Erwin,
I had a mixed response to your 7-7-7 changes. I very much liked opening all forums to all posters, but I disliked eliminating the Nicene standard. Ideally, I would have liked to see the site rules state a Nicene definition for Christianity, but then allow people to self-identify and to post wherever, without witch hunts going on. This would have clarity of belief without exclusiveness.
This name change... I really don't know what to make of it. I'm unhappy that the old name is gone, but I'll stick around for awhile and see where it goes. I don't want to go to a site which is so narrow that only a particular subset of Christians are allowed to post; on the other hand, I do like the idea of a site which is explicitly Christian (without excluding anyone from posting).
Yes, this is your site and you can do what you want with it. Yes, there have been some histrionics from Christian members that make me cringe. No, I'm not accusing you of nefarious motives. But I'd just like to record my response to the recent changes: While I support opening the forums to all posters, I don't support the name-change or the lack of unifying faith statement.
(To be clear, we could have a statement of what the site believes -- I think the Nicene Creed is most appropriate for this -- but not go around policing members for whether or not they fit the criteria.)
I don't want to have a knee-jerk reaction, so I'm going to wait on a "stay/go" decision.
Grace and Peace,
Mac
