DEMONIC DOCTRINES, SEDUCTIVE LIES....

I TIMOTHY 4:1
‘NOW THE SPIRIT SPEAKS EXPRESSLY,
THAT IN THE LATTER TIMES,
SOME SHALL DEPART FROM THE FAITH,
GIVING HEED TO THE SEDUCING SPIRITS
AND DOCTRINES OF DEVILS.’

THE LAUGHING HERESY...

Charles Spurgeon mentioned a ‘holy laughter’. Many have seen or experienced such a laughter. When one who has been shamed from sin, burdened by guilt, finds the forgiveness and love of Jesus, there can be a holy laughter or joy and peace. This is good, and of God.

Jonathan Edwards observed emotions of varying types in his ministry. There was ‘trembling, loud outcries, and agonies of soul.”

John and Charles Wesley tell of a laughing spirit that needed a rebuke.
“In the evening, such a spirit of laughter was among us, that many were offended. But the attention of all was fixed on (one) poor (woman), whom we all knew was dissembled. One so violently and variously torn of the devil, one did I never see before. Sometimes, she laughed till almost strangled. Then they broke into cursing and blaspheming. Then stomped and struggled with incredible strength, so that four or five could scarcely hold her... It is important to note that prayer in the name of Jesus Christ brought instant deliverance to those under the spirit of laughter.”

There are legitimate and God-inspired times of holy laughter, but there are also, devil inspired disruptions and distractions of laughter.

In 1994, at the Toronto Airport Christian Fellowship (TACF), in the modest storefront near noisy cargo bays and air-freight hangars, the pastor, John Arnott, had Randy Clark to speak to his congregation
(Jan. 20, 1994). During the service, people collapsed, laughed uncontrollably. Soon crowds of a thousand packed the place. Clark stayed a couple months. By May of the next year, 700,000 people had visited the services.

The experience became known as the “Toronto Blessing”. The name was coined by British reporters. TACF prefers to call it ‘the Father’s blessing” or ‘the renewal”. The terminology ‘soaking prayer’ is also used. It was a physical phenomenon manifested by continuous laughter, guttural utterances (animal noises) for an extended time. Some believed it was a manifestation of the Holy Spirit. It occurred during preaching of the sermon, during the altar call, at prayer times. It can afflict one, several, or the whole congregation.

During a worship time called ‘carpet time’ by the congregation there, there would occur laughing hysterically, some falling over, some crumbling to the floor, jerking, twitching, screaming, swaying, roaring, barking like a dog, hooting like owls, crowing, mooing, oinking, hissing, etc. noises, dancing, squirming like snakes, hopping like kangaroos.

Originally, the church had been associated with Vineyard Ministries. However, John Wimber of Vineyard Ministries went to Toronto in 1995, and cut ties with the church. His decision was due to Hank Hanegraff’s attack on the movement.

One of the laughing movements main spokesmen has been Rodney Howard Browne. He is pastor of ‘The River at Tampa Bay’. He is also the founder of ‘River Bible Institute’, and ‘Revival Ministries International.’ He is called the ‘laughing evangelist’, and calls himself ‘a Holy Ghost bartender’.

Charisma magazine (April 1994 page 24) that he said:
“One night I was preaching on hell, and (laughter) just hit the place. The more I told people what hell was kike, the more they laughed.”

In ‘The Coming Revival’ by Rodney Howard-Browne (pp 6-8) it says:
“but I’d rather be in a church where the devil and the flesh are manifesting than in a church where nothing is happening because some people are too afraid to manifest anything. Every time there is a move of God, a few people will get excited and go overboard and get in the flesh....Don’t worry about it, either, rejoice, because at least something is happening. If someone comes ... rolls around on the floor, laughs in the Holy Spirit, or does it in the flesh, at least he’s not getting drunk or taking dope.”

Some in his meetings have been coerced into the ‘laughter’. With intimidation, humiliation, calling the ‘non-laughers’ to be ‘ugly’, and ‘sad’. Some have witnessed him ‘place his foot on their stomach and tell them to laugh.’ Some he would kick as they lay there. It was ‘laugh’ or ‘wish you had’.

