None of them seem to roll of the tongue easily to me, but I don't have any good suggestions at the present moment, so I'll reserve my vote until one of them seems to do the trick or I come up with a better one. Nice to see a poll that says it'll be open a month and will probably stay true to that date. :D

I don't know.
Maybe something to the effect that God's word doesn't change no matter the generation.
A liberal view would be "times have changed" meaning they adopt the current stance of the "world"

So maybe something along the lines of
Gods word doesn't change with time, God's word the same yesterday as today, etc
I know the are long and we need something short.

I don't think a conservative is necessarily "rich in deep history"...... I am really liking what magdiel said above.....

I think the first suggestion is HILLARIOUS (we could even add "including finalizing our Wiki")! I love it, for that reason, but I'm not voting for it!

How about this:

THY WORD IS TRUTH

(that's from John 17:17)

I like this set of verses, taken from Matthew 5:13-16.

You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trodden under foot by men. "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

So I propose: The City on the Hill.

Interesting suggestions! I'm going to have to think on these for a bit.

One problem, though, is that 2 and 3 are so similar (unlike any other combinations) that if their votes are not added together, we are doing a real injustice to those voters. But my hesitation about 2 and 3 is that either is almost a replay of the title of the forum: "Nicene Christians--Conservative Christians." Number 4 is better in that respect, and it does say something we thought, in a recent thread, was important to include somewhere.

I'm not sure.

Maybe something about the unchanging and all knowing nature of the God we worship. Take in the omni's - omnipotent, imutable, etc. those fun big words.

Incedently there is a kids song from a popular christian childrens mucisian over here that has the word imutable in it.

I'm beginning to think that leaving it alone might be best.

There is no consensus emerging, and we don't need more divisiveness, especially over something like this that is purely optional. Note that several other forums have no "description," just the forum name.

And a few of the suggested descriptions don't refer to us here any more than they could to a number of other forums. Generally the description--if there is one--says something about the forum that sets it apart. For instance, One Bread One Body (RC), The Ancient Way (EO), Wesley's Chapel (Methodists), or Scripture, Tradition, Reason (Anglicans). Those are clearly indicative of something about those bodies of faith that wouldn't be appropriate for most other denominations, if any.

I agree! We are too diverse to be divisive. Ooh! That might be a good tag! ^_^

This just my opinion mind you but I think maybe we should put this on the backburner and discuss after we have our mods, get our rules in place and if we are going to have subforums if so for what and what rules do we want for them. After that then we should discuss if we want a motto and what it should be.
