"I Refuse To Be Discouraged"

I refuse to be discouraged,
To be sad, or to cry;
I refuse to be downhearted,
and here's the reason why . . .

I have a God who's mighty,
Who's sovereign and supreme;
I have a God who loves me,
and I am on His team.

He is all wise and powerful,
Jesus is His name;
Though everything is changeable,
My God remains the same.

My God knows all that's happening;
Beginning to the end,
His presence is my comfort,
He is my dearest friend.

When sickness comes to weaken me,
To bring my head down low,
I call upon my mighty God;
Into His arms I go.

When circumstances threaten
to rob me from my peace;
He draws me close unto His breast,
Where all my strivings cease.

And when my heart melts within me,
and weakness takes control;
He gathers me into His arms,
He soothes my heart and soul.

The great "I AM" is with me,
My life is in His hand,
The "Son of the Lord" is my hope,
It's in His strength I stand.

I refuse to be defeated,
My eyes are on my God;
He has promised to be with me,
as through this life I trod.

I'm looking past all my circumstances,
To Heaven's throne above;
My prayers have reached the heart of God,
I'm resting in His love.

I give God thanks in everything,
My eyes are on His face;
The battle's His, the victory is mine;
He'll help me win the race.

God's Son

On this day, Good Friday
I see God's Son Jesus hanging there for me
His face, His eyes full of blood
From the crown of thorns upon His head
His beard has been pulled from His face
Hanging naked, shamed and disgraced
Jesus body is racked in horrible pain
From the torture inflicted by satans helpers
It would drive a normal man insane

On this day on the cross hangs God's Son
The marks of the whip on His body I do see
Taking away His flesh to the bone
O God! did He have to drink this cup alone
His body beaten, torn and covered with blood
Each breathe causes more unbearable pain
He was hated, cursed and condemned to die on that cruel tree
Was I among that crowd who cried "Crucified Him!"
I am guilty! O God help me
My sin, my sin put Him on that tree
If not for His sacrifice, in hell I would be

My heart cries out, this is God's Son
I lay me down at the foot of the cross
In wonderment and in awe at His love for me
I'm saved! I'm saved! no longer lost
May my heart always pour out His love
To you and to everyone

Below His mother stood in the crowd.
The sky grew dark; the earth did quake.
The world didn't see their own mistake.

The nails that held His hands and feet
To that cruel cross brought love so sweet.
The blood that came from His pierced side;
Then, "It is finished," the Saviour cried.

There were many tears that fell that day,

The crowd, it turned and walked away;

The gates were opened for all, not some.
They turned not knowing whence they had come.

When Jesus to His Father for our souls did pray.

Even now man fails to see
The message of Mount Calvary.

He's coming back to claim His own,
For the Bible tells what should be known.
The knees will bow, the heart will break,
For God sent Jesus for our souls' sake.

I am only a sinner Lord,
please shine your light on me.
Give me the strength and the courage
to be all you want me to be.

Send down your tender mercy,
Lord, let your love shine through.
Show me the right road to take
to bring me back too you.

Wash my sins white as snow...
mold me according to your plan.

as the angels sang and His Glory filled the earth.
I wish I could have knelt beside His little bed....
and been able to touch His tiny sweet head.

to watch Him as his ministry began.
I would have liked to look into His eyes so pure and clear,
and listened to the wisdom of this man so dear.​

I think of the day when on a donkey He rode into the city,
and with tears in His eyes ....He looked at Jerusalem with great pity.
In one week their praises would turn to scorn....
and God's plan would begin to reveal the purpose of His being born.​

What sorrow I would feel in my heart,
If at that "Last supper" I'd taken part.
To sit and listen and partake and not understand....
That long ago all of this had been planned.​

Would I have stayed at Jesus' side
when they arrested Him and had Him tried?
Beaten, mocked, and sentenced to die.....
Pronounced "Guilty" for the sins of you and I?​

What pain I would feel as He stumbled up Calvary's road,
with the weight of the Cross and the sins of the world...
How my heart would pierce with pain and fear......
as his death grew more near and near.​

I would hide my face to scream and wail,
to cover the sound of the pounding of each nail.
With tears in my eyes, I would look and see.....
That it was for my sins, and ......it should have been me!​

Can you imagine being there on the third day at dawn,
the surprise and confusion to see Him gone?
Words cannot be expressed how it would be to see Him face to face.
I can only wonder what it would have been like at that time and place.​

Now is the time to make your choice!
If you choose Christ, all the angels will rejoice.
Just open up your heart and let Him come in......

and He will cleanse your life from all it's sin!​
