SoF, you're hilarious.

There are fictional stories with strong occult influences. HP isn't one of them.

It's obvious that you don't know the first thing about witchcraft or Harry Potter. Maybe you should stop trying to teach things you don't know about. It's silly...like seeking out a virgin for sex advice.

NOW NOTICE!!!

The magicians via the demons who were the source of their power, could work many of the same miracles as Moses was performing, via God. However, they could not create lice!!!

Only GOD can create Life!!! Awesome! :amen:

At any rate, you are sadly mistaken! The occult is real and it is nothing to play with!!!

AND WHATEVER YOU DO, YOU DO NOT INTRODUCE IT TO CHILDREN, WRAPPED UP IN A STORY.
[/FONT]

and yet you never show one shred of evidence that HP books are anything like the stuff in the bible or the occult.
you are just lying SoF, if you bothered to read the books in question, you would see this.

Avada Kedavra!!!!

nothing happens, do you know why? its not REAL!!

Unlike Narnia, however, H.P. uses actual spells from witchcraft in the real world here. The author is indeed promoting witchcraft, no matter how you want to spin it.

EXPECTO PATRONUM!!!

...where is my ghostly centaur friend?

REPARO!!!
.
...and yet, my glasses remain broken...okay, last one:

SILENCIO!!!

...and this debate is still raging.

If this is real witchcraft, I don't think Christians have much to fear.

Or talking to a politician about honesty.

I used to wiggle my nose and pretend I was a warlock. I used to put my arms together and blink and pretend I was a genie.

However, even as a child, I understood it was pretend. I knew that no one could really do that.
I put the ends of a broom on two chairs and climbed on to pretend I was flying. I got up again VERY quickly. It's painful to put your weight on a stick like that.

Mary GrandPre's pictorial depictions of Quidditch in the books, and scenes in the movies, do not therefore reflect anything that could happen in real life.

That's how I know, from personal experience, that anyone who says the magic in HP really works is a complete idiot.

Fact: HP is wildly popular among the kids and more than a few adults.

Fact: People need to be saved

Fact: Using the allegory of HP is a very cool and effective way to reach people for Christ. After reading the last book, I myself renewed my relationship with my Savior. The comparison between Harry's walking through the woods to Jesus' journey to Calvary had me weeping at the emotions and thoughts I never realized must have been churning through His head as He walked His death walk.

Instead of stamping it all with VILE and making people feel like they are foolish for reading and liking it, instead try to see how you can use it to reach people for the love of Christ. Because your rantings will not turn people away from HP. It will only turn them away from Christ. And you.

I'll bet you anything you haven't seen a single real witch, wizard or warlock outside of the bible.

Witch, front and center

That brings up an interesting point. HP is not witchcraft in the slightest. It's simple, harmless fantasy. I think anyone with much logical sense about them can see that.

However, supposing it was a book promoting Paganism. It isn't, but hypothetically, suppose JK Rowling came out tomorrow and said "Hey guys, it really is a Pagan book". My question to all of you would be "...so?" It promotes Paganism...cool. His Dark Materials is a (wickedly awesome) young adults' series promoting atheism/agnosticism. Christians have Narnia.

I don't get where this attitude that Christianity is the only spiritual belief that can write children's books comes from. I suppose some (close-minded) Christians might argue that Christianity is the only religion that is worth teaching to kids, but most of us recognize that's not true. Paganism has just as much a right to publish books, even aimed at kids, that promote their beliefs.
