Why Did the Grinch Want To Steal Christmas?
I always figured it was to see if he could.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas is my favorite Seuss story BTW - way, way better than The Cat in the Hat or Horton Hears a Who. Only slightly better than Green Eggs & Ham (but that has a special appeal at our house because our son's name is Sam).

The message (at the end) was Christmas isn't about decorations or presents, but loving each other.
Which the grinch also did at the end.

That was the message at the end, but I wondered how many actually understood the message at the beginning, i.e., the character and opinions of the Grinch.

An analysis of the Grinch goes to the "heart" of the real message for Christians.

Oh, The Places You'll Go is my favorite.

Why Did the Grinch Want to Steal Christmas?

As a fan of Boris Karloff, I enjoy the Grinch Who Stole Christmas every year. His narrative voice belies his roles in horror movies.

But I just wondered how others think about this perennial favoite? What is the (humorous) message?

Please answer my question, as in the OP.

The Grinch wanted to steal Christmas because he was full of envy and maybe a little greed. :(

Love his poor little dog!