The Bible tells us we cannot operate in the flesh and please God (Psalms 4:4,
Romans 8:8).

Jimmy Swaggart’s crusade in Argentina in the 1980's had this report issued:
“literally hundreds of people... would begin to laugh hysterically and throw themselves on the ground. They would howl like dogs... they would roar like lions... they would make all kinds of wild sounds... The ushers went and physically restrained them and took them out of the coliseum... they cast the devil out of them.”

David Wilkerson in his sermon ‘Reproach of the Solemn Assembly’ as reported in Charisma magazine in October, 1999, said:
“I weep when I see these videos sent to me from all over the -country. Whole groups of bodies jerking out of control, falling on the floor, laughing hysterically, staggering around like drunkards.”

The real enemy of joy is sin. The laughing movement does not call for repentance, in fact, many an altar call has gone unheard due to the laughing that has disrupted it. Sinner and saints alike are taken in the laughing, and many a sinner has walked out, exhausted from the hysterical laughter, but still a sinner, still unrepentant. If mankind resolves sin, they receive real joy.

Psalms 51:8-12
“Make me to hear joy and gladness... restore unto me, the joy of Thy salvation.”

“Holy hysteria” is the devil’s distraction from repentance. The adherents to this demonic doctrine say ‘receive it first, analyze it later.” Do we do that with what we put into our mouths? No... and the Scriptural truth advises us that we do not accept any Scripture without testing it by the Word first.

I
John 4:1
“...do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are from God...”

I Thessalonians 5:21
“Test everything, hold on to the good.”

The adherents say the Christian should lose control. Demons are enthusiastic about this, for they seek yielded vessels submitting to their control. We are to give control to God, not to demons. Self control is a fruit of the Spirit, and to yield your self control is not even what the Lord asks of us. God never takes mankind out of control.

II Peter 1:5-9
“But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith, virtue; and to virtue, knowledge; to knowledge, self control; to self control, perseverance...”

John Arnott, pastor of the Toronto church where much of this originated, said:
“Another thing that hinders is people pray all the time. Praying in English, or even in tongues... Our experience is that that [prayer] will hinder substantially your ability to receive. And so, I say to people, Look, don’t pray! (Said at the Holy Trinity Church in Brompton, England, February 14, 1995).

Prayer never hinders anything of God. We are told that ‘men ought always to pray...” (
Luke 18:1), and ‘Rejoice always, pray without ceasing” (I Thessalonians 5:16-18)

“God is not the author of confusion.” (I Corinthians 14:33). And this ‘laughter’ movement has been confusion to assemblies, has drowned out many a sermon, has distracted from the Spirit’s conviction at altar calls. Self-control is yielded in this experience, and all sorts of hysteria has resulted. All the gifts of the Spirit are supposed to ‘edify’ the body. (I Corinthians 14)

Some people use the laughing experience as evidence of superior spiritual character. It in reality, is an ancient pagan ecstatic rite.

Isaiah 8:19
“And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter; should not a people seek unto their God?”

The word ‘peep’ is the Hebrew ‘tsaphaph’ meaning ‘to coo or chirp’.
The word for ‘mutter’ is ‘hagah’ meaning ‘to chatter meaningless sound’.

In that time of Isaiah, mediums, false prophets, pagan priests, under the influence of demon spirits, would chirp, coo, peep, etc. like animals, supposedly speaking to dead spirits. The believed the dead did not understand human speech easily, and that these sounds were communication with them. Body vibrations and motions, and hysterical gyrations accompanied such.

The Pershitta translation puts it ‘familar spirits and wise men who chirp and mutter.”

This laughing movement of today is demonically inspired to hinder God’s real move, to distract from God’s real message, and to offer a substitute for the in-filling blessings of the Holy Spirit.

Biblical joy and disruptive hysteria are not the same thing. The wise men rejoiced at the ‘star’ and its revelation to them, They did not break into hysterical laughter (
Matthew 2:10). The Bible says ‘many shall rejoice at His birth’, and that rejoicing was not hysterical laughter accompanied by animal noises (Luke 1:14). The women at the tomb ‘departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy...” (Matthew 28:8). This was not accompanied by mooing, chirping, roaring, and hysterical laughter.

