Christian
i beleive that it is, with great assurance.
becuase we are commanded of god to live holy sinless lives.
in mark 1.75
"....that we might serve him without fear, in holiness and righteousness all the days of our life."

it is clearly stated that that is the will of God for mature christians and nothing less, it is not Gods will for us to live in sin any longer.

paul thought it was a rediculous thing to see mature christians still living in sin.
romans 6.1-2
what shall we say then?
shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?
GOD FORBID!
HOW SHALL WE THAT ARE DEAD TO SIN, LIVE THEREIN ANYLONGER?
it is totally rediculous for a mature christian to continue in sin according to Paul and the word of God.

there is a blasphemous theory going around and in the minds of people today that we, even saved, cannot overcome sin.
for reasons like, the flesh, were not perfect like the father,
well never be able to rid ourselves totally of sin but be in a life long process, that only one person ever lived holy and that was jesus.
but before anything else, we must know and come to agreement that it is the absolute will of God to live holy and righteous and no longer live in sin. i could give more and more scripture, but 2 or 3 is enough.
it is not debatable in light of scripture whether or not it is the will of God, for us to live holy, and righteously, and no longer live in sin. it surely is, or nothing in the scripture is clearly understood.

people give many reasons why we cannot live holy for long periods of time, but we know it is the will of God for us to be live holy ALL THE DAYS OF OUR LIFE. it is not debatable.
i say this, "you are wrong becuase you do not know the scripture nor the power of God"

a number of reasons are given by people that we cannot live holy.
1.the flesh, or carnal man sold under sin.
but, the bible is to clear in romans ch.6.1-5
that we who have been baptised into christ, have also been baptised into his death with him.
and just as jesus rose again from the dead, with a new life unto God forever, we also, through the holyspirit quickening our mortal bodies, can live NEW LIVES UNTO GOD.

so that our old man, our past sins and humanflesh limitations could be crucified, and the body of sin be destroyed, so that we can live new lives, and no longer serve sin. rom ch. 6.6

people today beleive and have the mindset that we must serve sin, so they serve sin.
but we commanded to have the mindset that says "we are dead to sin, but alive unto god. that that old sinful life in sin is gone forever and now i must serve God being free from sin or anything against his will, in my new life." rom. 6.11

and here we have another very strong command of God that we must no longer serve sin, or let it rain in our mortal bodies, obeying it and the lusts of our mortal bodies. rom. 6.12

some people think that since we are now under grace, christians and apart of his family sin no longer matters for some reason.
but, rom6.15,16 says that even though we are under grace, no longer sin, God forbid we sin!
becuase dont you know that to whom you obey, you are his servant! either sinning making sin your master, or obeying god, unto righteousness as your master. even though were under grace.
and these are full christians too, or else it would not be right to say they are under grace, becuase they would not have not came unto his family yet and received grace.
serving sin, makes you a sinner, and serving god, is righteousness.

many people also that even though we are christians and born again, we are still sinners for we still sin.
there is no such thing, as a saint and a sinner in the same body, you cannot be both at the same time.
rom 6.20
"for when ye were servants of sin, YOU WERE FREE FROM RIGHTEOUSNESS!"
or, when you sin there is nothing righteous about you, or, you are free from the chains and bondadge of rightousness. you are free from all righteousness when you serve sin.
but we are supposed to be free from sin, being servants of righteousness. rom. 6.18

probly the biggest passage of scripture that people use to teach that saints are still sinners is rom 7.
were paul says
i am carnal sold under sin. v.14
i do that which i hate, and cannot do what i want. v.15
and so on throughout that chapter. but it is clearly talking about
pauls life still bound under sin, at one point in his life, these statements were true about him, and he making these statements to paint a clear picture of the bondadge people are in, who are not yet set free.
they are in this bondage by "the law of sin" which is in the body overpowering the body and causing it to serve sin and disobey the law, so that it must pay the death penalty. this the picture its describing all through this chapter. v.21-23
he says then, "who shall deliver me....?" v.25
and then is a mistake made by a copiest,
"so then with my mind, i serve the law of god, but with my body the law of sin" this verse should have been placed after v.23.
becuase it simply cannot fit between the first statement of v.25, and the begining of ch.8.
which says that the holyspirit has now made him free from "the law of sin and the law of death" by "the law of the spirit of life in christ jesus" ch.8.2
ch.7 showed a picture of his old life and states that he was in bondadge to the sin by "the law of sin" but ch.8 clearly shows that now, this is no longer true of him. becuase it clearly states he is now free from "the law of sin" by "the law of the spirit..."
and continues in more depth.

