This is an article about, specifically, an Illinois city making a portion of their Lake Michigan beachfront adults-only. There's also some global discussion about the idea of parents bringing kids to places that have traditionally been "adults-only," such as nail salons, fancy restaurants, etc.

I'd love to hear what you think!

I've never really had a problem thinking I'm going to go somewhere for a nice "quiet" adults only thing only to be annoyed by kiddy behaviour. I guess it's all in expectations.

If we go out to eat at Kelsey's or East Side Mario"s, you expect families to be present. If we're not in the mood for that and we want quiet and romance we choose a fine dining restaurant.

If I wanted to get away, I'd choose a couples only resort- not one that caters to families. To me it's simple.

I used to get really annoyed by peoples' unrealistic expectations when I worked at one of Toronto's biggest family restaurants- it's literally a kid magnet.
Couples would come in requesting a more intimate table away from the families! I used to tell them to go down the street to another establishment. :sorry:

I think adult only sections in restaurants would be amazing. Its a great compromise. To be honest I really cannot see why people would get offended.

I am off to Las Vegas in September so that will be a nice adult holiday as the place actively discourages children (the main Strip does anyway) then the week after I am off to Orlando but as its during the school term there wont be as many children and 2 years ago when I went in September there was no queues either. It was a great holiday.

Ver interesting.. I mean I can relate to that beach thing for sure. That is why I go to a place that has very few people there. It's like when families come to the beach with their children they just let them loose. No rules & such. And as far as kids in restraunts as far as they are behaving I can handle it.
