Hello

I lost my husband on September 3 2006. It was very sudden, and unexpected. He died instantly from a massive heart attack. We were married for 22 years.

I have been a member here at CF for a while, and didn't know there was a widow/widower forum. I found it on a google search this morning.

What a pleasant surprise! I have wonderful friends here that support me, but it is good to read the threads of those who are feeling the same as I do, after losing a loving spouse.

I hope to get to know you all, and offer you support as well.

Hello Dawiddlegirl. I am sorry about your husband. I lost my wife on June 4, 2006 from a lung disease, and this site is the best thing I have found so far. Yes, I too have friends, but they have no idea just how much it hurts to not have that shoulder to lean on during the dark times. Just keep your faith in our Lord and He will help you on this journey. He will walk with you when you need a friend, and He will carry you when you need support, just like the poem says.
God bless,
Missinyou

Thank you for welcoming me Missingyou. I have read some of your posts. I'm very sorry about your wife.

You know how difficult it is. If I didn't have God to lean on I don't know how I would have survived.

Hi, Dawiddlegirl,

I found this website also by a google search and everyone on this forum has become someone who is very dear to me. It is comforting to know others who share in this terrible pain. Friends try to comfort, but they really do not have any idea of the pain.

My husband also died suddenly on October 6th. We had a wonderful time at dinner at our local Wendy's and then I went to church for a women's fellowship meeting. Terry and our son went home, he joked around with our children, and then died. The EMT's said he never knew what hit him and that he didn't feel anything.

Terry was alone when he died, our children had just left the family room. I was feeling so sad that he was alone when he died, but my grief counselor helped me. He said Terry wasn't alone, an angel was with him. I found that to be so comforting.

Well, welcome. While this can be a very sad forum, it is also one filled with the hope of those who believe.

Jean

Hi Jean,
I love the picture on your profile of you and your husband. What a great looking couple!

Your journey together in this earthly life may be finished for now, but I'm sure you know in your heart that you will see him again.

I am very sure he wasn't alone. Those that have passed on that loved him were there with him holding him and welcoming him to the overwhelming and glorious beauty of everlasting life.

I just need to hug you, because I know how you miss him and how your heart aches. I will pray for God to heal your heart.
((((JEAN))))

I am also praying for you, Missingyou.

((((Missingyou))))

GUESS WHAT JEAN??

We have a few thing in common! I live in SouthEastern
Pa too.

I also read Beverly Lewis. I just read the book where the gal lost her family in a horendous car accident, and could no longer speak.

OH Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I can't remember the name of that book!

Thank you for your caring encouragement.

I'm not at home right now. I'm away on business on Lake Erie--and it is bitter cold. I think the book you are talking about is The Postcard or its sequel The Crossroad.

Do you live near Lancaster? There is a great bookstore in the Rockvale Outlets called The Bible Factory Outlet. That is where I get a lot of great christian fiction.

P.S. The picture of us was taken in New Orleans. Right after our daughter was married in 2004, we took a quick vacation in Galveston, Texas.--just the two of us. On the drive home we stopped in New Orleans for a total of 2 hours. Long enough for a carriage ride and a bite to eat. New Orleans was very interesting!!

Dawiddlegirl- Welcome. I wish it didn't have to be under these circumstances, but you can come here as often as you need to, drink from this fountain of comfort and rest with friends who understand. Our journey is complicated, often mis-understood, never easy, but never traveled alone. I believe God is building us, shaping us as the Master Potter. We will rejoice, we have already obtained the victory. In some strange way, "It is Well" with our souls. Keep the faith, and always Press On!!

You're right, the book was the "Postcard." The whole story was based around that old postcard that the writer found in a dresser at that bed and breakfast.

I'm about 30 minutes from Lancaster and do go quite often. I haven't been to that book store.

I take my granddaughter to theHole in the Wall Puppet Theatre performances downtown.

I love to go to Shady Maple to eat. MMMMMMMMM!!!:D
What a Smorgasbourg!

Have you ever gone shopping in the lower level of Shady Maple? I love the items they have there, everything is quite unique. The store next to Shady Maple with the Amish furniture is beautiful, too. How about the American Music Theatre? I have attended quite a few concerts there. In fact, Terry and I saw Three Dog Night (how's that for an oldier but goodie) last March. I live about 45 minutes from there.

Oh Yes, I have shopped in the store downstairs. Lovely unique items!! I haven't been in the furnture store. I'll have to check it out. I'm looking for bunkbeds for my granddaughter's room.

You saw 3 Dog Night?? How fun! Non stop hit songs!((Humming)) "Just An Old Fashioned Love Somg" ;)

I haven't been to that theater. Is that the same as The Sight & Sound theatre where they have the Cristmas show? We were supposed to go this last Christmas, but my Granddaughter got very sick.

Sight and Sound is on Route 896 and the American Music Theatre is on Route 30. They are a couple of miles apart. Terry and I saw "Daniel" at Sight and Sound. It was wonderful. American Music Theatre is a really nice theatre and they have great concerts and shows. Quite a few christian performers are there.

There's a church in Landisville called Calvary that has great southern gospel concerts. Terry and I saw Legacy Five there. It was wonderful.

Terry really didn't like concerts. Said the music was "too loud". I always told him he was an old fart. But, he knew I enjoyed, so he would go as long as we stayed overnight and I took him to a nice restaurant for dinner. And, vice versa, I hate shopping and he loved to go to the outlets. So, we always had a special weekend of compromise in March. We would go to Hershey and see the Stars On Ice Show, have dinner and stay overnight, and then on the way home stop in Lancaster to go outlet shopping. Usually, I buy our tickets to the show a year in advance, but last year there was a mix up with the tickets and I didn't buy any for this year. I can see now that the Lord was looking out for me even then. I just couldn't go now without Terry. We always looked forward to our weekend of compromise. Anyway, I am rambling....

I laughed when you said ,"Anyway, I am rambling...."

That's not rambling, that's sharing. It's good for you and for me.

No one can ranble like me. :p

I also don't like to shop. I do most shopping on the internet.

If I sound a bit unfamiliar to area sites and interests, it is because I am relatively new to this area. I moved here 20years ago, from Southern California.

I do love this area. I am a snow baby at heart. I lived in So Cal because it was my husband's home. I never really liked it there and missed the seasons desperately.

I must tell you, in case you read this before you leave in the morning........

Pipes are frozen everywhere in Pa, and it's not just the age of your home. I went into Dunkin Donuts today, and they had NO COFFEE!! The pipes were frozen. They were giving out free donuts to compensate.

Have a safe trip home!!;)
