• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I Lost my mom from Diabetes, she died at the age of 50, the nicest person you would ever want to meet and Oh how she loved to lord, but that was over 24 years ago, much too young for a young girl to lose her mother.
I went through it all back then , But it was she who felt the bi-weekly strain of dialysis, the amputations, the painful infections, things no one should have to endure,...........
I know If my mom where here she would say , help each other and comfort and encourage one another, and most of all pray for one another, ...........it is great and excellent way to gain
victory over Diabetes!!

Today I have a wonderful supportive husband 3 wonderful children, two grown and one 8 and this Disease Diabetes threatens our lives once again,

I really need my CF friends to keep me lifted up in prayer, I went to the Dr, last week and he was so certain , "Mrs,M you have Diabetes " but they had to take blood and do another extensive test to say for sure, well I recieved the results yesterday and No, praise God, I do not have diabetes, and I need no medication but my triglycerides are a little too high.
Still I must be mindful of the fact that I am borderline for type 2 Diabetes...........so pray for me that God give's me wisdom as I work hard change this, :prayer:

Although I am new to this part of our Forum,
I have much compassion for people who suffer with this, and there is so much we can learn from each other, Thank You ,
Nobella,

Have you tried the Sugar Buster's diet? It is supposed to especially for diabetics and I have found that it is the BEST diet to lose weight on fairly quickly. As a matter of fact, I am on it right now and as much as I know it should be a lifelong eating plan, I get away from it very quickly and then regret it. I'm not diabetic, I'm just a sugar & carb lover to my own peril. :sorry:

There are online resources and guidelines that might help.

Web MD- Sugar Busters

Glycemic Index Database

Common Foods GI values with explanation

I'm sure your doctor told you that exercise is key as well in helping the body defend itself. Walking, walking and more walking is the most effective and easiest exercise we can do. Your body will love you for it.

I just read your op post and read thru the thread. I praise God that your sugars are normal and doing well.

I'm type II, and I think majority of diabetics are in denial as we do not know how serious this is; as we don't see things happening; as happened to your mother; until it happens in our life or someone's close to us.

So, thank you for sharing.. as it helps me to take this seriously.

Had it 13 years approx I think and having some problems with ulcers and while gone; am going almost every 2 weeks to derm for almost a year now; as always fighting incoming ones; or sores about to be I mean..
