• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hi there. My husband is a wonderful individual who just happens to have adhd. He was on medication for a little while, which really seemed to help. Then we switched jobs, and he lost insurance, so the once $10 bottle of pills is now $100 and out of our price range. He's coping, we both are, but I find it hard sometimes to "get it" and I need to remind myself that he is wired differently then I am (honestly even if he didn't have adhd that would indeed be the case...) I was hoping that we could sort of form a support group for those of us dealing with being on "the other side" of the disorder. I have no intention of bashing anyone especially my sweetheart. I'm just looking for a shoulder to cry on when there's yet another half finished engine in the garage, because the "fun part" is over...(a trait he admits freely himself, and tries hard to correct) . Any takers? :help::)

I can relate. My husband has ADD & takes Ritalin. He does well on it, but still blurts out hurtful things or gets too angry over basic situations. He can procrastinate or be a tad forgetful.

He is a loving husband & father & all around great guy. He is intelligent & talented

I too found out Im moderate...just enough to take low dose Ritalin. Many adults find out they are ADD when the take their kids meds. They then research & discover they have the exact same symptoms. Dh realised I would qualify as well when he was researching for himself.

Sorry you're going through that. Wish I knew what to say.
I would explore every avenue for how to get help paying for it. Im sure you have, but have you talked to your MD or anyone that might know how to get some type of insurance or something?

Could be someone will post with more help then I can give, but I do offer a cup of coffee & listening ear:hug:

As far as your husband needing meds. I too am ADHD and have no insurance. My psychiatrist told me how to get my meds cheaper. Did you know that the bigger the pharmacy chain is the cheaper the price of meds is. This is true. My meds went from costing me $180 a month to $80 a month just by going to Target and/or Walmart. Hope this helps you.
