imo, if you want the 777 vision to be accomplished you should have enough Christian's contributing towards it. Clearly with the name change, the community has become weaker and it is very probable that non-Christian's would find it very easy to spread their doctrines. Foru.ms was a lil expensive and we all do such mistakes at some point. Erwin can still revert it all back to normal if he wishes. In the end, it is his site and his say is always final.

The intire forum became opened to all, non christians and christians. The restrictions were removed. Which I personaly had no problem with, and again, I don't care for the name now but thats not why I am annoyed atm, my problem is, the christian boards were shoved to the bottom, and this place isn't the center of Christ anymore.
No, Christian boards weren't shoved to the bottom. Theological and denominational boards were, because theology and denominations cause the most divisions among Christians, as you can see if you just read some theology discussions on this site. But Christianity isn't only theology, it's also how you act towards others, and only in the fellowship forums Christians with very different theologies can be united together.

Hi everyone

Yes, as you can see, Christian Forums is now called Foru.ms, and the new web address is the same as the name, "foru.ms" - short, simple and to the point.

This name change has been suggested to me by several members and is in line with the recent changes to the direction of the website.

In summary:

Name:
Foru.ms

Slogan:
Forums-based Social Networking For You

Vision:
An online forums-based self-governing social networking community guided by Christian principles for everyone.

Mission:

1. To establish and grow a self-governing community that is open to everyone guided by rules driven by Christian principles which are collaboratively agreed upon by all members, keeping in mind:
Gal 5:22-23 GNT But the Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, and self-control. There is no law against such things as these.

2. To provide a meeting place for Christians to fellowship with one another and outreach to non-Christians, keeping in mind:
2 Cor 5:17-18 GNT Anyone who is joined to Christ is a new being; the old is gone, the new has come. All this is done by God, who through Christ changed us from enemies into his friends and gave us the task of making others his friends also.

The above statements summarises the new direction and vision of the site.

What does it all mean?

1. It means that all members will be given the power to self-govern by collaboratively working together with coming up with the rules for this whole community, including voting for their own moderators.

2. It means that members who want their particular forums to have certain restrictions may do as this is part of self-governance. Sub-forums members will be able to develop their own rules and choose their own moderators.

3. It means that this site will be continue to be open to people from all backgrounds and give them the opportunity to interact.

From a practical point of view, everything should really function as before prior to the name and vision change, except that now we have a much broader vision and goal than before.

Thank you for all your patience. It's 12:30 am here now and I have an all-day medical conference tomorrow (yes, on Sunday) to attend so I need to sleep - I hope to check up on Foru.ms to ensure everything is going okay.

Feel free to discuss this change in this thread.
I hope you loose all financial support for this universalism project of yours, until this becomes an actual Christian site again. I regret once being a site supporter. See you at carm.org.

I'm sure I'll still post here, just to call a few things as they are. It's not like there's a warning system anymore.

Ok, I have been barely posting since the last round of changes, but this is it. These changes are ridiculous and BULLCR@P. I am officially gone. I will not return. Erwin, you have officially ruined what was once one of the best theological discussion boards on the net. Thank you so much for ruining a place I once loved.

honestly, how can a grown up man be so naive and think that noone will notice the radical changes on this site, it is going downhill!

its the same like having a Pastor of church that is gay and signing a petition with church that abortion would be allowed! and then say that wea are only being helpful to the nation and protective, and that christians are open!

this is a load of rubbish!

You know you are right about the name!

But what about the vision and Mission Statement!

I bought into a Christian Website that had the mission of Uniting All Christians, not an eclectic Social Networking site!
i totally agree, thats why im so sad, angry and annoyed. I came here to be united , not "socializing"

Im not a freak who sits 24/7 online coz has no other life. Im a healty christian, and came here only to get to know more christians, to seek answers to some questions, and have some fum...

the moto is so bulloks!

It's soooo annoying when people blame everything they don't like on "universalism" or "relativism"...
Why, because that describes your believes?

This used to be a Christian site, but since July a lot of Christians here are quite upset that it has been taken away.

Nothing in this site gives it ANY credence to being a Christian site at this point.

Erwin would do well to read and follow this verse from Proverbs chapter 6:

There are six things the LORD hates,
seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes,
a lying tongue,
hands that shed innocent blood,
a heart that devises wicked schemes,
feet that are quick to rush into evil,
a false witness who pours out lies
and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers.

No, it's still a Christian site. The only difference is that now CF doesn't treat some Christians better than other Christians.

Again, the NAME itself is the very LEAST of my issues, the format changes he's made are what are so harmful to Christians.

Going from a mainstream Christian forum, to practically throwing God under the bus by shoving anything remotely "Christian" down at the bottom, isn't proclaiming God, OR keeping a healthy core of Christians there to supposedly fulfill his so-called "VISION" of "better witnessing to others by empowering nonChristians and enemies of God with preeminance".

One day his vision will reap what he's sown into it if he doesn't undo the harm he's done.
Christians do not thrive in a format that strips what little protection they had from open attack - as he allows skeptics to infiltrate their safe haven to challenge them continually - PLUS gives them free reign of the entire secular section! -
and shoves their God at the BOTTOM OF THE PAGE in small print as if He's an afterthought, "oh, by the way, here's our christian stuff folks!".
:swoon: :swoon: :help:

Mat 15:8 'THIS PEOPLE HONORS ME WITH THEIR LIPS, BUT THEIR HEART IS FAR AWAY FROM ME.

Mat 15:9 'BUT IN VAIN DO THEY WORSHIP ME, TEACHING AS DOCTRINES THE PRECEPTS OF MEN.' "

I can't help but notice that in many sub-forums this change has been all but ignored. It seems that this is yet another change whose main negative result is...the reaction to the change! Brilliant.

Go back to your regular sub-forums and start posting as you did before. See what's really changed. Then get back to us with some meaningful objections. This is just whining for the sake of it.

The WHOLE WEBSITE is Christian, not just the bottom part. The bottom part is just about theological stuff.
