Russian Philokalia

There are apparently many "little" Russian Philokalias. Do they all exist in a set? Is there a single volume available that contains them all?

The volumes on St. Paisius and St. Herman are currently out of print unfortunately. I do recommend you get the others though. I read the volumes on St. Seraphim and Abbot Nazarius and they were very good. I highly recommend the Little Russian Philokalia. I just started reading the St. Theodore edition and that is good too. I'd hurry to get vol. 1 because I heard that it will be out of print soon also.

One book that is a must have for Russian Spirituality (also a text book) is the "Treasure of Russian Spirituality" by George P. Fedotov, I think it is two volumes and I have the second guess I missplaced the first.
It includes many Saints of the Russian Church.

Also this:

I know you were looking only for the Philokalia I thought of mentioning the above.

You got me of guard ...lol... I though you were seriously mad ...Yes those two books are quite costly. If I could buy them on a student's budget....Christmas is around the corner.... sure you can use books as your gifts...

at least you can compare prices. In general, used EO books can be vastly overpriced ... even when still in print. Just be prudent (saw an op copy of The Face of Christ in the OT, G. Barrois on amazon for 150.00. Guess I won't be reading it

Hey, my SF told me of his intention to put me in charge of the church's library after our temple is built. We're going to have a book store and a library.

Near the end of the year he is going to put me in possession of all the parish's books for cataloging, and told me to stop buying books because they've got myriads of titles....and I can keep them to myself... and read them all...as part of the cataloging process.

He has a friend who works at eighth day books, so I'll be making book orders through them as well.

Your friend at 8th day will be a great resource !

If you need any additional help, let me know -- on my third parish bookstore (one start-up and 2 expansions - my husband and I also owned a small bookstore for many years)

You need to get
'Maximus Confessor" selected writings By the Western spirituality classics By Paulist Press... it is excellent It has his life, trial, his 400 treatises on Love and many more. I think it has also some of his mystagory too... I will be honest I have never read it as I am such a slow reader but my DH wrote his Phd. based on him .... And by the way Thekla.... I noticed it was given to us on by your family at the day of your Baptisms.....
