And I need to hear something more than "just get over it" as most people have told me.
I'm currently in my third year in college, I'm not really close to any comprehensive kind of degree because I was undecided on a major, and now the one I'm in is pushing me to an unhealthy level of stress. Anything I read on it says stress is a good thing! Like *bleep* it is! I HATE being this stressed, and it's not getting any better, I feel rushed all the time, and if something doesn't change I swear I'm going to have a heart attack or something .
I'm considering my options here. Should I stay and learn to deal with it, should I drop out and find something else to do? Should I take some time off? I..just..don't..know! AAAAAAAGH!

well don't feel alone in this. college is very stressful for everyone who attends and works hard to achieve their goal. it was definitely the most stressful time so far in my life hands down. but was it worth it? heck yeah.

what are you studying? what do you love about it? what do you want to do with ti later on?

There's nothing wrong with taking a break. My mom even encouraged me to take a break after high school; but it wasn't right for me. I knew what I wanted.

Be patient. Make a Pro & Con list. Find something that you love about your degree. If you can't, then take a break.

Ask yourself whether it'll be worth it in the end? Your stress may pay off later, like an earlier poster said, most college students are stressed. Also, pray for the Lord to give you knowledge if this is the path that goes along with his plan. Sorry if I didn't help..

Do not swear in vain my friend. I'm sure writing up 15-20 pages each day will not put any serious strain on your physical health. Merely take short breaks and devote them to yourself.

Better yet, devote them to Him, as it will ultimately benefit you mentally, and give you the reassurance you need to keep striding towards your goal. Do not drop out. We have all dealt with this, as many have said.

What the heck have you been reading?

Exactly. I don't find find college stressful except the night before a big paper is due because I'm a procrastinating slacker.

Seriously though, stress is often caused by taking things too seriously.

Should I stay and learn to deal with it, should I drop out and find something else to do? Should I take some time off? I..just..don't..know! AAAAAAAGH!
Drop a class or two. Or are in you one of those majors that has a set program of classes?

A major cause of stress is poor time management skills. Do you give yourself plenty of time to get things done or like me do you tend to wait till the last minute? Give yourself more time, start on things earlier, but at the same time take some "me-time", give yourself at least an hour a day just to unwind. Hang in there though, you are in your third year, so hopefully it won't be much longer.

I recently found out that if you are doing something you enjoy, school is MUCH less stressful.

I have more work since I switched from chem to English, but since I'm actually motivated to put in the study time and do well, I don't have as much to worry about. Except, you know, finding employment after I graduate. But it was to the point where if I had stuck with chem I wouldn't have passed this semester.

Do you have someone to talk to about how you are feeling???

I don't know where you are from and I know in some places it can be seen as a weakness but I have had some sort of therapist for the last 7 years and had one while I was at school (I mean high school)

Having somewhere to blow off steam is a good thing. Are you in a Church? Could you talk to your pastor? Maybe you have a good friend who is a good listener?

I am a bit obsessed with the talking as I am pretty much in full time therapy atm but I KNOW it helps

also, it doesn't have to be all or nothing, it doesn't have to be drop out or keep going the way you are, someone has already suggested that you drop a couple of classes, you could pick them up again next year?

Also, I would reccommend talking to your lecturers (or professros, I think they are called in the states) as explaining to them just how stressed you are may give you the opportunity to ask for extensions to a couple of deadlines

Grant it, you must've put a lot into it but, if you find it too stressful take a step back. Too much stress is no good. If you've given it all you have and you really tried... you shouldn't have any regrets. Maybe look into a different field

Take time off. Yeah, some stress levels are healthy, but if you feel this overwhelmed you are not going to accomplish anything. Take a semester off and find a job. Do some searching about what you want to do and go from there. College is important, but remember that college isn't for everyone and people are still successful without it. I hope it gets better for you! :)

That's a tough delema you're in. I've been there, and so has my girlfriend and we both ended up taking different routes. I took two years off and will be starting again this coming Spring and she stuck with it, met with some really good advisers and finished up last spring.

I'm very thankful that I made that decision because it has opened up many more doors for me and I learned many great lessons about life. And thanks to those, I've chosen to change my mind regarding career to something that will really make me happy.

Ya know, I really think that has a lot to do with the subject too. When I started college I was an aviation major and I have never been more stressed! And I absolutly loved every second of it, and was very motivated to do well in all my classes. (afterall, it is life or death) But it was sooooo incredibly much more work than any other classes I've ever taken, other subjects suffered.

omph i was in the same place last semester! not a fun time, but you know what dont give up becasue your gonna regret that. i got to the point of stress where i was physically sick, and i would not sleep, and so it got to the point where my mom called my boyfriend and said you have get her outa the house and so you know what he did, he took me to an arcade, and we played shooting games for an hour it did help.

you need to get yourself out of that enviornement and just get your mind off those stressors, once your mind is of them and you can relax you can then go back refreshed and unstressed

dont give up though, you can do this and your gonna feel so great when you do! just make some time for yourself.

You don't have to get an A in every class. I had a friend who went to college spent a most of the time studying had a hard time adjusting eventually broke down and skipped a week of classes because they couldn't handle it.

I, unfortunately, have a lack of caring about my non-major classes hence my low GPA but in my major I've got above a 3.5. some of the time its just because I can't study well for both tests so I study for the one in my major and the other I take a lower grade in. and a C is "average", and I can deal with average.