so, it is not true, that rom ch.7 is teaching that we christians must live in sin, under the law of sin, becuase paul states in ch.8 that he is now free from that law of sin by the power of the holyspirit through jesus. this gods will for all christians.

we simply are not supposed to serve sin, so what if you crave it, your supposed to deny yourself and not obey your mortal bodies, serving it, but serving God.

I HAVE FOUND, THAT EVEN THOUGH MY BODY DOES HAVE A VERY STRONG APETITE FOR SIN, IF I WILLING TO TURN AND FIGHT ITIN THE POWER OF JESUS, THAT I NEVER LOSE!
i beleive the reason people are bound in sin, is either the truth has not yet set them free from it, the word has not yet revealed to them that they are able to do so.
or, we are just giving up without a fight.
i know sin sometimes look bad, looks strong and we are sometimes intimidated, but we are promised power over all things! the desire in us almost seems unbeatable. and we want it so much, and we think we cannot overcome it.
luke 10.19,20. says that we can trample satan and all his power.
psalms 91 says that we can tread on lions, adders, young lions, and dragons. simply meaning, nothing can touch you! you have power and dominion over all things, if you are willing to deny your flesh and turn and take up the fight, you will not lose if you have faith! becuase the holyspirit has the power to change you, and overpower the law of sin.

people say becuase we are not perfect like the father, that we must sin. but even jesus, while on earth, was not like the father or equal to him in power, knowlegde, etc.
becuase he had to pray to the father, petitioning him for many things.john 17.
he had to receive things from the father. matthew 28.18
he had to be annointed by the holyspirit from the father and had to have the spirit of the lord upon him. luke 4.18
there are things the father knows that he did not know, like angles and men and other lower beings, do not know. mark 13.32
he even had to be led around by the spirit. matthew 4.1
he even had to be made into christ and lord by the fathers power acts.2.36
jesus even admitted he was not equal to the father as far as being "good" and he was not "God", as in he was not the father nor equal to him while on earth in his flesh. mark 10.18
all this goes to show that jesus, lived a life of holiness, without being equal to god, equal to god the father. just becuase your not equal with god, does not mean you cant refuse to serve the devil.
jesus was the son of god, but he had given up all his glory and power as God, when he became a human being through mary.

there is a very reasonable aregument going around that we sin, without even knowing it, and God is in the process of removing sin from us peice by peice, and it will take a lifetime, and still never be free from it totally. notice, they say it always takes a lifetime, no matter how long youve been trying and striving, it will always take the rest of your life, and you still never really get free.
it takes almighty god a lifetime to do something? what?
they say our minds not high enough, and many other things, coming to the conclusion that man simply isnt able.
but the word of God is clear that
"the holyspirit helpeth our infirmities" infirmities not meaning sickness but weaknesses. rom.8.26
yes its talking about prayer, but it is a clear proof that the holyspirit makes up for our human minds and weaknesses of it and every other weakness in our life.
the holyspirits work doesnt take a lifetime when he is allowed to move freely, and his power makes up for our moral and physical, and mental weaknesses.
there is no reason for us to have so much sin in us that it can never be all removed for god is omnipotent, or to blame sin on your weaknesses becuase the bible promises that the holyspirit will help you and overcome that in your life.

