New pastor

The new pastor was visiting in the homes of his parishioners. At one
house it seemed obvious that someone was at home, but no answer
came to his repeated knocks at the door. He took out a card, wrote
"Revelation 3:20" on the back and stuck it in the door. When the
offering was processed the following Sunday, he found that his card
had been returned. Added to it was this cryptic message, "Genesis
3:10." Reaching for his Bible to check out the citation, he burst into
laughter. Revelation 3:20 begins "Behold, I stand at the door and
knock." Genesis 3:10 reads, "I heard your voice in the garden and I
was afraid for I was naked."

Reminds me of the one about the guy who had just gotten married, and he got a letter from his draft board to report for his physical.

He returned the letter with Deuteronomy 24:5 written across the bottom: "When a man hath taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war, neither shall he be charged with any business: but he shall be free at home one year, and shall cheer up his wife which he hath taken."

Within two days, he got a letter back from the draft board, bearing Matthew 8:9: "I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it."
