Nope dont care too. And will never want to know Mary. its a waste of time and against scripture.

Uhm, Andrew, your ignorance is showing.  It is Scripture, so how can it be against scripture?

Luke 1: 46-55

And Mary said:
   "My soul glorifies the Lord
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
 for he has been mindful
of the humble state of his servant.
From now on all generations will call me blessed,
for the Mighty One has done great things for me--
 holy is his name.
His mercy extends to those who fear him,
 from generation to generation.
 He has performed mighty deeds with his arm;
he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.
He has brought down rulers from their thrones
but has lifted up the humble.
He has filled the hungry with good things
but has sent the rich away empty.
He has helped his servant Israel,
 remembering to be merciful
to Abraham and his descendants forever,
even as he said to our fathers."

There, now you've read the Magnificat.  Hope you don't feel to dirty.

<P>The Catholic Church does believe there is support in Scripture showing that Mary is in Heaven:</P>
<P><FONT face="Times New Roman"><FONT size=3>As we see in Rev 11:19-12:1 <STRONG>"Then God's temple in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant was seen within his temple; and there were flashes of lightning, voices, peals of thunder, an earthquake, and heavy hail.&nbsp; And a great portent appeared in heaven, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars; " </STRONG></FONT></FONT></P>
<P><FONT face="Times New Roman" size=3>The Church sees that the woman clothed with the sun is a continuation of 11:19.&nbsp; 12:1 describes the new Ark of the Covenant, Mary.&nbsp; Until the 12th Century, there were no chapters and divisions in the Bible.&nbsp; The appearance of the Ark immediately precedes the appearance of the woman.&nbsp; </FONT></P>
<P>St. Luke also draws a parallel between Mary and the Ark of the Covenant in the account of the Visitation (Luke 1:39-52). Compare it to 2 Samuel 6:4-16, where David tries to bring the original Ark into Jerusalem. Both the Ark and Mary are on a journey. David dances before the Ark; John leaps in his mother's womb. David says "How shall the Ark of the Lord come to me?" (2 Sa 6:9); Elizabeth says "Who am I, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?" (Lk 1:43). The Ark stayed in the house of Obededom for three months (2 Sa 6:11); Mary stayed in Elizabeth's house for three months (Lk 1:56) </P>
<P>Examining Revelations 12 further, we see:</P>
<P><A name=re_12_13><STRONG>12:13</STRONG></A><STRONG>&nbsp;&nbsp;When the dragon saw that he was thrown down to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male child.</STRONG> </P>
<P>and</P>
<P><A name=re_12_17><STRONG>12:17</STRONG></A><STRONG>&nbsp;&nbsp;The dragon grew angry with the woman, and went away to make war with the rest of her seed, who keep God's commandments and hold Jesus' testimony.</STRONG></P>
<P>Who is the rest of her seed?&nbsp; Not Israel.&nbsp; While they keep God's commandments, they reject Jesus' testimony.&nbsp; The rest of her seed are Christians--us.&nbsp; Yesterday, today, and tomorrow.</P>
<P>So those who "don't want to know Mary," do you not want to know Matthew, Mark, Luke or John?&nbsp; Are we to ignore them?&nbsp; Are we to ignore David, Solomon, Noah, Abraham?&nbsp; They, along with you all, are all part of the family of God--the Body of Christ.&nbsp; </P>
<P>The Assumption of Mary does not glorify Mary.&nbsp; Rather, it glorifies Christ.&nbsp; She partakes in the promise of eternal life.&nbsp; And there is only one way to do that--faith in Jesus Christ.&nbsp; When a Catholic celebrates the Assumption of Mary, we are celebrating our belief in the resurrection.&nbsp; And, as I stated before, there is only one way to eternal life--Jesus Christ.&nbsp; Mary is an example, an excellent example, to the rest of us.&nbsp; By her faith, she shows us the way to heaven, Jesus.&nbsp; The Assumption is much deeper than saying Mary is in heaven.&nbsp; It is echoing what the Bible and the Church teach:</P>

You forgot the next verse.

12:2 and she was with child; and she cried out, being in labor and in pain to give birth.

So Mary is pregnant in Heaven too? I haven't studied this, but i get the feeling your reaching to make a point.

And 2 Sam/Luke 1 comparison. I just don't see it. Do you think that if someone would have touched Mary's belly they would have died too?

I don't see it as Mary beng pregnant throughout all Eternity, either. The woman who gives birth has a son that sure sounds like Jesus to me. And I see it as showing to us that the birth of the Son of God was a cataclysmic event that effected the entire universe. Remember, the Jews at that time had a very limited view of the world. While the Roman Empire did indeed cover more territory than any government or kingdom they had known in the past, it still was a very small area in comparison to the entire world. John's vision in Revelation shows that the birth of Christ was bigger than the entire world, than the entire universe.

And I would also say that a MORTAL WOMAN who would participate in such an event would be worthy of acknowledgement.

Peace be with you,

Forgive me if I repeat anything that has already been stated in this thread, but I am new to this forum as can be seen.

I'd like first of all to say that as catholic is defined here as Roman Catholic - I am NOT such.

Now to the heart of the matter.

Scripture plainly covers the ASSUMPTION (please not that in assumption, the person is being acted upon by GOD and raised into heaven while ASCENSION is an act of that person as in the Ascension of Jesus Christ) of three persons into heaven by God: Enoch; Elijah; and Moses are all scripturally confirmed as having been assumed for their close walk with the Lord. Now, if these men are going to be assumed for having been close to the Lord as prophets - the mouth pieces of God - how much more proper that Mary who's womb was a living tabernacle of the Lord Jesus Christ the Lord God almighty should be assumed into heaven lest corruption enter her body. What more, given that the early gentile Christians were for the most part Hellenistic and that the Hellenistic peoples were prone to worship goddesses, it is also fitting that Mary be bodily assumed into heaven lest her body become an object of worship for ignorant people.

God bless you one and all

If you wish to use that term I guess you could :) it works alone the same lines - a person not of their own volition, is taken to heaven body and soul.

What's also really fun is that Luther and most of the "reformers" agreed with the doctrine of the assumption. Yet, while reformed Christians believe they were inspired in OTHER issues but not on this one. *shrug*

I really like this stuff guys. This would help me with my problems with the last two Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary. Could you give me a list of Reformers that believed in Marian doctrines, and perhaps a few links? Thank you guys. :)