Witches often mount the ‘sacred’ altar, spit out curses, and laugh, howl, growl, and hiss. The laughing movement takes that same action, and tries to call it holiness. The demons that obsess those witches are the same demons doing this to those in the laughing sect.

Ephesians 1:4
“THAT WE HENCEFORTH BE NO MORE CHILDREN, TOSSED TO AND FRO, AND CARRIED ABOUT WITH EVERY WIND OF DOCTRINE, BY THE SLIGHT (KUBEIA, TRICKERY) OF MEN, AND CUNNING CRAFTINESS (SHREWDNESS, UNSCRUPULOUS DEALINGS) WHEREBY THEY LIE IN WIAT (METHODEIA, METHOD, PLAN) TO DECEIVE.”

Ephesians 5:11
‘AND HAVE NO FELLOWSHIP WITH THE UNFRUITFUL WORKS OF DARKNESS, BUT RATHER REPROVE THEM.”

What is the true move of God, is it laughter??? Let us search the Word and see from what the devil is trying to keep those ‘seduced’ by the laughing movement.

God is, and has been, calling for a time of weeping. The Scriptures predicts this call for the last days.
Joel 1:13
Gird yourselves, and lament, ye priests: howl, ye ministers of the altar: come, lie all night in sackcloth, ye ministers of my God..."
Joel 2:12,13,15
"Therefore also now, saith the Lord, turn ye even to Me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning: and rend your heart and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God: for He is gracious, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth Him of the evil... Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly..."

Joel 2:17
"Let the priests, the ministers of the Lord, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare Thy people, O Lord, and give not Thine heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God?"

Some may question, 'Why weep and lament?' Joel will answer this question in his book. Sometimes we don't understand our God, and His ways. For instance, Jesus - after what we call the "triumphal entry" on Palm Sunday, went to a hillside near Jerusalem and wept. Others thought that the day had been triumphant, but Jesus knew what was about to happen. He wept for the hypocrisy, for the instability of mankind, for the soon-to-come deception, and for the betrayal by one of His disciples.

We should heed God's advice that during the last days there is supposed to go out a call for the people to weep and lament. The book of Joel reveals a number of reasons for the last day saints to weep.

More to come...

1. WEEP BECAUSE SOME HAVE FALLEN ASLEEP SPIRITUALLY.

Joel 1:5
"Awake ye drunkards, and weep: and howl, all ye drinkers of wine, because of the new wine; for it is cut off from your mouth."

There are many who have turned to the world's escape of drinking, drugs, cares of life, pleasures of distraction, etc. Many Christians have been entrapped with these methods of making them insensitive to the problems of the day. Some think that if their drugs are prescriptions given by a doctor, then it is all right. Yet, they are not useful to the Holy Spirit in these last days, because they are dulled from reality by these escapes. They should have chosen to be drunk with the "new wine", i. e. the Holy Spirit.

Ephesians 5:18
"And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit."

Because of the insensitivity of God's people to the problems, the spiritual battles, the work of God to be done... in these last days, the Lord cannot get His church to do as they are supposed to do. We should weep for these who are "asleep" with the drunkenness of distraction.

2. WEEP BECAUSE PLAGUES HAVE DEVASTATED GOD'S PEOPLE

Joel 1:4
"That which the palmerworm hath left hath the locust eaten; and that which the locust hath left hath the cankerworm eaten; and that which the cankerworm hath left hath the caterpillar eaten."

Joel 2:25
"And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, My great army which I sent among you."

"Locusts" are symbols of destroyers. In
Joel 1:6, it is called a "nation." The word "nation" refers to a "people", not necessarily a governmental people. After Joel's prophecy many peoples have attacked Israel, and devoured the land as a plague of locusts would.

Locusts are the type used here to refer to the plagues, and judgmental destruction allowed by God to come to a rebellious people. There are four stages of the life of a locust, and every stage is destructive.

