Last night at church I was delivered from smoking. I went to a church that I don't usually go to. The pastor preached about smoking and then asked if anyone wanted to be delivered from it. I went up. He annointed our hands and our forehead and then prayed over us. All but one of us rested in the Spirit. It was amazing!   Thank you Jesus!

Dear PeaceLover:

I remember the day I was prayed for about smoking and I would like to share with the hopes it will encourage your heart.

It was on a Sunday a.m. and it just seemed like the atmosphere was full of faith and expectancy, but I did not have any at all. I could feel others faith around me and I enjoyed the worship service and the pastor stepped up to the microphone and said, "I believe God wants to help some folks today and heal them. If you are one of those people needing God to do something in your life then please come forward for prayer."

I got up from my seat to go up and ask for prayer for my physical needs. I had been sick a lot that year. There was many folk up there to be prayed for serious needed healing. Our church was full that a.m. and so I had a wait. While I waited, I sang the songs the worship team was singing and so I would not notice being on my feet so long. When pastor and the ministry team got there the only thing I could think of to say was "I don't want to smoke anymore." I did not plan to say that and I did not plan to give up smoking because I enjoyed it. However, God saw fit that Sunday morning to heal me in a most amazing way. That Sunday a.m. was October 26, 1997 that God healed me from a 24-year, 4 pack a day addiction to cigarettes.

I had tried so many times in my own strength and failed. I had been shamed so many times by family members, well meaning Christians and evangelists, but I was not able to quit even with the shame. I daily received reproach from me, but I still could not quit.

God healed me that Sunday a.m. I went home thinking I was not healed because I did not "feel" anything. I picked up a cigarette and started smoking. The only thing I could do was cry all the way through the cigarette until I eventually stubbed it out and then jumped up and down on the pack of cigarettes I had screaming, "I hate you! You deceived me! You tried to tell me you were my friend and I needed you." I do not know where all that indignation came from and those words but I remember saying them.

I had four cartons of cigarettes in my freezer. I never wanted to be without cigarettes so I kept cigarettes at all times. Those cigarettes stayed in my freezer until I moved in 2000. I knew I could pick them up any time I wanted to but I never wanted them back. THAT WAS GOD and how HE worked in my life.

Congratulations PeaceLover with allowing God to work in your life. :)
Wow..newsong...thats a great testimony of Gods saving power and your faith in Him!

Glory to God! Praise His name!

Woo-hoo! I am rejoicing with you! ^_^

Just a word of caution, from one who has quit 3 times -

Don't ever go back. Don't even entertain the idea for one second.

The third time I remained free, but each time was progressively harder to quit. Be fixed. Be immovable. Hold fast that which the Lord has done for you. When the devil comes to tempt you, say, "No way. I was delivered March 7, and I'm not going back."

Praise God, you're free!

Praise God, Peacelover! I rejoice with you! Nice name, too.

Folks, this does not need to be an excuse to argue doctrines (Existential or otherwise). Let's just rejoice of her being freed, ok? I mean, look at her name. Now, if she called herself, say, "Loaded for bear, and cruisin' for trouble", or "BornToRaiseHell", I would butt out and say "Have at it!".
