So is this the general consensus?

One final point should be made.

Yes, an attack on the Papacy is an attack on Catholicism and Catholics, because Catholics believe that the Pope is the Vicar of Christ on earth. He holds an exalted position not heard of in Orthodoxy. And this was part of the reason we experienced the Great Schism of 1054 AD.

In Orthodoxy, we do not view the Patriarch as the Vicar of Christ, so we don't have the same mindset or ethos.

On the other hand, we have the example of St. Seraphim of Sarov who could love and pray for a Catholic, Protestant, Jew, or Muslim without becoming an ecumenist. It really takes a saint to be able to be so balanced that he can love all men and through love lead them to Christ our God.

Alrightly then.

Does this mean all Catholics in general, or just those who are lukewarm?

I remember congratulating the brothers and sister on one of the holidays of the Church and then being corrected here that I was late 2 weeks – I was not – just because you use the new calendar does not mean that 200 million Russians and 10 million Serbs and 60 million Ukrainians (which if my arithmetics serve me right represent THE MAJORITY of Orthodox) do not matter and can not congratulate their feasts according to Orthodox calendar.

I'm gonna have to see that thread dug up and quoted before I will believe that it wasn't said in jest. Americans are fully aware of the Old Calendar. In fact, we have churches on both calendars. My priest and his family celebrate holidays on the New Calendar here, and then again with their family (in Pittsburgh, which is part of America) on the Old Calendar. The Serbian churches here are OC, as well as the ROCOR. There are churches in America (I'm thinking the OCA cathedral in D.C., Monica, is that right?) that celebrate holidays on both calendars in the same building.

We have a town in Kentucky called Athens. Except it's pronounced with a long "A" sound. So it's a running joke around here that whenever Athens Greece (or even Athens, Georgia) comes up in conversation, you have to "correct" the person and say, "You mean, "Aythens?" It's a joke, like the comment you're upset about most likely was.

St. Seraphim of Sarov loved all men as they were made in the image and likeness of God. He wanted everyone to become a saint. He so radiated God's love that he shown with a heavenly light and so was transfigured on this earth. He would become so brilliantly white that people could not gaze at him.

Anyone who came to see the saintly Seraphim was changed for the better as he greeted all with, "My joy, Christ is risen."

So, he did not judge who was lukewarm and who was not, although he could read the state of souls and see their interior condition.

He sounds like a very holy man, I will be sure and look him up.

Padre Pio had the stigmata - the sign of the Crucifixion

Saint Seraphim shown with the holy light of the Resurrection, as did the Catholic Saint Dominic Guzman, the founder of the Dominicans.

I don't think any Orthodox saints have borne the stigmata.

That's interesting. When you say the "light of the Resurrection" do you mean, as in like an image of Christ's Glorified Body?

I didnt know that.
I wondered about the EO Saints...if they ever had the stigmata.

There is a woman who currectly receives the stigmata and she is an Eastern Orthodox.
I forget her name.

But they put a hidden camera in her room and it happened suddenly on her.

Maybe you should start another thread about the stigmata as the OP has requested that this current thread be closed.