The scientific name for locusts is ACRIDIUM PEREGRINUM. The four stages of life for the locusts are mentioned. Each of these stages of locusts is destructive.

PALMERWORM is a word that is from the Hebrew "gazam." This is the gnawer. When they are first hatched, they are black and similar to large ants. There is no sign of wings. They develop and cast off outer skins, and molt through three more stages.

LOCUST is from the Hebrew word "arbeh." This swarmer is still in its first skin. The larva is the second, and still wingless stage (called by the Arabs, "debbi".

CANKERWORM is from the Hebrew "yelek". The pupa has full wing sacks developing called gowga. This devourer cast off the first skin, develops the little wings. It can leap, but not fly.

CATERPILLAR is from the Hebrew word "hasil." Often called the "Jared", it is the full fledged flying locust. It has long wings, and long legs. It is able to devour all that is before it. They can fly at 12 miles per hour. when fully developed, they are about 2 1/2 inches long. Their heads resemble those of horses. The Germans call them GERMAS HEUPFERDE [hay horses]. The Italians call them CAVALETTA [little ponies]. The Arabs call them DJESH ALLAH [God's army - compare
Joel 2:25].

Swarms in the gregarious phase are restless and irritable. On warm dry days when the body temperature is high, the swarms will take flight. They can cease flying only when conditions change (as a drop in temperature, rain, or nightfall). Swarms have been seen 1200 miles at sea. The usual length of a locust visitation seldom exceeds five months.

In February of 1915 Jerusalem and the surrounding area had a locust visitation. It extended all over the land of Israel from the borders of Egypt to Syria and the Tarsus mountains. Similar plagues had come in 1845, 1865, 1892, 1899, and 1904. A loud noise was heard before the locusts were seen. It was perhaps produced by the flapping of the many locusts wings. It sounded like the distant rumbling of waves. The sun was suddenly darkened. Showers of their excrement fell thick and fast.

Tons were captured and buried alive. Some were thrown into cisterns. Some were thrown into the Mediterranean Sea. When these were washed ashore, they were dried and used as fuel in turkish baths. The government of the day ordered every man from 16 to 60 to gather eleven pounds of locusts eggs daily and bring them to the officials. The stork were numerous in 1915, and greedily devoured many of the locusts.

In less than two months, every green leaf and the bark of the trees were all devoured. The fields were stripped to the ground. Even the Arab babies left alone by mothers had their faces devoured before their screams were heard.

Man has few ways to stop the destructive plague. People must try to destroy the egg masses laid by the invading swarms. Some may dig trenches to trap the nymphs. Some may use "hopperdozers" which are wheeled screens with the locusts strike and fall into troughs containing water and kerosene. Others have used poison baits. Some have dusted and sprayed swarms by aircraft.

Just as literal swarms are a plague upon countries, so Israel has been plagued by the Babylonians, Persians, Greeks and Romans. Over the generations the Lord has allowed these judgments to come to Israel. What one army did not destroy the next one would. Yet, God is not done, and restoration is always His ultimate plan. Christians of the last days have seen plagues also swarm upon them, but God is about to restore what these plagues have destroyed. It is time for the people to weep over the plagues of destruction. God is calling for a weeping time.

3. WEEP FOR DESTRUCTION IS ON THE HORIZON

Joel 1:6-7
"For a nation is come up upon the land, strong, and without number, whose teeth are the teeth of a lion, and he hath the cheek teeth of a great lion. He hath laid my vine waste, and barked my fig tree: he hath made it clean bare, and cast it away; the branches thereof are made white."

Just as Israel is seeing its foes quickly grasp great destructive power, so the Christians of the last day are seeing its foes also grasp power very quickly. Abortion (child murdering) opponents are grasping every avenue of power and threatening the security of pro-life people. Homosexuals are targeting Christian ministries. New Age opponents are quickly gaining power. The political scene is changing rapidly, and we must weep before the Lord. The call is being made by God, and we cannot afford to ignore it.

4. WEEP BECAUSE THE MEAT OFFERING AND THE DRINK OFFERING ARE CUT OFF

Joel 1:9
"The meat offering and the drink offering is cut off from the house of the Lord: the priests and the ministers mourn..."

