The words of the LORD are pure words:
as silver tired in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
Thou shalt keep them, O LORD,
thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever

I love that quote - so beautifully a demonstration of how easy it is to misinterpret a given text.

"thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever" refers to what? The Lord's words? No - the innocent who are being oppressed.

God makes a promise in verse 5 of psalms 12 - "I will now arise," says the Lord "I will protect them from those who malign them." To these words David replies, that the words of the Lord are flawless - and then goes on to say that the Lord will keep the oppressed safe.

This passage does not address at any point, the reliability of scripture - but the reliability of God's promise.

Whoa...

I'd say without the resurrection of Christ we'd have no salvation...

You can put your faith in a book, I'll put mine in Christ...

And HOW may I ask do we know about the resurrection??
Or how can we know anything worth knowing without the Bible?

Greek vs. AV 1611

Where the Greed reads one way and the A.V. 1611 reads the other, rest assured that God will judge you at the Judgment on what you know. Since you don't know the Greek (and those who know it, alter it to suit themselves), you had better go by the A.V. 1611 text.

1. The Greek texts are NOT the originals.

2. YOU are not a Greek, and if you were, you couldn't find "the originals."

3. God showed Larkin, Scofield, and Bullinger more from an English text
than he did W & H, A.T. Robertson, and nestle from a Greek text.

4. If you HAD "an accurate translation" of the Greek,
it wouldn't make any kind of reading in English,
due to differences in idiom, sentence construction, and grammar.

5. The "modern" versions, in the "common language,"
are NOT from the originals, or even from the God honored Greek text.

6. If anyone led you to believe any differently,
HE IS AFTER YOUR POCKETBOOK OR YOUR BILL-FOLD.

Hmmm - neither is you AKJV 1611...

Lot's of people can read ed - can you understand what you read? - that's what's important.

my final words on this matter...or at least until next time when i know that i should hold my tongue (keyboard) and yet do not.

Compare your favorite 'bible' with these verses to see if your 'bible' is truly 100% the Word of God. These verses are only a few of the 'biggies' that the scholars go after. If your verses do not match the verses as listed here, may I suggest you consider opening your eyes to the biggest deception that has taken place with God's people since Eve was deceived by the Devil . These verses were taken from a King James 1611 Bible - and we do all know that things that are different are not the same, don't we? Why the sudden need for these changes to be made? There is no need!

How can all those different Bibles be the same 'Word of God'?

Matthew 1:25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

Matthew 5:22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

Matthew 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Matthew 12:6 But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple.

Matthew 12:42 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.

Mark 9:46 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

Luke 2:33 And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him.

Luke 4:4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

Luke 23:42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.

Luke 24:51 And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.

John 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

John 3:13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.

John 8:9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.

John 9:35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God?

Acts 1:3 To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

Acts 4:27 For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together,

Acts 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

Romans 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Romans 9:5 Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.

I Corinthians 5:7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:

II Corinthians 2:17 : For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.

Galatians 3:1 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?

Ephesians 1:6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

Colossians 1:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

I Timothy 3:16 : And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

I Timothy 6:5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.

I Timothy 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

II Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

II Timothy 3:3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

Revelation 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

I'm not being obtuse, but someone will come along sometime and ask you why they must believe this to be a Christian, and will expect an answser from you.

1 Peter 3:15 [sup](KJV)[/sup]
[sup]15[/sup] But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

Give me an answer, ed, if the hope that lies within you is the AV 1611 King James Bible, answer the questions. Don't go back and grab more fluff from a website, but answer the questions:

  1. Where does the KJV 1611 claim to be the 'only word of God'
  2. What proof is there that the KJV 1611 was written by the finger of God? That the english words written were spoken by Christ?
  3. Where does the KJV Bible claim to be inerrant, and infallible.

Thanks,

When the Bible is inspired only in the "original languages,"
only those who know (or who claim they know) the languages can
read it, and then they become the final authority because
ignorant "lay people" go to them instead of the Bible itself.
Students of history will recognize that this is the same ruse
used by the Catholic Church and its "inspired Latin Vulgate" for
fifteen hundred years. No wonder, then, so many Baptists and
Protestants are eager to embrace Catholicism through the ecumeni
cal movement!

amazed look

That logic is more attributable to holding the KJV-only as the 'inspired scriptures' than to others that hold that other modern translations are sufficent.

Can't you see that?

For many years the Catholic Church didn't want the bible in the common man's vernacular... Guttenberg's press and courageous translators like Tyndale changed the tide, and started producing common man's language Bibles, while the Catholic Church demanded that it be in Latin.

Over time the Catholic Church changed its stance... perhaps over time, so will you.

Peace.

Religious leaders have always sought to usurp the place of God,
the Author of Scripture.

All scripture is given by inspiration of God,
and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
II Timothy 3:16

These religious leaders want control over Bible believers. This way, they can "have dominion" over the body of Christ and the Book!

In America, you have two kinds of Fundamentalists

1. Bible believing Fundamentalists who believe that the Bible they read, teach,
and preach is the Holy Scriptures--the living words of the living God;
2. Apostate Fundamentalists who use and preach the same Book, without believing it.
They "call it" the "Word of God"--meaning it contains a message from God.
