Name it Ungoliant; the name is pronounced [uŋˈgɔ.li.ant] which means dark spider, or dark terror spider if translated from the Sindarin name Delduthling. Also known by the names "gloomweaver," Wirilomë in Quenya, Gwerlum in Sindarin.

I can't believe the words cute, dainty and petite are being used to describe a tarantula.

So tarantulas run around freely where you are Keri, or was this someone's pet?

And how do you know how to handle them and that they won't bite you? I'm someone with serious arachnophobia so I am absolutely, TOTALLY amazed by you right now.

Aren't they poisonous in the wild?

Some are poisonous, whether they are wild or not.

You can name her Tinkerbell, I won't be offended. In fact, I'd consider it an honor. :)

I like Tinkerbell. Very cute.

Um, I'd like something I could pronounce. If I find another one, I'll mail it to you and you can call it one of those names.

Yes, tarantulas run around freely here... I mean it's not like they are huge and everywhere, this is the second time I've found them. And it's only been since I've moved out to the hills away from the town.

I noticed that this one was a little jumpy when disturbed. First, I make sure it's fed... you don't want to try to pick up a hungry spider. Then, I gently wake it up and get it alert so it doesn't bite me because it feels suddenly threatened. And I put my hand in front of it so it just walks right up. I've never been bitten by a tarantula. They are generally not aggressive spiders.

How about Princess?

How about Princess Tinkerbell?

How about Jillian?;) Because she's feisty!:)

My BFF Jill is very feisty, but I've already decided on Princess Tinkerbell, thanks to Tink. :D
