The Boy Scouts took care of all the maintenance and all the expenses at Balboa Park. The services that the Islamic Society are to do are offer lectures on Islam at Roxbury Community College and help develop an Islamic library there. Were such a sweetheart deal ever given to a Christian group, the ACLU would have a lawsuit filed before the ink was dry.

arguing for what a group would do in a hypothetical situation. thats brilliant.

Community Relationships
The new center is directly adjacent to the Roxbury Community College (RCC) on a parcel of land that has been vacant for the past 40 years. As part of their agreement with the BRA for the purchase of the Roxbury property, the ISBCC will offer monthly lectures for the next ten years at RCC and will donate books to the college's library.
Both the city and the ISB hope the cultural center will attract Muslim businesses and residents to the Roxbury community, which could have an enormous impact on the area's economic situation. The center also agreed to maintain two local parks as a method of compensation to the city for setting aside the land. The center will also benefit the larger Boston community by providing a forum for interfaith dialogue and interactions with civic leaders.
so the mosque is more than a mosque, will provide monthly lectures for 10 years, pay some $200,000, and maintain 2 parks as compensation.

now lets examine the compensation package the boy scouts provided, and what they received...

he City has given the Scouts nearly seventy years of exclusive use of 18 acres of prime park property in city-owned Balboa Park for $1 per year and free use of an aquatic facility on city-owned Fiesta Island in Mission Bay through preferential leases.

and to get to the heart of the issue with balboa park...

"While it may be legally acceptable for the Scouts to privately discriminate against so many boys and their families, it has never been acceptable for the City to bar those families from a public park.

same link as above
so, the boyscouts were paying a total of $70 for exclusive use. these two cases couldn't be any less similar.

I don't need the hypothetical to make my case. The ACLU is always vigilant to ensure that government doesn't promote in any way Christian based or originated concepts, like intelligent design. Yet it sits idly by while government subsidizes Islamic lectures and libraries.

so the mosque is more than a mosque, will provide monthly lectures for 10 years, pay some $200,000, and maintain 2 parks as compensation.
The MOSQUE is a MOSQUE, is a MOSQUE! That Mosque will provide monthly lectures on Islam for 10 years and pay $175,000 for property valued at more than $400,000.

now lets examine the compensation package the boy scouts provided, and what they received...
Yes,let's do that:
After the 1915 San Diego World’s Fair in Balboa Park, the Santa Fe Railroad donated its Pueblo Indian Village to local Boy Scouts with approval by the city council... During World War Two, the military took possession of Balboa Park and the Boy Scouts launched their volunteer campaigns to help the war effort from a makeshift headquarters in a local theater.

At the end of the war, the San Diego City Council passed a resolution authorizing the Boy Scouts to take charge of several acres of land in Balboa Park.Through fundraising and volunteer work, a state-of-the-art swimming pool and 600-seat outdoor amphitheater were constructed. In 1949, the Boy Scouts Desert Pacific Council headquarters building was completed.

In 1957, parts of Balboa Park remained undeveloped, so the city council agreed to transfer additional property to the Boy Scouts for maintenance and operations. A fifty-year lease was signed with a rental fee of one dollar per year. With nearly 16 acres of leased land, the Boy Scouts soon launched Camp Balboa.

According to David Hodges, field director for the Desert Pacific Boy Scout Council, "The park is used by everybody. We run this portion of the park. We reserve it for outside groups and anybody's welcome to use it. We do all the upkeep of the property here, and we lease it from the city. All the maintenance, all the expenses, the landscaping, everything we take care of."

Groups other than the Boy Scouts utilize Camp Balboa and Balboa Park. Last week for example, the two-day San Diego Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Pride Festival was held at Balboa Park. The Boy Scouts have spent millions of dollars developing and maintaining Balboa Park over the years, without burden to the city and its taxpayers.

Forum Specific Rules will no longer be used!
Dear Staff & Members,
As many of you know by now, our new owner, LeeD, has announced changes that he and Staff will be making over the next few weeks. We hope this will be a time of peaceful change, as we have just spent a few months that were rather hectic. I’m glad many of us decided to stay for the sake of the friendships and discussions that take place at Christian Forums/Foru.ms.

I would like to make Staff and Members aware that we will discontinue having and developing “Forum Specific Rules”, aka FSRs for ALL forums here at the site. It has been decided by LeeD that this site will have a set of general rules only.

However, each forum is allowed to take the FSR’s that they have in place and develop them to become guidelines for that forum. This means that a member will not necessarily receive an infraction (infraction system is still being discussed I believe) for violating a guideline, but may be asked to have the post deleted, edited, or moved to a different and more appropriate forum. Staff will be moderating based on the set of General Rules that the site will have.

Staff and members should be encouraged to spend the next few days developing guidelines for the forums where they participate or moderate in. Remember, these are NOT rules, but can describe what topics should be discussed and in what fashion.

Another reminder from LeeD: “Congregational Forums wishing to remain safe havens may choose to limit debate to members of their own denomination, insist that all posts conform to their creed etc.” The Ecumenical Staff Team and the members who participate in these areas should work together to come up with said guidelines for the sake of that forum having peace and stability. As of right now, ONLY Congregational forums have this right.

Should you have any questions regarding this announcement, please feel free to contact a Staff member and we will do our best to supply an answer.
According to the rules, neither Peepol or Policon have the right to limit debate.