anyway, i think ive addressed the biggest reasons people use to excuse sin in their life.
but it is clear, no matter what reason we may give, that is never the will of god for us to live anything less than holy lives, for the rest of our lives. so, that is enough proof to condemn any sin we may commit even while saved.
people beleive that jesus came to forgive, and that is all.
but it is not true, the bible says he came to forgive sin, and destroy the body of sin, that we should no longer serve sin!
he came that we may have dominion over sin! not simply be pardoned from it, over and over and over.
he did not die, that we should still live as slaves unto sin and satan, but came to destroy them both and give us his children total freedom and seat us in high places with him! psalms 91.14

the only reason for bondadge to sin in anymans life, is lack of truth becuase the truth will set you free. or lack of commitment to the new life god has given him, and lack of exercising the power of the holyspirit. and these all go down to deeper roots, but all in all, there is no real excuse for sin, in the matured christians life.

today, let us be real men and women, and accept the truth, and change. the strongmans gospel.
one reason the body of christ is no longer moving in the power of the early church and in the power of christ, or the power he intended it to (becuase he called us to finish the work he started, meaning do what he did while hes gone, he intended for us to walk in the same power and effectiveness that he did)
is becuase of the sin in the lives of christians today.
as jesus was on the cross and cried out
MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME!?
jesus had taken all the sin of humanity past present and future upon himself, and for the first time in his life, he was absent from the fathers presence, the father forsook him, turned his face from him, illustrating how God, cannot dwell in the presence of sin.
and untill we debart from the great iniquity in the body of christ today, we will never walk in the power and glory that the body of christ is supposed to be walking in.

Jesus has already overcome sin through His death and Ressurrection. We only need to follow His Will. But through our fallen nature, we are under the effects of Original Sin. We will fail. The Good News- God is merciful!!! Don't lose hope. In your weakness, let Christ be strong.

In Christ, Pat

ok...
well give me some scripture saying we cannot be changed into new creatures, who can do anything through christ, and do have full dominion over satan and all his power, and cannot live holy and righteously before god and that it is not his will for us to.
give me some scripture saying we cannot have the body of sin destroyed and that we can not cease to live in sin any longer.
what you say is a good theory but it contradicts so much that is clearly stated in the word of god.
give me some scripture that says we humans are left to our own means and that the holyspirit does not fill us with his power and allow us to do all things.

when god saved us he did not leave us to strive in our own strength, but has filled us and endued us with power from on high.
and we are new creatures.
miracles, prophecy, healings, all gifts of the spirit are things contrary to the fallen state of man, if we can now have those things, then we can also do many more things that are contrary to the fallen state of man.
1 john 1.9
the word of God promises that he will cleanse us, from all unrighteousness. that is, the fallen state of man and sin, no longer have anything to do with us.
jesus came that we may have "life" not simply "pardoning".
but new life and possibility through god.
the fallen state and sin always represented and lead to "death".
but jesus came that we may have "life".
the fallen state, the flesh dominated man, does not not apply to us, if the spirit of god dwells in us, as paul said.

does the word of god not tell us that the holyspirit will quicken our mortal bodies?
he will bring them to life.
and this is not talking about the rapture  and being made immortal, becuase the body spoke of is mortal and not immortal.
but a bringing to life, that which is contrary to death in the fallen state, of the fallen mortal body.
does the word of god not tell us that we can and must crucify our flesh? and that christ has already crucified our flesh on the cross,
that the body of sin might be destroyed?
he nailed the power of your fallen state to the cross and it died.
now we, have new lives in him and possibility in him, just as christ was raised from the dead to a new life.
that is if we commit to stay connected to the vine.

We do have new natures, but we do still have the propensity to sin. The Bible does not say that once we are saved we will never sin again. It says that we will not LOVE to sin anymore. We will not persist in sin. We will not be able to fool ourselves into thinking that sin is okay, no big deal.

But it does not say that we will never sin again.

Hi,
P/N/B/ here:
The 'Word of GOD' says that we "have not already attained, neither were already perfect:.." Phil. 3:12. And then it says that [Nevertheless], whereto we [have already attained, .." verse 16. Are you ?
OK: Verse 14 the Word gives the answer.. "I PRESS TOWARD THE MARK OF THE HIGH CALLING OF GOD IN JESUS CHRIST." Grow from 'milk' to 'meat' God [requires]. (MATURITY)

So onward we go "IF" we will? It is [our daily decision] to PRESS FORWARD. The PROVISION has been made in Phil. 4:13 & 2 Cor. 12:9. Our perfection is [IN] Christ! Rom. 8:1. (NO CONDEMNATION) Our MATURITY comes FROM CHRIST. (see Rom. 8:14)

But lets make this clear if possible? :) It also says to them that knoweth to do good and doeth it not, to him it is sin! (you look it up, ok? So when one is a babe or not mature, there is not the complete package of the 'knowledge' of sin. And to sin when one knows that it is sin becomes a great danger over time! (see psalms 19:13. What does the Word [also] there mean?)

