I was doing a translation of Daniel 11 along with word studies on it and came across this word for God in Dan 11:39.
These 2 words are also used in Malachi 2:11 and I would like to know what is the difference of the word used for "God" in Daniel and the one used in Malachi? Just curious.

Daniel 11:39 and He does to fortresses/04013 mibtsar of strong-refuge/04581 ma`owz with a STRANGE/05236 nekar god/'Elowahh, whom He recognizes increasing glory/03519 kabowd, and He causes to rule Them in [a] multitude and ground/0127 'adamah. And he apportions in price/hire.

Malachi 2:11 Y@huwdah hath dealt treacherously, and an abomination is committed in Yisra'el and in Y@ruwshalaim; for Y@huwdah hath profaned the holiness of YAHWEH which he loveth, and he hath married the daughter of a STRANGE/05236 nekar god/0410 'El.

'el (Strong's 0410) occurs 245 times in 235 verses:

'elowahh (Strong's 0433) occurs 57 times in 56 verses:

I do have a hard time figuring out your questions Lamb^_^

I never look straight on at words concreted in the verse. I would pick up on "fortresses" verses God who is our "fortress". "Increase" (of glory) "causes to rule" and the word "strange" and compare elsewhere. The word "strange god" is written out elsewhere (straight) as well.

What cha getting?

Peace

I read Daniel today, Little Lamb, and the same name struck me. I don't have my reference books here with me so I am assuming that it's a Babylonian variation of the word "el". Aramaic? I've not googled or anything yet!
Thanks. The book of Job uses that word pretty extensively I noticed.

Job 3:4 That day--let it be darkness, Let not God/0433 'elowahh require it from above, Nor let light shine upon it.

Job 4:9 From the blasting-breath/5397 n@shamah of God/0433 'elowahh they perish, And from the spirit/07307 ruwach of His anger consumed.

:) I will probably spend the next year on Daniel 11 as I have just gotten into translating it so I can harmonize it with Revelation and the NT better LOL. It is a rather difficult book to translate and I will indeed be comparing how words are used in it.
After all it is a "Great War/Host".

Daniel 10:1 In the third year of Cyrus["posses thou the Furnace"], King of Persia["pure/splended"], a thing, was revealed unto Daniel["God is my Judge"], whose name was called Belteshazzar["Lord of the straightened treasure"]; and True was the thing, even [concerned] a great Army/Host [#06635], and he understood the thing, and had understanding in the sight/appearance............

elowahh,

strongs says it is akin to 'el' and we know that it is not speaking of our Father, but of a mythical god, who Satan (antiChrist) will call upon.... symbolically, for I am sure that Satan knows that there is no gods.
Then why does Job also use it for God?
As far as "satan" calling upon a false "God", those would be the Abrahamic Jews and Muslims of today, since neither of them believe Jesus was Crucified and Resurrected.

Job 4:9 From the blasting-breath/5397 n@shamah of God/0433 'elowahh they perish, And from the spirit/07307 ruwach of His anger consumed.
