Romans 7:12-13
Therefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good. Has then what is good become death to me? Certainly not! But sin, that it might appear sin, was producing death in me through what is good, so that sin through the commandment might become exceedingly sinful.

Paul tells us that the Law of God is just, holy and good. Of course it is, the law is the word of God and God is just, holy and good. David said that he loved the law, because it showed him the way of righteousness. Paul said the same thing, that the law is our schoolmaster, to teach us what is good, and right and proper and true.

The problem is, that the law also shows us how cruel sin is. The law shows us the consequences of sin, apart from the grace of God. Does that mean that now we are under grace that sin has no more consequences? Of course not, perhaps for those of us who are saved, there are no eternal consequences to sin. But we know that there is a price to be pain in our body and while we are still alive. Sin has it's consequences and Paul said do not be deceived, we will reap what we sow.

For those who are not saved, the consequences of sin will be a lot longer lasting. But that is no reflection on the law. Paul's statement: "sin through the commandment might become exceedingly sinful" is a little hard to understand. But as far as I can tell, it means that the law of God has exposed sin, and shown the whole world, that sin is cruel and the consequenses of sin is devesting. It strips away our protection.