OK: It is the bottom line of life that God is after, in us. Faithfulness! [MATURITY] Being perfect in Christ does not make one 'safe to save'! (see Na. 1:9) That is just the starting point. And yes, it has got to take place as in Jn. 3:3-10.
Then & only then, man has the born again experience of 2 Cor. 3:3. ADAM & EVE were created not good, but VERY GOOD! (PERFECT!) What was their problem then?? GOD REQUIRES FREE MORAL AGENTS TO DEVELOPE CHARACTER! This they, as well as we, are NOT CREATED OR RE/CREATED with!

So, we are now started only, OK? (yes I know that some teach otherwise, but they must MATURE also, huh?)

Now in 1 John 5:16-17 (in part) we see the same writer of John 3, telling us [more TRUTH!] He through inspiration says:
"There [is a sin *NOT unto death]. (and) There is a [sin *UNTO death].
... All unrightousness is sin: [AND THERE IS A SIN *NOT UNTO DEATH]".

All un/known sin is what David prayed in Psalms 19:13, when he prayed to be kept from, but the WORD ALSO includes [KNOW SINS], these are PRESUMPTOUS he states. (when we know of them & continue on in them) These sins Grieve & Quench the Holy Ghost when done over & over again. (regardless of saint or sinner, when they ARE MADE KNOWN TO US)

A perfected CHARACTER to not sin on purpose is MORAL PERFECTION! Again Adam & Eve were not created with perfect characters. These they had to develope. And what about the rebellion in heaven? Sin was pardoned as taught in the Heavenly Sanctuary's [MERCY SEAT over the ARK OF THE LAW OF GOD until it was finally REBELLION!----P/N/B/

Sounds like there are quite a few excuses and justifications for continuing to sin. Either we are to sin, or we are not to sin. Which is it?

(1 John 2:6) Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.

(1 John 3:6) No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.

How do we repent of our sins? We take hold of the Grace of God that teaches is to say "No" to sin.

(Titus 2:11-12) For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. (12) It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age,

So, YES, it is possible to overcome sin. You just have to lay down your life, and submit every thought, step, and action to the Holy Spirit.

Much Grace,
Kevin

Is it possible to overcome sin? YES! But what is sin? Breaking of the Royal Law of God is sin. But NOTICE THIS IMPORTANT FACT, God says to him that knoweth [TO DO GOOD AND DOETH IT NOT, TO 'HIM' IT IS SIN]! So PERFECTION is doing as God has GIVENEN [YOU] KNOWLEDGE.

Case in point: Adam as created, was perfect. But his character NEEDED to be [TESTED} to become maturely so! After sin he still was perfect in Christ by offering a lamb by faith in the Gospel plan. Yet, he still was not MATURE.
So we are also saved by this [WORKING FAITH]. Working [SHOWS] our perfected FAITH, if it is true or false, in the END RESULTS of growth, MATURITY. (such as Cains freedom to not stay perfect in Christ---see Rom. 8:1)

SO, the bottom line QUESTION here is, seeing that we on earth will NEVER be fully mature in this [PERFECT] knowledge, then this Perfection MUST LAY in the fact that we will be SAFE TO SAVE (Na. 1:9) in the MATURITY OF FAITH! A Faith that will 'Obey God even if the heaven falls!'
(see Acts 5:32)

OK: This perfection? These ones were perfect the minute that Adam & Eve, Cain & Able offered the sacrifice pointing to the Lamb of God! And this is our PERFECTION as in Rom. 8:1. Are, or were, any of these PERFECT MATURELY PERFECT? (ONLY IN CHRIST)

Now comes the PERFECTION THAT CHRIST REQUIRES OF US! Phil. 4:13 & 2 Cor. 12:9 have the [ONLY PROVISIONS] that can be used! It is up to US!

