<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">Jesus spoke of the judgement day when he walked among men. He said "Every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of' Judgement" Matthew <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:time Hour="12" Minute="36">12:36</st1:time>. "He that rejecteth me and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him. The word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day" John 12:48. Jesus spoke of a day of judgement on the last day.
He said that two kinds of words were important: what we say and what He said. We will be judged by His words and by our words. This means that we need to pay attention to what we say and to what He says in the Bible.
But how can we be sure that there really will be a day of Judgement? We can be sure there is a judgement because he proved there would be a Judgement by his own resurrection from the dead. The apostle Paul said, "GOD NOW COMMANDETH ALL MEN EVERYWHERE TO REPENT BECAUSE HE HATH APPOINTED A DAY IN WHICH HE WILL JUGDE THE WORLD BY RIGHTEOUSNESS BY THAT MAN WHOM HE HATH ORDAINED, WHEREOF HE HATH GIVEN ASSURANCE UNTO ALL MEN IN THAT HE HATH RAISED HIM FROM THE DEAD” Acts 17:30,31. "For we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ, that everyone may receive the things done in his body, according to what he hath done whether it be good or bad" II Corinthians 5:10. We can be sure that there is a judgement day and we can be sure that everyone on earth will be there.
John records the climax of the judgement scene in the last book of the Bible, the Book of Revelation. "And I saw a great white throne and him that sat upon it from whose face the heaven and the earth fled away, and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God and the books were opened, and another book was opened, which is the book of Life, and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it and death and hell (Hades) delivered up the dead which were in them and they were judged every man according to their works." Revelation 20:11-13.
Here are some clear facts from the Bible about the judgement:
Fact No. 1: Man must give account of himself on the day of judgement. (Matthew 12:36; Romans 14:10,12).
Fact No. 2: All of us shall appear at the judgment. (Acts 17:31; II Corinthians 5:10)
Fact No. 3: We're to be judged by how we measure up to the word of God. (John 12:48; Revelation 20:11-13)
Fact No. 4: We need to get ready for the judgement day. (II Corinthians 5:10; Matthew 12:36-41)
Now if Jesus is going to be the judge and his words are going to be the standard or rule by which we are judged it becomes very important that we learn what his words are. In the great sermon on the mount he said, "Not everyone who saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he that doeth the will of my father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name and in thy name cast out devils and in thy name done more wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you. Depart from me you that work iniquity" Matthew 7:21-23. Those who do his will, will not receive this condemnation and punishment. What will you say at the judgement?

I don't know what i will say. I should prolly prepare for it (after reading your post). It seems quite scary.
The thng is if i just kneel in front of God and plead with him then that seems like i am sinful and am trying to get into heaven. There must be a constructive thing you can say to him.

I'll probably kneel before him and just thank him for everything he has ever done for me, sooo... that's pretty much everything in my life.

Another question though, somewhere in the good old bible it says, referring to judgement day, that some will be taken away and some will be left. It doesn't say which ones will be taken/left (ie:good or bad).
Do you think it will be the christians who will be taken to heaven, or the bad people who will be taken to hell?

I have an unproven theory that hell might actually be Earth.

Your Theology is a bit confused. More than a bit. As for pleading to go to Heaven, that is settled before you are judged. The judgement a Christian stands is the Bema judgement and has nothing to do with your eternal destination. That is settled by what you do with Christ here. The judgement a Christian stands pertains to rewards and loss of rewards. It is not the Great White Throne judgement that unrepentant sinners go to.

Hmmmm! Well, I have been called many things, and still hear new ones almost daily. But to my knowledge no one has called me Bob yet! As long as it will pass the censors in these forums, it is fine with me!&nbsp; ;)

Altya,

I enjoy reading your post. I thought I would post my views of judgment. Not as a counter to yours but more to complete the views of this subject, there are many.

Judgment for the saved will be about rewards, things done in the body of Christ. The saved will not be judged by sins as such. Every knee will bow or the righteous judgment will be for the lost. The saved have bowed that knee, they have been forgiven by the blood of Jesus on the cross. We can and do sin in the body of Christ but those sins are also forgiven. My sins are dealt with through earthly judgments and convictions of the HS. My reaction to conviction is by way of changes I make in my life based upon those convictions. We are already members of the kingdom of God, thus the book of life. There is no eraser that will erase a name from the book. All that's left for the saved is reward. I look forward to the day as we are called to do. Some fear this doctrine as they believe it leads people to sin, nothing could be further from the actual. Being saved is being in Christ and Christ in us. We are being perfected for that day of judgment and since it's the work of God, it will be complete. I work in the body of Christ because of the joy, peace and happiness it brings, not for rewards and never for fear that I am not worthy, I am forgiven.

Blessings to you

lol, it was a reflexive response. I think i'm much more prepared than i was years ago, but then no one's perfect.

Yes I agree, this is a very serious subject and one not to take lightly.

Oh Lord, Please keep our time in this world focused with an eternal perspective. Amen

Since we must be judged, we should prepare for that certainty. We can do that by learning about the judgments and what will be expected or required. The simplest way is to accept the provision that Jesus Christ made for us with His death on the cross. He died to make a way for us to be forgiven of our failings and made perfect in the sight of the Father. Those who accept this salvation will be accepted by the Father in Rev. 20:11.

We will not stand before the Lord for our eternal destiny. That is already sealed if Jesus is your Savior. We are given instructions on how to live a life that will reap rewards. It is not full of don'ts, just two "do's". Love God with all your heart, soul and strength. And love your neighbor as yourself. If everyone lived by those two rules, this society would be very different. If we lived lives preparing for the one sure thing that we will face, knowing that God cares so much that He paved the way, I dare say we would not recognize this world.

You know something... sometimes I'm not really too concerned with my reward in heaven... I don't think about it sometimes, but other times I do. I'd just like to be there and to have brought people with me.

Which brings up a question in my mind... is it "selfish" or "wrong" to do something for someone only with the motive of getting a reward in heaven? Like we know that we should give to the poor and needy (whatever you have done to the least of these... right?) if you do it not because you want to help them out, but because you want a reward from God, is that wrong?
