RENO, Nev. — John Edwards and Hillary Rodham Clinton criticized Barack Obama's praise of the Republican Party and Ronald Reagan - an anathema for many Democrats, particularly union members considered crucial to winning Nevada's Democratic caucuses Saturday.

Obama responded by suggesting Clinton would be a "president whose plans change with the politics of the moment" as part of one of his most direct critiques of the New York senator yet.

Isn't it something that any praise of the man who even Soviets admit busted them is "anathema" for many Democrats. They can't even admit he had anything to do with the fall of the evil empire. It just like, you know, fell. Because of like internal contradictions and stuff. Or because like you know Gorbachev got up one day and decided to end it all cause he was such a good guy and all.

Republicans don't like FDR but have the good graces and honesty to admit his work to end Nazism was terrific. Same with Truman in his fight against Communism. Same with what JFK tried to do. But some Democrats just can't bring themselves to give the man who helped free hundreds of millions from Soviet tyranny any credit for anything.

that's because they opposed every single measure he did that ended up helping to topple the USSR. truth be told many repubs were against him to as his approval ratings during this time span were < 35%.

I think Democrats (like myself) are more critical of his domestic policies rather than his foreign policies. His tactics against the soviets were exactly what were needed. His economics and other policies here at home were not so great.

I might just point out that last night on the debates, when Hillary confronted Obama about his Reagan comments, Obama said he had never said the ideas were good ideas.