Joel 1:13
"...meat offering and drink offering is withholden from the house of your God..."

Joel 1:16
"...meat cut off before our eyes, yea, joy and gladness from the house of our God..."

Joel 2:14
"Who knoweth if He will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind Him, even a meat offering and a drink offering unto the Lord your God."

The meat and the drink offering acknowledged gratefulness to God for forgiveness, and acknowledged that one owed everything to God. They were thank offerings to God for blessings. These offerings were called "free will offerings" (
Numbers 29:39).

The meat offering is not actually a MEAT offering. The word "meat" is the word "food", and it included grains, vegetables, and products made from them. It never was animal meats, but did accompany animal sacrifices. These offerings had salt, oil, and frankincense put upon them. A small portion was burned as a memorial. The rest belonged to the priests for their services.

The drink offering was always of wine, and a half a hin (3 quarts) was required with each sacrifice.

The lack of these in the last days refers to the lack of joy and gladness in the church of the last days. These sacrifices have been "cut off." We are told to weep because the joy and gladness is absent from many congregations. The lives of many Christians today are void of true joy.

Look at the congregation in which you worship next Sunday. Look at the misery and pain. Listen to the unhappy and sorrowful conversations in the foyer of the building of worship. Where is the joy and gladness that should exist in the presence of God? Where is the presence of God?

Joel 1:12
"...joy is withered away from the sons of men..."

Christians have forgotten that the forgiveness of their sins was entirely grace. Too many have begun to look at their contributions to the organization, and to their good works for others - as the reason they are saved and blessed. They have forgotten that they are saved entirely by grace, and that no good work or contribution has ever made God obligated to anyone.

Perhaps the evangelist or pastor has taught that God will owe you a 100 fold blessing if you give this or that. While you await God to repay your "gift", you will find that the meat and the drink offering are withheld. The joy is gone from many lives because of the lack of proper acknowledgment to God for every blessing as being totally unmerited by us.

The congregations, the Christians need to weep before the Lord for this horrible oversight. The false teaching that is so prevalent in the congregations and evangelistic crusades of today needs to be repented of, and weeping needs to cleanse away our false thinking.

Still more to come...

5. WEEP BECAUSE THE HARVEST IS PERISHED

Joel 1:10-11
"The field is wasted, the land mourneth; for the corn is wasted: the new wine is dried up, the oil languisheth. Be ye ashamed, O ye husbandmen: Howl, O ye vine-dressers, for the wheat and for the barley; because the harvest of the field is perished."

Joel 1:17-20
"The seed is rotten under their clods, the garners are laid desolate, the barns are broken down; for the corn is withered. How do the beasts groan! The herds of cattle are perplexed, because they have no pasture; yea, the flocks of the sheep are made desolate. O Lord, to thee will I cry; for the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame hath burned all the trees of the field. The beast of the field cry also unto Thee: for the rivers of waters are dried up, and the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness."

Yes, the Christian community should be ashamed. With the Word of God, with the latter rain revival, with the fruit of the Spirit, with the many powerful gifts of the Spirit... and still, where is the harvest???!!! Look at congregations today. they argue over the color of the carpet. Or they will debate the brick to use on their new building. They abuse the little ones of the Lord. They still chase out of the congregation anyone who wants to see revival and weeping repentance. They try to decide who should attend their "church" by how they dress, where they live, what car they drive, and what prestige they add to the congregation.

The Lord wanted us to bring forth a great harvest for Him. He wanted the same thing of Israel, but finally cut them off the vine because they yielded no harvest. The church of today is offering little of a harvest to God. Many congregations are void of truth, false doctrines pervade many buildings called "churches."

Churches argue, split, prevaricate about each other, gossip, criticize, etc. The rapture of the church is near, and they live as though the church is little more than a social club. While many churches are building gymnasiums, the hungry and needy are only a short distance away...forgotten.

