I am curious to know how the bible contradicts my understanding; where the "different meanings", you allude to, are that I might re-consider my understanding?
That atheists tell us that all the time. ^_^

Matthew 16:27`For is being about the Son of the Man to be coming/ercesqai<2064> (5738) in the glory of his Father with his messengers, and then he shall be paying each, according to his practice.
28 Amen I am saying to ye, there-are some/any of the ones here standing, who any not no should be tasting of death, till ever they may be seeing the Son of the man coming/ercomenon <2064> (5740) in His kingdom.

Rememberance

Modern Western: To recall in ones mind, to reflect on.

Ancient Eastern: To mystically revisit the event in question, steping outside of temporal time and space, along with the secular definition above. (Modern evangelicals have stripped the first part of the definition, as they have other words)
So, what is your evidence that Jesus was using the "ancient Eastern" term? Maybe, He was using the Ancient "Western" definition.

And, exactly what event would we be "mystically revisiting?"

What about honey???

Speaking of honey, a quick question since the church catholic is suppose to be the deposit of faith and handler of Traditions why is it that the milk and honey Tradition from the first few centuries has gone by the way side? Just curious?

So, what is your evidence that Jesus was using the "ancient Eastern" term?

That was the culture He was manifested in the Flesh to. Why would He speak to His disciples using terms that would not appear for nearly 2000 years and 10,000 miles away ?

"Mystic" is a linguistic "Wild Card".

-Otto, Your friendly Neighborhood Linguistic Mystic:cool:
What the heck is a "Linquistic Mystic"?

Luke 16:26 And in all of these, between Us [FAITH] and Ye [LAW] a great Chasm hath been established so that Those willing to pass-thru/diabhnai <1224> hence toward Ye not be able, no yet thence toward Us may be ferrying/diaperwsin <1276>.

Say bye bye to the Law

But, what language was it? Or, can you tell me what the word that Jesus used here was?

It's not really relevant. The relevant point is that evangelicals interpret the word to mean the neutered modern definition, rather than hold to the original intent of Jesus words as transmitted via the Holy Tradition of the Church.
