaches in 2 Thess.2. After the removal of the man of sin, when that Wicked is revealed, the son of perdition is “accepted” through DELUSION by God, according to the coming of the son of perdition, which is by miracles, signs, and wonders. The false prophet performs these feats. They are believed.

The miracles Christ performed were “only” a testimony as to who he was from the Old Testament scriptures. They stated he would perform them, and did. He “repeatedly” stated that a wicked and evil generation seeketh after a sign, but there would be NO SIGN given unto it. This generation is the generation WHICH “accepts” the wrong man, who comes in his own name.

John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

John 5:40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

John 5:41 I receive not honour from men.

John 5:42 But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.

John 5:43 I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.

John 5:44 How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?

John 5:45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust.

John 5:46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.

John 5:47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

The man who comes in his own name is TESTIFED to by the false prophet, through his signs. Judas “gives” honour to the man, WHICH Christ “did not receive” from ANY MAN. The context of the passage is “resurrection”, the raising of the dead.

This is the miracle which will be performed by the false prophet on the first beast, who is wounded unto death. (Rev.13) This is the lie of 2 Thessalonians 2.

The testimony of individual acceptance of the beast is by a mark, which is prohibited by JEWISH LAW.

Leviticus 19:28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.

Judas Iscariot’s IMAGE to the first beast is the “sign” to leave town. (Matt.24) When “his people” come, they will set up the image. They cast down the truth, pollute the sanctuary, and take away the daily sacrifice. These people are “apostate Jews” which FORSAKE the holy covenant.

Daniel 8:11 Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down.

Daniel 8:12 And an host was given him against the daily sacrifice by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised, and prospered.

Daniel 9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

Daniel 11:30 For the ships of Chittim shall come against him: therefore he shall be grieved, and return, and have indignation against the holy covenant: so shall he do; he shall even return, and have intelligence with them that forsake the holy covenant.

Daniel 11:31 And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.

Daniel 11:32 And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.

The wicked prince of Israel is Judas Iscariot, the false prophet. He leads the apostate Jews into the worshipping of the first beast. He will be destroyed, along with the first beast, at the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, WHEN iniquity has an end.

Ezekiel 21:25 And thou, profane wicked prince of Israel, whose day is come, when iniquity shall have an end,

Ezekiel 21:26 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Remove the diadem, and take off the crown: this shall not be the same: exalt him that is low, and abase him that is high.

Ezekiel 21:27 I will overturn, overturn, overturn, it: and it shall be no more, until he come whose right it is; and I will give it him.

There are two “sons of perdition”.

One is a Gentile ruler from one of the four divisions of the kingdom of Grecia. (Dan.8,11) He is “the king of the north”. (Dan.11) His kingdom is that of the northern division, which is seen in Asia Minor. (Ez.38-39) The seat given him by Satan is found in Pergamos, Asia, which is modern day Turkey. (Rev.13,2) This man will be heralded by the false prophet as God.

The other son of perdition is Judas Iscariot, who is the wicked prince of Israel. This Jewish leader will herald the Gentile ruler as God. His “people” will PLACE the abomination of desolation in the temple, and START the great tribulation. (Dan. 8,9,11, Rev.13, Matt.24)
