Galatians 5:12 KJV
I would they were even cut off which trouble you.

I would think that a reasonable interpertation of this passage is that Paul would have liked these Judaizers to seperate themselves off into their own group, rather than to trouble the new converts. But some of the "modern" interpertations have it a bit different then that"

Galatians 5:12 NIV
As for those agitators, I wish they would go the whole way and emasculate themselves!

What do you think Paul was saying in this passage?

Thank you so much, JohnR7, for this illustration.

I have 8 versions of the Bible which I like to compare. And, you've pointed out the TRAGEDY of translations. How AWFUL, isn't it?

I much prefer versions that are TRUE to the original text, as much as possible. I can't stand amplification or 'modernization'. In my opinion, it adulterates the good message.

My favorite version is Lamsa. Here's how Dr. George Lamsa phrased it:
Galatians 5:12 Lamsa
I wish those who are troubling you would be expelled.

Thanks again, John, for the caveat. Let the reader beware.

How do I do it? There is only one answer as a Christian, we die to self. So Christ can live in us.

I believe God began a work in my life when I was about 12 years old. There were times I got way far away from God. But He just kept waiting for me, to yield even a little bit so He could continue to do the work He wants to do in me.

He seems to have a starting point with us in our lives and a place He is wanting to get us to. It just amazes me how patient and loveing He is with us. I would give up on me 100 times over, but He does not ever seem to give up on us.

For me it seems impossible that I will ever be the person that I should be. But for Him, He does not think it is so difficult. He just needs for us to give Him a little bit of something to work with.

Thanks so very much, I really do appreciate the encouragement.

I was thinking today that our objective is suppose to be to get people to look at Jesus. Far to often we try to draw attention to ourself, when really we should be trying to draw attention to Jesus.
