To give a life

To set aside, the moments of life,
to run full speed to another's strife.
To be the one who is there to say,
"Please be still, Im here, its going to be ok".
To bind and tend the wounds of the world,
to be the ones standing when the flag is unfurled.
To know in your heart you will carry the scars,
of the pain of the ones who have died in cars.
That the lines on your brow have aged you in ways,
and no one could know what you have seen in your days.
But the smile you carry from the depth of your heart,
when somewhere in the life you give, you seen a new start.
The pager will sound, your hair will bristle anew,
and you will know inside this is the career for you.
Because you are one will give your life without doubt,
this is the EMS career I speak about.
No one will know, you will be gone when they look,
the scene will be cleared, your face like a closed book.
You can never say, you can never tell,
what you have witnessed today, you have been to hell.
Tears will be shed, words spoken in pain.
You will carry on, you will have nothing to gain,
but a peace will come and you will know how to live,
for in this amazing career its your life you give.

dedicated to those who give today
and those who have given it all.

Hi wunnerful !

A poem by Robert Frost

A Winter Eden

A winter garden in an alder swamp,
Where conies now come out to sun and romp,
As near a paradise as it can be
And not melt snow or start a dormant tree.

It lifts existence on a plane of snow
One level higher than the earth below,
One level nearer heaven overhead,
And last year's berries shining scarlet red.

It lifts a gaunt luxuriating beast
Where he can stretch and hold his highest feat
On some wild apple tree's young tender bark,
What well may prove the year's high girdle mark.

So near to paradise all pairing ends:
Here loveless birds now flock as winter friends,
Content with bud-inspecting. They presume
To say which buds are leaf and which are bloom.

A feather-hammer gives a double knock.
This Eden day is done at two o'clock.
An hour of winter day might seem too short
To make it worth life's while to wake and sport.

Hope your having a great northern winter
