No, Christian boards weren't shoved to the bottom. Theological and denominational boards were, because theology and denominations cause the most divisions among Christians, as you can see if you just read some theology discussions on this site. But Christianity isn't only theology, it's also how you act towards others, and only in the fellowship forums Christians with very different theologies can be united together. The intire forum became opened to all, non christians and christians. The restrictions were removed. Which I personaly had no problem with, and again, I don't care for the name now but thats not why I am annoyed atm, my problem is, the christian boards were shoved to the bottom, and this place isn't the center of Christ anymore.
I hope you loose all financial support for this universalism project of yours, until this becomes an actual Christian site again. I regret once being a site supporter. See you at carm.org.Hi everyone
Yes, as you can see, Christian Forums is now called Foru.ms, and the new web address is the same as the name, "foru.ms" - short, simple and to the point.
This name change has been suggested to me by several members and is in line with the recent changes to the direction of the website.
In summary:
Name:
Foru.ms
Slogan:
Forums-based Social Networking For You
Vision:
An online forums-based self-governing social networking community guided by Christian principles for everyone.
Mission:
1. To establish and grow a self-governing community that is open to everyone guided by rules driven by Christian principles which are collaboratively agreed upon by all members, keeping in mind:
Gal 5:22-23 GNT But the Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, and self-control. There is no law against such things as these.
2. To provide a meeting place for Christians to fellowship with one another and outreach to non-Christians, keeping in mind:
2 Cor 5:17-18 GNT Anyone who is joined to Christ is a new being; the old is gone, the new has come. All this is done by God, who through Christ changed us from enemies into his friends and gave us the task of making others his friends also.
The above statements summarises the new direction and vision of the site.
What does it all mean?
1. It means that all members will be given the power to self-govern by collaboratively working together with coming up with the rules for this whole community, including voting for their own moderators.
2. It means that members who want their particular forums to have certain restrictions may do as this is part of self-governance. Sub-forums members will be able to develop their own rules and choose their own moderators.
3. It means that this site will be continue to be open to people from all backgrounds and give them the opportunity to interact.
From a practical point of view, everything should really function as before prior to the name and vision change, except that now we have a much broader vision and goal than before.
Thank you for all your patience. It's 12:30 am here now and I have an all-day medical conference tomorrow (yes, on Sunday) to attend so I need to sleep - I hope to check up on Foru.ms to ensure everything is going okay.
Feel free to discuss this change in this thread.
i totally agree, thats why im so sad, angry and annoyed. I came here to be united , not "socializing"You know you are right about the name!
But what about the vision and Mission Statement!
I bought into a Christian Website that had the mission of Uniting All Christians, not an eclectic Social Networking site!
Why, because that describes your believes? It's soooo annoying when people blame everything they don't like on "universalism" or "relativism"...
What makes you think you won't be able to do that now?Im a healty christian, and came here only to get to know more christians, to seek answers to some questions, and have some fum...
No, it's still a Christian site. The only difference is that now CF doesn't treat some Christians better than other Christians. This used to be a Christian site, but since July a lot of Christians here are quite upset that it has been taken away.
Again, the NAME itself is the very LEAST of my issues, the format changes he's made are what are so harmful to Christians. You know you are right about the name!
But what about the vision and Mission Statement!

The WHOLE WEBSITE is Christian, not just the bottom part. The bottom part is just about theological stuff.Christians do not thrive in a format that strips what little protection they had from open attack - as he allows skeptics to infiltrate their safe haven to challenge them continually - PLUS gives them free reign of the entire secular section! -
and shoves their God at the BOTTOM OF THE PAGE in small print as if He's an afterthought, "oh, by the way, here's our christian stuff folks!".
