It's a movie about the Bible, but family-friendly Disney Co. is moving heaven and earth to make sure the word "God" is stricken from some advertisements promoting an upcoming animated film on Moses and the Ten Commandments.

The funny thing is that the early Disney Movies (the live action ones, anyway), always showed reverence for God.

Anytime the kids want to go see a movie, my wife and I always go see it first to make sure it's fit for children to see.

I can remember when, if something had "Disney" stamped on it, you knew going in that it was going to be family friendly and you wouldn't have to shield your children.

Now, the stuff Disney produces is just horrific. If you showed half of that stuff to a kid on the street, you'd be arrested.

I understand that the problem is with the advertisement, and not the movie, but the whole thing is just another sad indication of how far that company has gotten away from Walt Disney's vision of a family friendly entertainment source.

What a ridiculous thing to complain about. The ads were edited to include the production companies name. Don't people have better things to do with their time?

The original ad named the cast and then said "chosen by God" as if that cast had been chosen by God. Disney had that removed. If it were intact we'd have a thread bashing Disney for saying their cast of Liberal Hollywood kooks was chosen by God.

Any way you slice it they'd be in the wrong I guess.

Do tell. Which ones of these Disney stamped movies do you consider to be horrific, and likely to get you arrested for showing to a random child?

Go and look up the films produced by Spyglass. Spyglass is a division of Disney.
Spyglass is not the Disney stamp. That is like referring me to something on ABC Television, which happens to also be owned by Disney.

Your post is misleading, if this is the rational you follow.

You can haggle over the details all you like, but the bottom line is that Disney is responsible for these things.

They've made three movies with disney:

The Pacifier (2005) (with Walt Disney Pictures)
Eight Below (2006) (with Walt Disney Pictures)
Underdog (2007) (with Walt Disney Pictures)

Even movies they have made with other companies aren't what I would call vulgar.
Miramax is also a Disney Company. Check out the list of movies they've put out since Disney aquired them in '93. The list includes Clerks, Pulp Fiction, Trainspotting, Cold Mountain, Kill Bill, etc. etc.

Miramax was the other one I was trying to remember. Thanks for bringing that up.

You might as well throw Touchstone Pictures in the bucket too, while you are at it.

Yep, you can't trust Disney for family oriented entertainment. You are right. I give up.

Are you serious? When has something produced by Disney been horrific? And I'm not talking about one of Disney's subsidies, I'm talking about movies made specifically by Disney. And if you mention the "SFX" thing in the Lion King then I will have no choice but to be amused.

Miramax is also a Disney Company. Check out the list of movies they've put out since Disney aquired them in '93. The list includes Clerks, Pulp Fiction, Trainspotting, Cold Mountain, Kill Bill, etc. etc.

All of which are quality movies. Except maybe Cold Mountain. That was mediocre. Really though, most people probaly don't even realize that Miramax = Disney. Which is probably why Disney uses the Miramax name; so they can make adult-themed movies without ruining the kid-friendly image of Disney. Sooooo, pointing out Miramax as an example of Disney trying to "corrupt our children" is a little bit loopy.

Yeah... this isn't right.

I don't see why God shouldn't be mentioned in the Ten Commandments. It wouldn't make much sense since you'd have to take out the entire first commandment or butcher it to the point of inaccuracy.

They took out the part that said the cast was chosen by God. Are people here upset about it because they believe that the cast was indeed chosen by God (like our president is:thumbsup: )?
