Please tell me what you make of this experience...

When I was about 14 I was at my local First Assembly of God Church to listen to a speaker. I went there with my "boyfriend"'s family.

Several days prior to this, I stepped on a rusty nail, it got severely infected, and I had to have the infected part of my foot cut out. It was kinda like a hole the size a a quarter. I was on crutches at the time.

At one point, the speaker said, "Someone will walk out of here better than they came in."

At that moment, without thinking, I stood up... without the crutches. My foot didn't hurt.

We went out in to the hall and unwrapped my foot. There was not a mark on me... I expected to have a scar... but there was no sign that anything ever happened to my foot.

Divine intervention? If so, WHY?

Or did I just heal up and fooled myself????

I personally believe that God did heal you, why? could be for a few things such as to show you that our God is a healing god, and that he is a miracle worker. Could have been to show you just how real he is. But, the true reason your looking for might only be found by seeking God and asking him.

praise God Almighty for His healing mercy!
thank you Lord for not allowing infection to stay in her body and for showing Yourself strong in my sister's behalf. You are the God of all flesh and of all spirits. we thank you for what you have done and we are grateful. we rejoice and give praise for your works in her life.

God did it because He is all powerful.
let me tell you something. i have a pathology report from a surgery that says that "it appears that prior surgery had been done".
no surgery had been done by any doctor, prior to that one. God had been there first and because of that, i am alive and will continue to live. i know what God can do.
no, you did not heal up and fool yourself. yes, you healed, God has created our bodies to heal themselves under the right conditions. he also uses doctors, surgeons, medicines, herbs and anything else that He chooses to use. he can use mud. he can use water. He is GOD.
let God be true and every man a liar.
praise GOD!!!

Ps. 62: 10-12
10 Do not trust in oppression,
Nor vainly hope in robbery;
If riches increase,
Do not set your heart on them.

11 God has spoken once,
Twice I have heard this:
That power belongs to God.
12 Also to You, O Lord, belongs mercy;
For You render to each one according to his work.

*i posted it in context because our pastor gets on us for quoting the Word out of context in print. it is his pet peeve. God bless you Pastor!

Ya know... it's funny.... it happened almost 20 years ago, but i still remember it... and have told people about it over the years. I usually tell people that they can decide for themselves why they think there was no mark on my foot. The doctor told me that he dug in about a quarter of an inch deep. So imagine a hole a quarter inch deep and about as round as a quarter leaving no mark after only a few days.

But in all the years that have passed, I never could come up with a reason WHY.

Interesting point of view. Thank you for sharing....

I also tend to over-think things...
I just wanted to let you know that I do believe that God healed you on that day. I thank God for the experience that you had.

But in all the years that have passed, I never could come up with a reason WHY.

Romans 9:15 states:
"I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion."

Sometimes we don't need to know why, but we tell others of the goodness of the Lord.

Your story reminded me of the similar incident that happened to my wife (Linda) over 27 years ago. We were in PA at an outdoor Jesus festival (we weren't married yet). She sprained her foot pretty bad that morning and the folks at the medical tent told her to ice it and keep it elevated (yea right, we're day 2 in a 4 day camping event in the mountains of Pennsylvania :sigh: ). Her foot swelled twice its size and an ugly black blue yellow purple and couldn't put any pressure on it. While she was there, one of the guest speakers was brought in for a broken foot that happened whie he was hiking up the mountain at this event. While they were working on him, she hobbled out with the help of one of the girls that came with us (we went in a group of about 12 - 15). They went to the main stage where the speaker with the broken foot was suppose to be at for that morning. The speaker to fill in for him was Mike Evans from TX. He spoke for about 30 minutes and then felt led to have a healing service. He called out different things and people were coming up and claimed that healing for them. At that time my Linda didn't believe in any type of divine healing at all. She thought these types of preachers were hucksters. He called out that a foot was being healed, and the girl that was with Linda looked at her and had her put pressure on the foot. There was no pain, she walked on it and jumped on it and it was fine. It was swollen twice its size, and still an ugly black blue yellow and purple for the next 2 weeks but there was no pain.

Divine intervention? Yes!

Why? For her it was due to her unbelief that God still heals today (btw, she gave her heart to the Lord the day before). Today, she still testifies about that incident.
For you, only you can answer that.
Did you have doubts about divine healing at that time? As you have shown, you still testify about the day God intervened in in your life in a dramatic way.

God is real, and his way have not changed, He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

He healed your foot because He loves you, and to show you that He is still God and still in power. He healed you as a sign of His glory and grace. You didn't trick or fool yourself into thinking it happened (kinda hard to get around a hole in your foot and crutches in your hand...). He healed you because healing is the children's bread; it is part of the package of salvation. He healed you to reveal Himself to you in a way you had never known before.

He healed you because He is God and He is good.

amen, amen, amen ... lots of good posts here. He heals because he is compassionate and merciful and loving and for many reasons we can't comprehend, I'm sure. He doesn't think like we do. He tells us that in scripture.

A few years ago I had a huge sac of cysts on my thyroid. I was having trouble with choking on food and when I was sleeping. It was obviously going to be bad if they got any bigger and they were growing quite fast. I could not get any medical help (no money). I called my church for a healing. Within a few short weeks the cysts were gone and have never returned. It took me a long time to understand why he healed that but not some of the other things I deal with. I know now it was to turn me around. I was getting further and further from the Lord. How do I know that's why? Because I turned around. And so did my life.

Another time in that same frame of time I had a baby kitten. (she's four and a half now) She was six weeks old. I never knew what happened but something happened to her and she was in great pain for two days. I couldn't stand it. I didn't know what to do. Again, no money. I finally put my hand on her thigh and said, "Father, I can't help her and I can't bear her being in this pain. I know you can, so please help her." I don't think it was even a full moment when she stood up, jumped off the couch where she'd laid for two days whimpering, and went and started eating. Perfectly fine since. What I learned that time was the understanding asking for healing for others requires compassion.

And one time when my daughter was six she was very sick for days. I was in sitting on her bed trying to comfort her and realized it wasn't good. I felt like I was going to loose her becasue it looked as though she was giving up the fight. I told her I didn't know what else to do and would she like to pray. She said yes, we did, and just like that - fever gone. Everything ok. Not sure what I learned from that. It's likely the learning was for her not me that time.

Other times nothing happened. We just can't know why other than the basics. That he loves us, is merciful, etc. And I think that's where faith fits in. If we knew the whys we wouldn't need faith. I hope this helps.