Some altars are not tear-stained... some buildings have forgotten to put the altars within the church. The hunger for souls, the idea of crying before the Lord, the desire to learn the prophetic truths revealed by a God Who wants us to know the signs and the times... is not found in many... too many... church buildings. For this we should WEEP!

6. WEEP BECAUSE THE DAY OF THE LORD IS AT HAND

Joel 1:15
"Alas, for the day! for the day of the Lord is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come."

Joel 2:1
"Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in My holy mountain; let all the inhabitants of the land tremble; for the day of the Lord cometh, for it is nigh at hand."

Surely, the church of today needs to "tremble" for the day of the Lord is very near, and the church and the world are still unprepared. Time has run out! Many have played church, and now the harvest time is almost gone! Like the five foolish virgins, many are unprepared for what is about to happen. Like the five wise virgins, who- though prepared with enough oil, fell asleep like the five foolish virgins did. All 10 virgins slept... The church has slept in these last days... Souls have perished. Time has been wasted... The congregations need to weep... weep... weep!

7. WEEP BECAUSE OF THE REPROACH UPON GOD'S PEOPLE

Joel 2:17
"Let the priests, the ministers of the Lord, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare Thy people, O Lord, and give not Thine heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God?"

The Christians need to weep because of the terrible reproach upon us as Christians. When many invite someone to their church, the common response is ... 'NO! there are too many hypocrites there!' The problem is, they are right! There are a great many hypocrites, spiritual abusers, liars, perverts, false prophets, etc within many congregations.

Joel 1:8
"Lament like a virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth."

A virgin would not wear sackcloth to her wedding. But Joel says "lament" because the church is likened in the Bible to the garment of the bride of Christ. The garment is supposed to be spotless, pure, without blemish, etc. Yet, in these last days, here is the church... like sackcloth. Sackcloth represents poverty and mourning. The church of the last days is currently like the sackcloth... poor... destitute of the harvest that we are to offer to God... Weep! Weep! For the sake of changing this horrible fact... WEEP!

8. WEEP BECAUSE GOD WANTS TO DO GREAT THINGS, BUT IS UNABLE TO DO THEM UNLESS WE WEEP AND CRY OUT

Joel 2:21
"... for the Lord will do great things."

Joel 2:23
"for He hath given you the former rain moderately, and He will cause to come down for you, the rain, the former rain and the latter rain in the first month..."

Joel 2:24-26
"... the floors shall be full of wheat, and the fats shall overflow with wine and oil. And I will restore unto you all the years that the locusts have eaten...ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord you God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and My people shall never be ashamed..."

These promises are given to those who fulfill the commandment of the Lord to WEEP, LAMENT, FAST, AND CRY OUT TO GOD... There is coming a day when the destruction, the desolation, the shame, the reproach, the sadness, the plagues, the fruitlessness will cease. The time of the cessation of these things is when the Christians may cease to heed God's command to WEEP!

God wants to restore, to give a double portion of revival, to give a great harvest to the church of the last days, to take away our shame and reproach, to pour out the Spirit in a wondrous way, to show signs and wonders, and to give deliverance to His people. He awaits us to obey His command found in the book of Joel... to WEEP... TO WEEP... TO WEEP... The restoration will come for those who heed this command to WEEP. The next lesson will detail God's plan for us in the last days to ignite, to stir up, and to empower the latter rain revival that precedes the rapture of the church. It is time we study these details of instructions of the Lord.

The laughing movement is the devil’s distraction from this truth. We need to beware.

James 4:4-9
“Be afflicted and mourn, and weep; let your laughter be turned into mourning, and your joy to heaviness.”

Holy Laughter Video.

P.S I have been at meetings where there is Holy Laughter. The Holy SPirit is behind it, if is from the Lord. Nehemiah 10:8: The joy of the Lord is your strength. The joy you get from such a move of the SPirit can touch your life for months with unfathomable joy!

Uncontrollable hysteria is an indication of joy? I think it’s an indication of something else.

Of Course I have an opinion too!

From my personal experiences of being in the "laughing revival."

1. I cannot possibly tell what is going on in people's lives when they are laughing "in the spirit." However, I can tell you that 9/10's of the people that were in the "laughing revival" are not in church or serving the Lord, but for the small portion that were the laughers and stuck around well I am not sure they are in any better shape than they were years ago.

