Go peek again - Bot prevention you know? Did you know that most of the "people" you see logged in to CF are spider bots from various search engines?

You mean the guests we see here in great numbers at times, right? A buddy of mine explained to me some time ago.

Here we thought we were brilliant and irresistible.

The bot's are usually used by search engines to retrive info for their searches.

You'd be surprised how many times we make posst here and they wind up published all over the web.

It's too bad that I can't think of anything particularly brilliant to write then, eh? lol

Welcome back! (Even tho you never actually left) Glad to hear you had a change of heart. These are trying times - not just in this forum but in the world and it's good for confessional Christians to stay together to defend our faith. You never know who it might help!

Yeah, I've noticed that too. If we only keep what current members we have now in TCL and the few who trikle in we can still have a great forum. We'll always have enough trouble makers to come in and stir the pot so we can keep our debating hats cleaned off

We could always request our accounts be closed.

They won't do it. It's been brought up in another thread...can't remember which but it was recently after Erwin made his latest change.

I was told by another mod that it was an option.

I suppose we could be REAL baaaaaad and get ourselves permanently banned. That would eradicate our accounts.

Even then, they probably wouldn't delete them. Erwin would hold up the posts as examples of how NOT to act at the new Foru.bs forums.

When I used to mod...and this would have been well over two years ago, when the site was still called CF and the Lutheran forum TCCL...occasionally someone would get angry at how his report situation was handled and asked to have his account deleted. Others would ask to have their accounts deleted because they would spend too much time here or they felt the place was too much of a temptation in keeping their temperment in check. But in all cases there was no mechanism for that. So not having accounts deleted isn't the result of a new thing...it has always been that way.

I don't know. I have yet to see a message board format that did not include the ability to delete accounts. That doesn't mean that the mods would have that power, but the main administrator (usually the owner) does. I would think that it has more to do with the appearance of popularity, and every hit counts when it comes to advertising.
