I second Keri's reaction of, "[wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth]"!

Christ is the reason we all found ourselves here in the first place, and He has slowly been by political correctness and generalised ambiguity. :( :sigh:

"Forum-based Social Networking For You!", it's not even, "Forum-based Social Networking for Jesus!"

This is such shame. There's not much more I can say.:(

Well, I did my part in voting the other way back when he had the big poll going about this very issue. It really seemed that Erwin wanted to either make CF Christian in name only, or drop the name; either way, he wanted to secularize the place.

I dropped in a suggestion that he loosen up the word filter since it's not a Christian site anymore anyway. I don't know how far it's going to get, but if you want to weigh in on it, the thread is here.

I threw in the suggestion that he should've left 90% of the forums alone, as they were okay. The only problem was the tangos in the political forums, and now it's gone to this.

Still... I suggest that Christians should attempt to make the most of it here, and not leave, or you're going to show yourself off for what others think you are. Everyone's expecting all the conservative Christians to leave and not stand their ground.

I don't get it...

Why did he change it to foru.ms?

Because he pandered to the whiney few. One reason I left staff a long time ago.... and why I have the Jolly Roger flag... to show my rebellion. :)

That's actually not a bad idea- a rallying flag for the disaffected masses. Mind if I join? By the way, what's the wiki rebellion?

Not at all :)

And The Wiki Rebellion was my one-man opposition to the changes Erwin's been making here recently, particularly allowing the Wiki project to dictate the guidelines for the site.

Well I am disappointed. As a site supporter I thought I was supporting a 'Christian' based forum. Anyway I am not sure what I will do. I will be praying about it but you all are right - either we stay or leave. I am going to pray about it and see which way God wants me to go.

God bless, Evie

I'm kinda disappointed by the new changes, I ended up joining mostly based on the fact that when I googled "Christian Forum" I ended up here. I thought it would be nice to 'network' ;) with other likeminded people and get Christian centred ideas, values and opinions. And just not have to deal with the rubbish that goes on on some other sites.

It's a shame IMO. I think that's where Christianity is going off road at the moment, Churches ( and sites like this ) are trying to attract non believers by being like what they are used to and then they will come to know Jesus. Which is wrong thinking because people are attracted to Jesus and His followers because they are different, not because they are similar to what they already know and experience.

Anyway I've gone off on a tanget. I'll just have to wait and see what this site turns into.

I'm very very upset. I'm relatively new to these forums. I came here because I needed some fellowship with other Christians. I don't have a home church that I go to because all the churches around where I live are very lukewarm. So I thought I'd find a place online where I could talk with my brothers and sisters in Christ. Lo and behold I found CF. I thought it was awesome!

Then last month some changes happened that I wasn't too happy about. I liked the fact that some of the forum sections were for Christians only. Like I said, I came here for Christian fellowship. I've got nothing against people from other religions, but I wanted to connect with people from my own. I saw Erwin's point about wanting to reach out to the non-believers. I think a point was made that went something like this: "If we let non-believers into our church so we can help them understand about Christ, why don't we allow non-believers onto certain sections of this forum?" I saw that point and even though I really didn't like the fact that there was nowhere I could go to have only Christian fellowship, I remained here thinking it could be a good change if we let it be.

But now it's not even Christian anymore. I'm very upset. Now anyone can become an admin or moderator? What is with that!? Yes, we welcome unbelievers into our churches so that they may come to know Jesus Christ our Lord. But to put them in a position of leadership!? Come on! Would you allow a non-Christian to become choir director in your church? No. Would you allow him to become pastor? Leader? Deacon? Priest? Of course not! But we're allowing non-Christians to become admins and moderators on what was supposed to be a site for the witness for Christ and for the fellowship of Christians? This is ludicrous!

I deal with non-Christians on a daily basis. I see them, talk to them, interact with them etc. every day. I have to defend my faith against their dirty looks and foul mouths every day. I came here to spend some time with my brothers and sisters in Christ, not to have to worry about possibly being flamed by non-Christians for stating my mind. For having to censor my words because I don't want to get into a heated argument and have to defend my faith again!

I don't like where this site is going at all. The Bible warns us against this. God says He would rather have us hot or cold than lukewarm.

Revelations 3:15-16 "I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I would that you were cold or hot. So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth."

Unless some major changes are made around here so that this place is centered on Christ again, I don't think I'm going to stay. I also don't like the way this was done. Slowly and not all at once so that people could get used to little changes and more little changes and more little changes until CF is gone! I'm reminded of the story of the frog in the pot of water. Put a frog in a pot of boiling water and he'll jump right out. Put a frog in a pot of tepid water and slowly heat it, the frog will slowly boil to death. I have a feeling that is what is happening here. If this had happened all of a sudden instead of in slow installments, I believe a lot of us would have left. But because it's only getting slowly worse, we are adjusting ourselves and letting ourselves be fooled. This site is going to keep on changing until these forums can no longer be called Christian forums. Oh wait.....that's right....that's already happened. It's Foru.ms. :sigh:

lol, "Forum based Social networking???" Does he think he can compete with myspace and facebook or something? His site was terrible to begin with. Oh well, at least I won't be wasting any more time here.

I love how it's ad-supported, yet he also wants you to donate and become a "Foru.ms" supporter. He reminds me of a televangelist.

I admit that I was quite shocked when I saw the change. But, maybe it will be temporary, if things don't go well with the new forum. Maybe it will go back to the old name.

In the meantime, maybe it will be a good evangelistic opportunity for us. Perhaps the forums will attract those who are seeking positive people, but are lost spiritually. We can say to them, "By the way, have you ever heard of the 'four spiritual laws?' No? Well, please allow me a few minutes of your time..."

:cry:Everything I touch dies!

Seriously, though, the simple fact is that he can't compete with MySpace or Facebook. The only thing that drew me here, and kept me here, was the fact that it was CHRISTIAN. Now, Christians aren't even going to be able to find it. Non-christians will take one look at it and pass it over. And then it will fade to nothing.

I'd be ticked if I'd donated recently.

I went today from various stages of shock, to an incensed state, I had found this forum when searching for a place where I could have a Christian identity, especially because I was having certain with my personal faith. I am mortally offended at the turn this site has now taken. My solution is a bit extreme, I am creating a forum where I, and anybody else who thinks that this is a good option can go, it is presently in the infantile stages, and if anybody would be at all interested in it, I would appreciate involvement by anybody who would be. I apologize if I am hijacking the original intent of this thread in any, but I cannot foresee this site ever reattaining it's old level of meaning for me at least. The url for the forum I am presently working on is http://voiceinthestorm.ipbfree.com/index.php?act=idx, If anybody is interested. If nobody is, that's fine as well, but I wish to retain the contact with the people I had here, and I would greatly any input into how people this should work, and if they don't that's fine as well, I am just in shock at present. But again I think that this the only acceptable solution, as I think it is extremely unlikely that this site will ever become what it was before.