OK: Now we are perfect, so now what? Then it is up to us to GROW, DEVELOPE a PERFECT MORAL CHARACTER TO BE SAFE TO SAVE. This is what our life is all about. Read Gen. 4:6-7, it IS ALL THERE. Study it, what was the requirement? Was he perfect if he so choose? Who took over his life if he 'decided' to rebell? Read the King James version's verses s-l-o-w-l-y! You can see this in the last verses of Eccl. also. Or *better still in 1 John 5:17!

Then there comes the ending? It is not to see if you will be perfect in complete Knowledge, but it WILL BE TO SEE IF YOU WILL BE OBEDIENT IN ALL OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF TRUTH THAT [YOU] HAVE! This is what you are tested upon, and this [PERFECTION] MUST develope! It will be the Mark of the beast's testing that sorts out the professed over the real 'FAITHFUL' that seen so far of the inmature. (see Rev. 18:4) God commands, and 's'atan counterfiets. World over Everlasting Gospel & Everlasting Covenant! Gospel & Royal law of the Universe cannot be voided out by God. But satan says yes it is! Then we will SEE MATURE PERFECTION, and as always, of only the very [FEW]!!

This 666 is the professed worlds TEST! (not 1 Peter 4:17 ones)

Read Heb. 6: 1-6 for the [POSITIVES] only. Tasted of the heavenly Gift! [Made Partakers of the Holy Ghost!] Rom. 8:1's PERFECTION, but, NOT SAFE TO SAVE! (verse 6) They FELT PERFECT! EMOTIONALLY! WHAT MORE DO I NEED THEY SAY??!! I KNOW THAT I 'HAVE' BEEN BORN AGAIN!! Yet, the problem was that they did not [WORK] onward & UPWARD with the NEW LIGHT THAT GOD FURNISHED THEM! (Hosea 4:6) They became as CAIN with a new leader! (try Rev. 3:9) This will be the SAME TEST as was seen in the book Exodus 16:4-5 & verse 27-28 before we go into OUR land of heavenly Canaan! See verse 35. PROOF? see Eccl. 1:9-10 & Eccl. 3:15 for a 'short cut'!----P/N/B/

i am sorry that i have neglected to reply your posts lambslove and pastora N.B. and 4thecross.
i thought no one had replied to this post and havent checked it, since it went  a long time having no replies. i havent even been on this thread for a long time. sorry.

Lambslove.
well, i am not saying a christian will not sin anymore simply becuase he is a christian. but that it is aparently possible for us not to do so.
i think i have posted plenty of scripture that it is the will of god for us not to do so, and that scripture teaches that it is unreasonable for us to do so by the testimony of paul and others...if the bible considers it unreasonable to remain sin forever, then surely their must be a way to cease to sin. or god would understand, if their is no way to cease.
yes i agree, christians can sin, in any stage of their life.  but must they? this is what i do find the scripture teaching.
no, i do not beleive so.
i dont beleive jesus died and saved me, gave me power over all the enemies power, only leave me bound in sin, bound to forever fail to cease breaking the will of god.
that seems ironic, besides being a pointless statement by God himself.

Pastor N.B

hehe, sorry, i found it hard to understand whether or not you were for this posts subject or agaisnt it.
yes i beleive that we have perfection in Christ, and when we are covered in the blood we are forgiven and our pasts are wiped away and we are given a potential to now live godly lives, and this only comes through faith, and then even though saved, we must yeild to working of the holyspirit in our lives and go from glory unto glory, there are many things that we have not yet attained, but can be attained.i beleive it is a process that can be brought to a finish, and even if we never achieve that forknowlegde of all sins, what they are, we will be helped by the holy spirit and warned ahead of time if we are full of the word of god and in close fellowship with him, and that we way we can avoid that which is evil and filthy in his sight, sin.

just as paul wished for the corinthians to come unto perfection, and told the hebrews that they should go on unto perfection instead of constantly repenting of dead works, we can go on unto perfection.

i do not beleive that a christian has no choice but to live in sin, forever. i think you were for me, and not agaisnt me.
sorry, i really couldnt understand what aregument you were defending.

4thecross
good post man, thanks.

OK: Lets test my perfection?? Sin 'IS THE TRANGRESSION OF THE LAW', God's Word states. Simple & plain enough! There was sin in heaven, so there was the law in heaven. It was not until it was MATURE that these lost ones were given up. The sin against the Holy Ghost. (GRIEVE OR QUENCH)

Then here comes along the path a few thousand years in the future, me :). Lets say, that I had been taught of Matt. 28:18-20 as Christ required. I know this truth lets say, but it is not until I accept it in my profession is it of eternal profit. So I do give my life to Christ & understand that it [is by His power alone] that perfection is attained! Phil. 4:13.

Now what??? I am PERFECT! Rom. 8:1. So were Adam & Eve & Cain & Abel perfect as seen in Hebrews 11:4-17 up until the time that CAIN became MATURE! Gen. 4:6-7. Even his boss was perfect at one time in heaven, created PERFECT! But did they believe still? Did this BREAKING OF THE AGREEMENT (Covenant, Contract, Pledge for two parties or more ) annul perfection? OR WERE THEY STILL PERFECT IN CHRIST! And on up to the understanding of the Earthly Sanctuary Pattern to the Heavenly,
why go wash at the Laver after the SACRICICE was offered & claimed?? you know? we are perfect!?? Then if they did not wash (it was twice stated) 'that they die not'. But they were PERFECT WERE THEY NOT? Heb. 11, THESE ALL WERE SAVED BY FAITH! & Rom. 8:1 NO CONDENMATION for [those 'in' CHRIST JESUS].

Then they had to eat of the BREAD inside the Sanctuary on the ShewBread Table, & on, & on.. WHY? WHY? WHY? Read Psalms 77:13. Matt. 4:4.

What does that have to do with me? Just this: Christ said that in the LAST DAYS that knowledge would be INCREASED! (not voided out) And He told us all that to REJECT KNOWLEDGE HE [WOULD] REJECT US. (FACT) See Hosea 4:6.
Now here I am a Seventh day Sabbath keeper, and another are First day Sabbath keepers. [One of us are flat out wrong!!] OK, lets say that it is me. At first I do not know this Truth. Up to this point I AM PERFECT, agreed! And then I find that what I had believed is not true, that God really does change! And that He is not the same yesterday, today and forever! So what am I to do now?? still claim perfection? Notice:

James 4:17:
"[THEREFORE] to *HIM THAT KNOWETH TO DO GOOD, AND DOETH IT NOT, [TO HIM IT IS SIN]." Now my friend, I am, or am I, still perfect when I am convicted of the above Truth? Or am I a PERFECT SINNER? Am in my 'MATURITY' where Cain was in his maturity, that of offering his 'fruit sacrifice'? (see Mark 7:7) only mine is in telling my Master that I will keep the 7th day Sabbath instead of HIS CHANGED TEN COMMANDMENT ROYAL LAW OF THE UNIVERSE, to the SUN'DAY one, AND because I LOVE HIM???

Naw, MY PERFECTION LIES IN CHRIST. And my new/life will obey ALL OF HIS REQUIREMENTS, because I LOVE HIM! And when the TRUTH about [PERFECTION] is UNDERSTOOD we will see one of two choices made. We will be ETERNALLY GONE, (as though, 'we never were') OR we will be eternally saved. But we will be SAFE TO SAVE because of this testing process! See Na. 1:9.

And as John was inspired to pen in 1 John 5 that there is a SIN UNTO DEATH & A SIN NOT UNTO DEATH. The LAST END of maturity of any sin if KNOW AND OPENLY FLAGRANT leads to the SIN UNTO DEATH. Regardless if it be me & my Seventh day Sabbath profession, or you and your Sunday profession.

Case in POINT: Rev. 18:4 SAVED FOR THE [PRESENT] WITH AN ETERNAL LIFE OR DEATH {MATURE} DECISION TO MAKE FOR THE FUTURE! ---P/N/B/
