If God already knew the history of the world before he created it, why do we exist? No doubt I'm grateful to be here (at least I think I'm real and not just a thought of God), but it has always puzzled me why God would create us if he already knew everything about us. Do you reckon he was lonely being by himself? Did he want someone he could share his perfect love with? Did he want to be worshipped? I guess this thread is open to speculation since only God knows why we are here.

EDIT: I totally missed the post in the broad theology forum. sorry

LonesomeTexan,

The answers to these age-old questions cannot be given to you by someone else. You must learn the answers through the experiences of your life. Book learning must be combined with experience. The longer you live the more you will learn; so be careful out there.

This is a great post. Never stop asking this question. Our thirst can never be satisfied until this question is answered. Surly God is a God of purpose and we must demand an answer. Otherwise our life is just a meaningless contradiction.

Paul writes in Ephesians 1:11 that we have predestinated according to the purpose of the One who work all things according to the counsel of His will. And again in 3:11 Paul mentions the eternal purpose of God.

So with that I would just mention that at the end of the Bible there is the grand universal glorious couple: Christ and His bride, AKA the New Jerusalem. There is also an interesting call by the Spirit and the bride in eternity future to us today in time to come and drink of the river of water of life freely. This partaking of the living water will satisfy our thirst and is a picture of the economy of God: God dispensing Himself into His chosen people.
