Dinosaurs - Not extinct?

What she means to my knowledge, is that whatever words you may bring upon her... whatever so called " evidence " you bring upon her about evolution she won't be bothered... true... nothing false about the bible has been brought up... thats a good observation... evolution does bring some ppl's faith down... as it is a trick of satan to deceive... but what is FAITH for? Faith keeps us going... and it will continue to... :priest:

I think the big deception is to convince people that somehow, the truth of God's plan for salvation is destroyed if part of the Bible turns out to be about spiritual things, not physical things.

That's a pretty impressive deception, and it's driven a lot of people away from Christ.

I think I know where ya'all are coming from...only it irks me to keep my temper ( one of my biggest struggles ) under control.
I believe dinosaurs existed--I do believe in bones, especially since I just dug those of some sort of dead chicken-like thing out of my back yard a while back. I tell you, it looked very similer to a dinosaur skeleton, only it was just a normal dead bird. ;)
I believe in scientific facts, but not many of their theories. There's a difference in picking up a bone and saying it's a dinosaur bone and saying it's a dinosaur bone that came from 40 million years ago when an asteroid struck the earth ( you can guess I'm not very educated on the subject of asteroid protection )....
I have a couple questions for ya'all to discuss ( discuss, not argue )...

  1. If an asteroid did hit the earth, how come are we still here today? I know you'll probably mention the 'size' factor and all of that, but we're larger than many of the dinosaur skeletons found from that supposed period.
  2. What scientific evidence is there to support this theory?
  3. Okay, for the evolutionists or the people who think an asteroid hit earth--disprove the 'flood' idea...I know that the Grand Canyon, with all its layers, etc...is pretty hard to disprove, and the layers of mud all over the earth.
  4. Fourthly--who here likes popcorn?

1. Small asteroids have hit the earth repeatedly during your 14 years here. Your still here, aren't you?? An asteroid wouldn't have had to have wiped out all life, just changed things enough that one type of animal was no longer adapted to life on earth. Some models use climate change resulting from dust from an asteroid to explain dino die off.

Also...Not every dinosaur died because of the impact. Many other natural causes led to the demise of the specific fossil animals we find.

2. Go to the library and find a good book on Geology and evaluate the evidence carefully. I don't care if you don't agree with me, all I ask is an honest look at the evidence.

3. The grand canyon shows progression of the species and types of animals buried in it's many layers. We don't find cows or pigs or cats or sheep or other mamals in say Jurassic rock. We find very primitive animals in Cambrian era Rock. We find no animals of any types of rock that date, say, 1 billion years old.

also...

Ten million plus species of plants and animals live on our planet and we know that 98% of all previous species are now extinct. How did six people care for ten million species, feeding them, removing waste, etc.

Also...

Egypt, India, China, etc. Had developed civilizations in 2258 B.C. and they quite nicely missed the flood. How could it have been a worldwide flood if the Chinese didn't even notice.

Also...

It is beyond the load bearing strength of wood to build a boat 450 feet long. Impossible no matter what type of wood you use.

Also...

Genetics shows that certain groups such as the aboriginees (being Austrailian you can aprreciate this) are probably 35,000-40,000 years "seperated" from other humans. In other words they are fully human but it would have taken a long time for Genetic drift to have given them the Genetic traits they now posess.

4. I love popcorn. :)

In general, this theory comes along with the theory that our ancestors at the time were much, much, smaller than we are today.

[*]What scientific evidence is there to support this theory?

A lot of it is the sudden massive extinction.

Ahh, but the Grand Canyon itself is totally inconsistent with a flood, in many ways; indeed, it shows us the kind of geology predicted by plate tectonics, but not that predicted by floods.

Out of curiousity, in this hypothetical flood, how much water do you think there was? Where do you think it went? Did God create new water, and then destroy it, or did He put it somewhere?

[*]Fourthly--who here likes popcorn?

I love the flavour of popcorn, I hate popcorn itself. Why do I hate popcorn? Because my wife always makes it in the good saucepan, and we end up with burnt bits of popcorn in the bottom of the pan.

Almost completely what i was going to say, But i want to say something.  There is 10000+ asteroids in the asteroids belt and 100000000+ that we can't see most are the size of basketballs and cars, but almost all of them are big enough to kill all life on earth, and we know its really prossible that we can get hit.  After the impact of the Comet Shoemaker-Levy hit jupiter, and ONE of the comet pieces that hit jupiter hit with so much power that it would have been like a atom bomb going off every second for 5 years.  And its not a matter of if, its a matter of when we will get hit again the earth has been hit there is real proof of this that was found in the Mexico's gulf where the asteroid that killed the dinos hit.  Plus there is even evidence that atleast two comets exploited in the 20 century.  One was in Tunguska Russia, and this was in 1908. (http://www.orc.ru/~azorcord/).  Alsos there was another one but right now i can't remember where it was, but it wasn't to long ago.  If we find a asteroid that will hit us in 100 years i am not worried about it, even 30 or 40 years, but if they find one and it will hit us in 5 years well there isn't anything we can do but die.  But the one i am really WORRIED about it the one we will not see until it is coming through our atmosphere and then we see it and we will be gone.  No matter if it hits land or Water.

Interesting that you should notice this. Birds evolved from dinosuars. Your on your way to becoming a scientist.

Welcome to the study of the natural world.

yeah i know but after what happened to jupiter, alot of people in NASA say that we could get hit soon its just a matter of when

Seesaw, the odds of an asteroid hit are pretty small, but the odds are the same at any given time, so a major impact is as likely today as it is 15 million years from now. Don't worry about it. You are more likely to be struck by lightning while typing on your computer right now.

The last one that had a major impact on life on earth (pun intended) was about 65 million years ago. The evidence for this is a honking big crater in the Yucatan that dates to 65 million years ago, certain types of rare isotopes through the layer of rock layed down at this time, and a strange coincidental die off of about 70% of all species alive at the time. You can't say for sure that the dinos were killed by this impact, but it sure is an awfully big coincidence, ain't it?

The last time I looked at this in any way it appeared there have been about 5 events of this type in the history of the earth.