For myself personally, I wanted to laugh in the worst way not because laughing is fun but because a "merry heart does good like medicine," and because I wanted the "joy of the Lord, which is my strength," and I wanted God to "restore to me the joy of my salvation." In addition, I also wanted much like Psalms 126 ---where "their mouthes were filled with laughter when they came out of capitivity." I wanted laughter because I wanted my "the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;" I wanted it all because of an inner healing and I never laughed once and I went to those revival services on a daily basis, prayed, fasted, and done this for over 4-1/2 years and not once did I end up with "holy laughter." I gave up on the manifestation and haven't had a laugh in years but I haven't given up on God.

I quit looking for the manifestations and whether it is "holy laughter" or it is a result of lifting the mourning, capitivity, or some other event that GOD is doing in someone's life, I just want to let you know I don't care how God does it as long as they keep their eyes on Jesus.

Can there "Holy Laughter?" I believe anything is possible but I think it is more unusual than anyone thinks.

that is so sad that you haven't had a good laugh in years...This should be a daily event...

Uncontrollable hysteria is an indication of joy? I think it’s an indication of something else.

Well believe it or not speaking in tongues attracts unbelievers, so does the Holy laughter!

People say dont speak in tongues, it might turn away the seeker. But:
1 Corinthians 14:22 TNIV
Tongues, then, are a sign, not for believers but for unbelievers

Who said it was hysteria? Its more like hyperteria!

...Paul also distinctly points out that words which no one understands need an interpreter to edify others.

No fruit that is in accordance to the Word of God is "uncontrollable." Galatians 5:22 tells us that self-control is one of the fruits of the Spirit, and we are to manifest it; for against such there is no law.

I know it seems like a great deal to read, but please at least try to skim through those earlier posts I shared with you about the laughing heresy.

1 Corinthians 14:23-25 - "Therefore if the whole church assembles together and all speak in tongues, and ungifted men or unbelievers enter, will they not say that you are mad? But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or an ungifted man enters, he is convicted by all, he is called to account by all; the secrets of his heart are disclosed; and so he will fall on his face and worship God, declaring that God is certainly among you."

Now you see saying 'laughing heresey' is hardly likely to get a 'heretic' to read it.

What put you off it when you laughed in the Spirit?

Tongues? Aren’t we talking about “holy” laughter?

Uncontrollable laughter is often simply a psychological reflex action (like giggling girls on the playground) and can even be contagious. It is also a symptom of fatigue. It is also a symptom of hysteria.

Have you ever heard of the Tanganyika laughing epidemic phenomenon in 1962. Here’s an interesting article about it at Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanganyika_Laughter_Epidemic.

I never called you a heretic.

I simply asked you to read it.

The piece that you quoted in your three posts is very interesting, thank you for posting it, I think it is very on track to the whole of what the original question was.
However, before we call all holy laughter heresy, I think we need to go back to one of the first statements in the quote
There are legitimate and God-inspired times of holy laughter, but there are also, devil inspired disruptions and distractions of laughter
, I think this points once again to discernment, we have to use discernment. One thing that rings immediately against what was going on in the "Toronto blessing" was the fact that this "holy" laughter that included animal calls would even be done during the preaching of the word. I can not remember one time that a message in tongues and interpretations or a prophecy has been delivered to any church I have been in during the preaching??? I too have a huge problem with the mooing and barking, and even question how it got called laughing??? Mooing or barking at God sounds more like taunting and disrespect to me???

