what about the person of Christ ?
What about Him?
There are many Scriptures about Him.
And, of course, even He referred us to Holy Scripture, authoritatively and normatively, over 50 times.
Thank you.

right, but I get the sense that in SS, scripture about Christ, not the person of Christ, is the normWhat about Him?

Very nice! The Authority (power) of Christ is the one who interprets, interpretations belong to God.
Luke 24:45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
Christ is come who giveth us an understanding because that is exactly what HE DOES, the DEAF hearing is in rrelation to THE BOOK and the BLIND seeing is the EYES of our understanding. HE does that as HE not men IS the POWER of God. We have been given the MIND of Christ that we might KNOW what GOD has given us in Christ.
1Cr 2:13 Which things also we speak, ~not~ in the words which ~man's wisdom~ teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing ~spiritual things~ with ~spiritual~.
The Apostles tell us that we NEED NOT any man to teach us, because THIS is the NC promise that they need no man to teach them SAYING know THE LORD that they will all know Him from the least unto the greatest
1John 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need ~not~ that ~any man~ teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
Love them apostles, how true are they to Him to speak faithfully and instill a confidence in Him and His power to do what He is promised.
Any man speaking contrary to them is sorta a given, denying ~the power~...

Amen! The NT is a fulfillment of the OT, the OT reveals prophetically the salvific plan of the NT; scripture does indeed "interpret scripture".
I can only speak, of course, from personal experience ... but there are many rather distressing interpretations "out there' which claim authority from scripture and the Holy Spirit.
Revelation, transformation, renewal; all these come in Christ, I agree.
I think we all sometimes, at least, consult those with more "knowledge" about what we read in the Bible. For the some of us, the ECFs are those who understood more deeply because they were more spiritually mature.
That could be so. They also didn't have as good of access to Greek and Hebrew resources to translate with.Originally Posted by Thekla

Reve 12:7 And became battle in the Heaven, the Miyka'el and the messengers of him, battle with the Dragon, and the Dragon battles, and the messengers of him 8 and not he is strong, neither [was] place was found of them still in the heaven.

... just from personal experience, my dad (a protestant minister) was officially denounced by another minister for being a communist because my dad read NT Greek ...
And I can also say Daniel and Revelation were not the easiest books to understand back in those times of which I am now working on.
best !

I remember the days you were of the devil if you did NOT adhere to the KJV, now I your a devil if you do
Yet neither has anything to do with the pure and undefiled religion God accepts... Its nuts.
Thanks to online one can check various translations
The scriptures speak of the Living Christ. If one is not seeing Him in them and coming to Him what in the world are they looking at anyways?
P.S Lamb this has nothing to do with your post to Thelka. Her post about her Father made me think of that for some reason
Peace

I just say, Let em' talk.
Like the form of knowledge is considered knowing it all.
Its in part, thank God really Im no wise one for sure.
Im glad the Lord said the wise are those who hear and DO verses having the book "theorectically" figured out (especially into some of the stuff I heard). Christ sorta just dangles off the edge of their theology.
No one not doing what He says is staring at his heavenly reflection anyways.

No, absolutly that's not what I meant to convey.
I have been more hasty than needed in my
posts.
Forgive me for this impression.
The enemy very much fights against the Word of God, HE can use anyone, myself included to fight his battles.
unwittingly.
