THE CHRISTIAN AND THE LAW

Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. Keeping God’s commands is what counts. [1 CORINTHIANS 7:19]

So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith. [GALATIANS 3:24]

The Christian delights in the law of God. Jesus said, “If you love me, keep My commandments” [JOHN 14:15]. This is the highest function of the law, to serve as an instrument for the people of God to give Him honor and glory.

By studying and meditating on the law, we attend the school of righteousness. We learn what pleases God and what offends Him. The moral law that God reveals in Scripture is always binding upon us. Our redemption is from the “curse” of God’s law, not from our duty to obey it. We are justified, not because of our obedience to the law, but in order that we may become obedient to God’s law. To love Christ is to keep His commandments. To love God is to obey His law.

For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so He condemned sin in sinful man, in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit. [ROMANS 8:3-4]

"Be very careful, then, how you live-not as unwise but as wise."
Ephesians 5:15

Good post. We all need to follow the law. It's how to live a good life. I think God knows what He's doing when telling you how you should live. I just thank God that I am forgiven whenever I screw up! Have a great day!

But as you think about what that means, it means that the law must be first written on our hearts, no? In the olden days when God gave the commands, the laws were "written" into the stone, by chipping away and removing parts of the stone. Either that or with a sharp pen onto the paper. Having the words of the law written on our hearts might hurt sometimes. But often the hurt is a good reminder when times come again. :) Have a great day!
