Jack Chick Victims?

Have any of you been influenced by the lies of Jack Chick?

Perhaps he forgot about not bearing false witness against his brother?

Some outright lies he spreads:

1. Catholic worship Mary
2. Catholics worship Saints
3. Catholics pray TO Mary
4. Catholic pray TO Saints
5. Catholics eat the "Death Cookie"
6. Catholics are not Christians
7. Jesus didn't set up the Catholic Church
8. The Catholic Church has conducted a holocaust against true Christians

If any of you are a victim of these hateful lies, I hope you come to discover what we really believe.

Sigh. Do we have to start a Chick Tract thread again.

I used to be catholic, but it isn't Jack Chick who drove me away. It was catholics who drove me away.

Just as well. Now I have a relationship with god, which is something that was not available to me when I was catholic.

PS, those ideas did not originate with Chick Tracts. They've been around for centuries.

I interpreted that, not as some kind of condemnation, but as an acknowledgement that you are probably reacting to real experiences, not just third-hand accounts. I think he was acknowledging your experiences. I mean, I think all of us know people who had bad experiences with one branch or another of some denomination; the important thing is that you're able to find a way to have a good relationship with God.

First, I have real problems with Jack Chick.
He does something that is common to cults, He fishes inside the church. That is the first and most telling attribute of a person caught up in a cult.

But: How many people have come to Salvation because of Jack Chick?
And: How many of them would you want to send to Hell to have Zero Jack Chicks?

I'm not sure that any of them have been saved because of him; after all, it seems likely to me that people would use other tracts if Chick's weren't available.

More disturbingly: How many people have been *driven away* by Jack Chick? I certainly know people who have gotten the impression, from his tracts, that Christianity is a stupid and hateful religion... This may not be helping us.

Have can we judge them saved? After all, they are programmed to hate about 1.45 Billion other Christians, that happen to be Catholic.

To Eldermike:

The end doesn't justify the means. I don't think it's applicable that people who may have come to salvation via Chick Tracts were approached with the message of Christ ONLY through Chick Tracts. The message is there for you to find, whatever the means.

How many people are driven AWAY from God because of Jack Chick?

That may be, but I think the source has to be considered in these cases.

Frankly, would we accept a "Give Peace A Chance" tract if The Aryan Nation put it out? If it stopped wars in the Middle East would we hail that success despite the people behind the tract that "made a difference"?

I hear you, you make a valid argument. I still wonder though, is there one?
We can see from this forum that there are angry Christians, ready at the drop of a thought to post condemnation on the slightest variance from their beliefs. Are they saved? They might just be. They might not be good company but they might be saved. I don't know

I have worked with people that you might call haters of Catholics. They don't hate Catholics, they hate Catholic teachings. Let's be clear on this. I have seen thte worst of them and they all loved Catholics, it's not abut hating people. I do agree with the premis though, it's something that needs talking about. But let's do it right.
