Oh that was bad. I couldn't understand why none of them had a cell phone with them. I know it was a couple of years ago but even I had one back then! and they really were not that smart to go out there without telling anyone where they were going...

Bad, bad story.

I actually saw that in the theater. As something of an otaku myself, anything anime-ish has a very low threshold to pass by me -- however the end part where the broom turned into the prince from the neighboring kingdom did strike me as exceedingly corny....
Well that sort of happened in the book but it had a totally different meaning to it altogther. Yes, it was way to corny and they missed a lot of the story. They totally messed the whole thing up.

V was such a huge disappointment. I used to be a big fan of Nat P in her pre-Star Wars days -- what happened to her????
I went to the movies last night and one of the previews was for a natalie portman movie that looked really really stupid. It's a kid's movie and it's about her and dustin hoffman owning a magic toy store and a big bad accountant who is trying to shut them down. I was like, even if i was a kid i would think this is stupid.

Agggh, you beat me to it! Oh well.
The summer before my freshman year of college, you could not throw rock without hitting some kind of Blair Witch hype. So for months, I went around thinking this was going to be an awesome movie, and when I get the chance to watch it for a buck on campus (on its way from the theaters to the Blockbuster clearance bin), I jumped. And suffered through ninety plotless, excruciating minutes. At least the Blair Witch made sure there wouldn't be a sequel.

I kept wondering why they just didn't burn the woods down.

But there is a semi-sequel... it's called "The Curse of the Blair Witch" I found it in the discount bin at Wally-World for like $2 so I bought it. It's an "Uncensored Investigation" lol. Sad to say, it was more interesting than the original film.

BUT I do give the kids credit for spending next to nothing and making a ton of money.

It was still a horrid movie.

haha. I thought it would be kind of cool. Seems like "A night in the museum" kind of movie.

I have a problem with any movie that is based on a book as they never really live up to the expectations of what you read. When I saw Howl's Moving Castle after reading the book I nerly cried. The story was so different yet had the same characters and some situations were the same but it all ended up wrong!
That's usually true, but there ARE some exceptions; "The Godfather," for example, was a MUCH better movie than a book, IMO.

What, that the crusades sucked and we shouldn't kill Muslims just for being Muslims?
Hmmm, too bad thats not what the crusades were about:scratch: The crusades were a series of campaigns waged to push back the Muslim invasion of Christian lands.

No, I know that's not what the Crusades were about; my point is, your assertion that the movie had some sort of agenda isn't quite so clear to me.

This thread is kind of cool. Every summer, my church does a sermon series based on movies, taking lessons from a particular movie to apply Christian life principals. They started with "Walk The Line" the first work and the second week was "Pursuit of Happiness." This weekend, they did "Nacho Libre." I saw it mentioned by earlier as a bad move, but the lesson taken from it was pretty awesome.

This is actually a really cool sermon series. The sanctuary is set up like a movie theater, and they sell sodas and candy (popcorn is free) in the lobby as you walk in. And unlike movie theaters, you can actually afford the snacks here, with cans of soda and candy only being 25cents each.
