Wow. 1000 posts in this thread in a few short hours, and I'm now nearly to 2000 myself. :) I have reason to hope my 2000th post will be a part of a good discussion somewhere on this board. I don't know where just now...

I hope I don't turn out to be half the bugbear as feared. I'm optimistic for all of us.

It's nearly 4:00 am here. The birds will soon start singing, so I'm turning in. Good night all.

Maybe just one more time:

!!! LISTEN !!!

This is a time of flux. A time of passion.

Please. Try not to say something you'll regret in the morning.

Please. Try not to hold something against a friend that was said in the heat of the moment.

Yes, air your griefs, your jubilations. Just think first. Count to 10, and re-read your post before hitting submit.

What part of the Trinity do you consider a figment of our imagination? Just what particular parts of the Creeds do you think are not rooted in Scripture?

Why does this kind of statement surprise me?

This is EXACTLY what 'the site formerly known as CF' is going to foster and it will lead those seeking true Christianity to error from the get-go.

1: Where exactly did I say the trinity was a figment of imagination?

2: My church is a nicene creed accepting church.

3: However the creeds are merely human formulations of our understandings of God not the Word of God itself.

A couple of points before I go to sleep:

If I understand correctly, subforums can be created by request and each of those subforums will need to be moderated. Who is going to handle the massive amount of requests for new forums? Here you also run into another problem. All of these little forums are still running under the ban of "Christian Forums." What if JWs or Mormons want their own forum? They say they're Christians. Does that get allowed? Where do you draw the line? If it is Moderators who will be determining what the new forums are, then even more work is being created for them because now they have to make decisions based upon no guidelines, so there is no accountability. There are also no safeguards keeping mods from simply opening up the subforums that they want to and saying "no" to the ones they disagree with, and that is especially disturbing since now they will all be elected by popular vote.

Next, scripture use. For those who were offended at the "fools" reference - that is a scripture. It's not even ambiguous. "The fool has said in his heart, 'there is no God.'" Now yes, there are a couple of ways I can use this Scripture. I can hurl it at someone's head as an insult, and that would be wrong. However, I can also just simple state that it is absolutely true based on the Word of God among other Christians and it appears that now I might be accused of flaming. Does no one see the vast ramifications of this? I cannot state spiritual truths in a respectful tone because it offends someone? In other words, I will have to go and talk to another Christian privately to say what I really think, which was kind of the whole purpose of the Christians-only forums?

Sleeping sounds like a wonderful idea.

Then I can catch up on the dozen or so more thread continuations that have spawned :D

Everyone who's upset - think about giving it a chance before leaving? It's probably not going to be as bad as you think.

Oy! Talk about some arguments! I haven't read them all, but skimmed through the entire thread, reading bits and pieces here and there.

First, I'd like to say that I think this is a bold move and I pray that it works well. I have my concerns, but most of them have already been expressed. I look forward to seeing how God moves through these upcoming changes.

Well I'm off to catch some ZZZzzzz

But I was thinking about one thing.
A lot of people are worried about the faith icons. My question is how many people have a "faith icon" when they go to church ? I've never seen one personally.

I don't really see a problem with his comment. Of course what God reveals to us isn't a part of our imagination.

But creeds are inerrant messages from God! Don't get me wrong, they are pretty close. But they are man's understanding + the Word. It cannot be pure, just like 99.99% gold is not pure.

The Creeds are rooted very well in scripture, but they aren't scripture and aren't inherent.

I have one last thing I'd like to add before (finally) going to bed. It has been said before, but it bears repeating. This is Erwin's site. He gets the final say. I trust that he is getting his guidance from the Lord. He's not perfect, none of us are. But I do believe he is trying to do what is best, for better or for worse.

I am adamantly opposed to removing "Christian only" sections.

Also: the Nicene Creep was a valid and well thought out indicator.

Allowing anyone into the Christian Only section may cause the Christians a great deal of Grief.

Mormons, JWs, everyone.

And we can't denounce someone as non-Christian anyway.

Even if they are blatantly non-Christian.

So now, anyone can just say they are a Christian.

No more sense of mutual agreement.

I also dislike the removal of warnings.

I liked warnings.

I got a lot of warnings, check my record.

But they were useful and were important.

Moderators should not be chosen by the community.

I like the way it is now.

I don't want to win a popularity contest to become a moderator.

I feal it is my duty to debate in the Christian Teens section to win the hearts and minds of those on the edges, to weed out bad teachings and help guide teens who are confused, towards a better understand of scripture.
Will, in the middle of a debate, when I am just moving towards showing him the truth in his life for Christ, and atheist be able to enter, and derail everything with posts against what I am saying?

I have no issue with how it is now.

It fosters Christian fellowship.

But this will unhinge that if I understand it right.
