• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

    If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

    If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Psalm 9:9-10 The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

Psalm 34:17-19 The righteous cry and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart, and saveth such as he of contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.

Isaiah 40:28-29 Hast thou not known? Hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth fainteth not, neither is weary? There is no searching of His understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might, he increaseth strength.

At one point or another we have all felt a little overwhelmed. Sometimes it feels as though there is never enough time during the day. Don't be too hard on yourself. You are only one person. Take a few moments each and everyday to treat yourself to a bit of kindness. Unfortunately, there are times we are our own worst enemy. Do something simple for yourself so you feel regenerated. Take a nice warm bubble bath. For thirty minutes close yourself up in your bedroom or another peaceful spot in your home. No distractions. Reflect for a moment all the good things happening in your life. Don't let your mind wander to thoughts of what you should be doing. Have an intimate talk with God, allowing yourself the opportunity to hand your worries over to Him. He tells us to cast all our cares on Him, so do just that. So what if the bed doesn't get made until after lunch. So what if you didn't clean the toilet or wash the dog. Usually we find out that all these 'important' things we MUST get done are not so important after all. Enjoy life, your family and yourself. You won't be much good to anyone if your not first good to yourself.

I know how it is to feel overwhelmed. How are you feeling today hon?

Psalm 40

1 I waited patiently for the LORD ;
he turned to me and heard my cry.
2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.
3 He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
