This has been my exac position Trusting.

ALL ERWIN HAD TO DO WAS BETTER DEFINE THE TERM "CHRISTIAN" - to solve most of the fighting at CF!

Instead, he goes OPEN SECULAR and sheds the Christian name.
The NON conservative/orthodox/fundamental folks would have had their own section given to them or areas to be in, and the problem would have ended for the most part.
(JUST ADDING IN THAT YOU MUST ACCEPT THE SCRIPTURES AS 'INSPIRED BY GOD' would have ended alot of controversy all by itself!).

Instead, he refused to clarify the definitions, and took the "broad path". He wouldn't take a stand on it. (or like I mentioned, MAYBE HE HIMSELF embraces these differences and followed his own heart).

Someone would have disliked the definition/clarification of "Christian" - but doing this is wasn't necessary either.

For now, I plan to try to make good of it. God can always use a bad situation for good somehow.
He works ALL THINGS for the good of those who Love Him.

What decision did the community reach? Can't really call a 45/55 split where many weren't happy with either possibility conclusive, nor was there much progress in developing a third option.

Lisa if I am not mistaken (please forgive me if I am) after the 777 debacle many old Erwin posts were presented in which he said things like there would never be non-Christian moderators as long as he was Webmaster, and that the Nicene Creed would be the measure of a Christian as long as he was webmaster. When these were pointed out to you did you not respond with something like. "Haven't you ever changed your mind?"

That was my point EXACTLY!!!! Why did he say he would leave it up to the community and to the members and yet he did what he wanted to do....

I really don't understand what is going on with Erwin.

I have NEVER posted anything in response to the 7/7/7 changes...I didn't say anything at all in those threads but this is just to much!!! It would've been one thing if the majority had voted for the change but we DIDN'T!!! So what was the point of a vote? is this site really going to be self-governing? Can we really believe that is what is going to happen? Because Erwin didn't stand by his words before - why should we believe he will now?

Absolutely the opposite of the facts. Defining Christian was the problem in the first place.

I find the name change insulting. Not because I'm all hung up on having "Christian" in the title...just because nearly every single member here, believer or non, came here BECAUSE it was a Christ-centered forum.

The new name is just so stupid and superficial. I was proud of CF because it stood for something real. But this is a joke. It's embarrassing. And I'm glad I quit yesterday BEFORE I saw this happen.

Are you a trinitarian? Muslims are monotheists, so re mormons and JWs . Does the nature of God count or only the name we give him?

so I believe there's one God. But I have no idea how a discussion which looks like this:

"You're following a false Christ!"
"No, you are!"
"You're wrong!"
"No, I'm not!"

can be considered meaningful. And that kind of discussion is encouraged if telling other that they aren't "true Christians" is allowed.