I have four children, for me as an earthly father I love to see my children have fun, to laugh, to play... I also know there are some boundaries that must be set and respected and when those boundaries are forgotten about weeping usually results. I have to believe that God is the same way with us, Does he want us to obey... uhhh yes... Does he want us to only come to him when we are weeping and crying?... uhhh I would hope no. The one time I had a "laughing fit' at the altar I was not overly loud about it, and I don't think I was a distraction to others even though I was laughing so hard that I had tears at the same time. The only way I can describe it was I was being tickled on the inside much like I would tickle my own children on the outside. I personally could not fake this, it would be like someone trying to tickle themselves, it just don't work. I think that real holy laughter is a rare thing because most of us don't believe God would want us to loose our composure or our respectability to those sitting next to us in a pew or that we could never gain enough favor with God to be able to laugh in his presence. I have not found anything that says we should be starched, stern, and sad all of our days. I will still say I can not see how mooing to the Lord is respectful of His sovereignty or of the honor that we owe him. I do hope that some day when I least expect it God will touch me again and make me laugh like I did that one day.

This sounds like a wonderful experience that you were very blessed with. I personally don't go for the "holy laughter" idea in general .... and definitely not moowing and barking, etc. ... but this sounds like it was a wonderful and precious experience. Thank you for sharing it.

P.S. I hope it happens again for you, too. :)

The Lord did give me a witness to how it can be genuine.

We had a Wednesday teaching meeting, and during the meeting a guys cell phone went off. The combination of him trying to get to where his phone shut off and the comments he made seemed to spark a laughter out of the women there. Well, the women were unable to contain themselves after a couple of minutes and had to head to the bathroom to regain their composure. While they were headed there, one of the women felt The Lord touch her, and she had a praise report about it the next service. She had some complications around her uterus, and GOD healed her of it.

So, with Him showing me His hand in it, I don't deny it, but I don't accept people acting like farm animals in the process.

Holy laughter is the anointing ... Jesus name means the anointed one ...

I have been to Brownsville at it's peak in 1996 ... I stood in lines a block long all day just to get inside. the first four days I could only get into the overflow room.

I spent two weeks there and it was my introduction to being slain in the Spirit and Holy laughter and people shaking all around me.

I didn't laugh, but I smiled and felt great inside ... I didn't shake, but boy were they shaking all around me, especially in the baptism pool. They were like fighting mad in that baptism of water.

I didn't know what to do at first. I asked the Lord what the shaking was all about, because it sure seemed like demons and we all know christians can't be possesed by demons, right?

Finally the Lord said, "I'm not going to tell you ( meaning what the shaking is about), because you would just tell me what to do about it"

The singing by Lindell Cooley was really good ... When everyone sang, "Yes Lord I'll Ride with You" it was like a room full of angels singing.

I left there with the anointing and drove to Arizona and then moved to San Diego where six years later I ran into a man named Rodney Howard Browne from South Africa.

He's the one that started his ministry with the anointing of the Holy Spirit and Holy laughter ... Rodney Howard Browne is the one that started the Tonroto Blessing, but that one I'll leave alone, because I've been discerning for a long time and it has a different feel about it, but that's just from watching them on the Angel channel.

Back to Rodney Howard Browne ... the first time I saw him I crossed my arms around my chest and I said he's not going to get me to do anything funny. He had everyone else laughing and slaying them in the Spirit, but not me.

That was the first night ... the second night his wife Adonica gets up and says, "We didn't think this was the Lord either when it first started, but it just kept going on"

I decided to loosen up a little and went forward for a invitation to recieve the anointing ... At least 150 people stood in front of that stage all lined up and he never touched us. He just waved his arm and said, "Lord anoint them"

We all fell down and I started feeling real good and then I tried to stand up ... No could do ... I couldn't move and it was beautiful.

It's been six years since I was in the same town when Rodney Howard Browne was there, but now I get him all the time on God TV channel 365 Directv ... I don't think you can post links here, but he is over at revival.com

You have to register first and all of his MP3's are available for free download.

You will be blessed, you might not laugh like the others, but you will recieve the Holy Spirit. The unction is the moment the Holy Spirit comes upom you.

Like someone said earlier in these post the devil is the deciever and he does try to manifest with the barking and mooing during some preachers services, but Rodney is the real thing. All I have heard in his meetings are geniune laughter.

Try him out ... I know I did ... Might take a week or so ... nothing to be afraid of ... He's a long way away for most of us in Tampa, Florida ... but he has a Holy Spirit Weekend coming up this week and his services are live on the internet ... revival.com :holy:
