I hung out with the neighbourhood friends.. An area of our neighbourhood was the train tressel. Or we would hang out at the park. Mostly we would just walk around the nieghbourhood.. For a short while they had a pizza shop across the street from my house. That was really kool. I was a loner for close friendships.. but I was acquainted with alot of people in highschool. I liked walking from school to downtown and hangin out .. then taking the bus for .50cnts.. back home about 8-10 miles away. Then I met my future husband and hung out with him in his town across the river. ( I grew up on stateline of Ohio and WV and PA.)

what crowd did you hang out with and where in high school.

I hung out with the motor heads at the Pizza Hut parking lot.

There were 5 of us girls, we were always together in school and outside of school. We were a breed of our own and there isn't a word to describe us, we didn't belong under a certain 'brand name'. We were loud and laughed a lot and I remember getting a few strange and disproving looks when out in public, but we didn't care, we were having too much of a laugh. Never disrespectful or misbehaving, just loud.
We would spend a lot of time at the cinema and even laser quest! We would regularly meet up in the City (Melbourne) and wonder around Melbourne Central, meeting up in the food court.

I grew up way out in the country, lol. We STILL don't have a MCDonald's in my town. We finally got a Subway about 2 years ago, but that's it...the only chain (apart from Fred's pharmacy and Dollar General, lol).

My town was small, my school was small...so we didn't have the traditional cliques like other places. We all knew each other, so while we did have jocks and cheerleaders and band geeks, etc, for the most part, that's not how people divided themselves into groups of friends. In most groups of friends, you could find people from all corners of the high school demographic.

When I was in high school, I played tennis, so after school I was ALWAYS practicing. My nights were mainly spent down at the tennis courts with my friends from the team...sometimes we'd play, sometimes not. LOL, the courts were conveniently located on the "cruisin'" route so everyone that was out in town drove right by us and would stop and talk.

Later on, when we wanted to do stuff that the parentals probably wouldn't have approved of, we drove down to the lake. We had a special little private cove (called DewBug Landing) where we'd hang out until the wee hours of the morning. We'd also hang out on some of the more private backroads, cemetaries, fields, and creekbanks.

Good times. LOL, I loved growing up in the country. :)

This is a really cool thread. Funny what we thought we were, or what we were labled in our teen years.

Passionate One, I *knew* you were a cheerleader; lol.
JPPT, you are so NOT a loner now, gf!!!
And Countrywoman, you don't strike me as a nerd at all.

I started out a nerd; a loner. Glasses, plain, skinny, good grades, very few friends; no bfs.
Then I began to hang out with a few gals and guys who partied a bit; not as much as some, more than others.
But we'd never hurt anyone; we all had heart.

We cruised the bowling alley and Sonic Drive-In.

Then when I began to date my HS sweetheart, we cruised farther places, went shopping and out to eat a lot, hung out in the country, went fishing and hunting, and got high; lol.

Don't worry...now I like to do anything else but that, but those were the days. I am honest with my kids in that one sin probably kept me from achieving all my dreams when I was younger.

I had a green '67 camaro in high school,
my friends and I were the 'motor heads' ;)and hung out at a place called Ed Mason's Barn, a resturant with those speakers you ordered your food and it was brought out to the car. It was on US Rt 40 just outside town so we could spin the tires and open the headers up and drag race on the hiway with out the local city cops coming out after us. Wow, that was a long time ago but good memories:thumbsup:

My mates and I all had pretentions towards being "bohemians", so we all sat round the local cafe, making a single cup of coffee last for hours.

This is the same time as I took to wearing sunglasses absolutely everywhere, even indoors, in the belief it made me look like a rock star. As opposed to, with the benefit of hindsight, a bit silly.

I believe we have the same hometown in common.
We hung out at the old Mr. Eds parking lot across from Pizza Hut. Last time I was there I saw it's now BK.
We use to go to Costitution Park alot too.

Before school, a bunch of us went early so we could get our buzz on, before school. There was a hill the cool people parked on, off school property. We drank vodka mixed with juice out of gallon jugs and smoked alot of. .. . stuff.

After dark (after dinner and homework) we'd meet at a fire pit near somebody's house & do more of what we did before school.

It is amazing I survived. Amazing I graduated. Amazing Christ waited patiently through those years.

I didn't have so many friends as a kid. I guess I didn't need them or something. It just seemed so pointless talking to 'normal' friends when I had the coolest friend ever, JESUS CHRIST.

His house is always open, and I can talk whenever I want. It helped me get away from my dad, I guess.
