Revelation 7:1 (NIV) "After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth to prevent any wind from blowing on the land or on the sea or on any tree."

The Bible refers here to four corners. There are no corners in a sphere.

Job 28:23+24 (NIV) "God understands the way to it and he alone knows where it dwells, for he views the ends of the earth and sees everything under the heavens."

God sees the 'ends' of the earth. God can not see the end of a sphere.

Biblical speaking the earth is flat. :p

"What about the context shows that it's not a literal statement? And how does this context differ from that of Genesis 1:1?"

well your first clue should be the context itself. How far "up" do you have to look to see heaven. considering there is no "up" in space this statement can't be literal. Just think about it man..shessh.

Where does it say "up" in the passage?

I guess you're not reading it clearly. Under. impliing you have to look up to the heavens since the earth is under it. thus I would say this is a non-literal passage in terms of directions and as an extension, "ends" of the earth is not a literal phrase either but ment to denounce the far reachs of the earth, discovered and undiscovered alike.

So I can't literally look "up" at the skies? That's quite a stretch, Louis.

and as an extension, "six days" is not a literal phrase either but ment to denounce a long period of time. After all, a day to God is like millennia to mortals (or something like that).
