Lisa's got some southern girl in her, too.coke
We're halfway there...as an acceptable answer to the question of "what kind of coke do you want?" would also be "Pepsi."
Score!
Don't forget Dr Pepper! That's a kind of Coke, too.
Erm, nope...but it sounds pretty twisted.Has anyone here watched "Notes on a Scandal"?
It's not that twisted, but it is a bit too risque for the average CFer.Erm, nope...but it sounds pretty twisted.
Why do you ask, dear Redguard?
Yeah. Our church pastor is Irish. He doesn't have an accent, but when he impersonates his mom or dad, I can understand what he's saying easily.I really enjoy soft to moderate Irish accents (a lot ), but I agree that Irish and Scottish brogue is really hard to understand. The cadence is just so different than the accents and voices that I'm accustomed to, and it's hard for me to know how to listen, lol. That sounds weird, maybe.
So, yeah, I haven't seen the movie, but I agree that that's a tough accent to hear and understand if you're not accustomed to it.
I'm fixin' to say fixin' now!! Oops...lollol...you say fixin'...!!
I'm totally agreein with ya!"Y'all" is definitely part of my vocabulary. The amount of time I lose the "g" at the end of a word is directly proportionate to the time I spend around country speakers.
I think I say "soda" sometimes. But never "pop!" hahaWhat do you call a carbonated, sugary, fizzy drink? Hmmm?
Oh, I never can say that one quite right.I finally thought of a word - drawer
When I lived in California my co-workers used to make me say it just to laugh at me.
nice, huh?
Oooh, me too...I want to hear you! Thanks felinity! If you hadn't bumped this thread I would never have known it existed! It's fantastic...I love hearing other people's accents.
Problem is the only accents I can listen to are million pieces and heatherjay...the others all say something like "file not found"...is that because this thread is quite old?
South Africans have many different accents. It doesn't so much depend on your region as it does on your home language. I'm sure they would sound completely different to you but South Africans can hear straight away when somebody else is from SA.
If I feel brave I might post mine
This isn't marriage related...but anyways...
I know people from different regions have accents. Soooo, this question is for those of you that DON'T live in the USA. Do you think Americans have accents? Do you like the way they talk or not? Can you tell by hearing them if they are from the East Coast, West Coast, or the South?
And this next question is for everyone: Which accent do you like?
I love how women sound with Australian accents. And sometimes I think a man with an English accent sounds cute.
