Confusing...

My first class in Catholic high school, before we could have any other theology: Scripture Class.

It was taught freshman year as the base that we could not build without.

One of my friends says that the Prot churches she's been to [and have been going all her life] are no where near Scripture-centered as Mass.

At the same time, sometimes it seems like Catholics are all about tradition and the Pope (the impression seems to dominate among Prots who 'argue' via biblical footnoting... then again I haven't met a Catholic who can exegete).

Of course, there's also a plenary indulgence for reading Scripture . I like to share this fact when people accuse the Church of discouraging the reading Scripture so Catholicsdon't learn doctrines like indulgences are unbiblical (which of course is untrue).
