I've heard Moon's teachings before.

It's important to remember that Antichrist will be a political leader, someone who can unify the people, and not a defamed religious leader like Moon. He's got to be somebody who can be respected by the masses, and Moon and his teachings are a joke to the masses. It would have to be someone with the dalai lama's stature in the world.

This is just me babbling, please don't take this too terribly seriously.

The looks of the Revelation story seem to indicate that, whatever proportion of the population may or may not be Christian by the last days, that there will first be a great falling away. This coupled with the idea that there can actually be a person doing great signs and wonders and that anyone at all would be able to believe in such a person despite the clear warnings of the Bible make it appear that the final days will be quite clear to believers, but quite obscure to others.

Here is where I will get off the beaten path. Ok, the idea of the Antichrist or Beast is that he will claim to be god. From the earliest times, we have been warned not to participate in idolatry, and there is a verse that specifically refers to idolators as those who worship the creation more than the creator. So I'm thinking that this will be a person who has ascribed spiritual power to this physical world. Such a person will have unified science and technology to the concept of spirituality to the point that miracles can be done without raising much of a suspicion concerning religion. In fact, the very idea of a spirit seperate and superior to that of the physical world will be repugnant to such people.

This is why I fond the pre-trib position to be untenable. The entire concept of a tribulation is a specific tribulation of Christians. Christs followers are then marked, and they do not suffer the plagues that happen to those who deny Christ. Nevertheless, the tribulation of the saints is specifically FOR the saints, having to do with the oft mentioned mark of the beast and so forth, so obviously this cannot happen if all the Christians have already floated off to heaven.

Ok that's my 2 cents, spend it well. :)

Interesting.

Let me think about the Tribulation being for the testing of the saints, though. It is an echo of the plagues of Egypt, which were a demonstration of God's power and idenity for the benefit of the Egyptians and the believers. They showed the believers that this god was THE GOD, not some phoney. They showed the pharaoh that he wasn't God or even A god. The Hebrews were not subjected to the plagues, but they witnessed the plagues. Some Egyptians came to faith in God because of the works of the plagues. Hmm, could be. Let me study and consider it some more.

There are many antichrists but only one Antichrist.

For instance, every nonbeliever who is actively professing against the Biblical Jesus, is an antichrist.

However, THE Antichrist is to come from a specific location (Rome, read to mean anywhere in Europe), is to rule the world for 7 years of Tribulation, and is a specific person.

I want to be carefull here. I didn't mean to imply the Tribulation of the saints was a test. Nevertheless, yes, it does have parallels to what you are talking about in Egypt. I would say the tribulation of the saints themselves would have more in common with the captivity. Then yes the plagues of the end times would resemble the plagues of egypt, and just as the Hebrews were marked symbolically by the blood on their doors, God's servants would be marked on their foreheads to be passed by as far as the judgements reserved for the ungodly.

Interesting. But those verses talk about generic antichrists, not the Antichrist.

If you want to know who we are talking about, search "beast" in Revelation.

Generic antichrists?

lambslove, if you are talking about the "beast" (Rev 13) or the "little horn" (Dan 7) you should call it that instead of Antichrist. This is part of the reason that people are confused and/or offering strange unscriptural ideas.

Susan, if someone is promoting false theology, wouldn't it be noble to point out the truth?

Indeed, the anti-christ will be a real person. He will be an incredible political power, not religious. Tho' he will need both the religious and economic influence of Mystery Babylon to rule the "entire" world in the future. Truly amazing, no one in history has ruled the "entire" world.

We already know that , but the beast in the book of revelation is exactly that ,  he is anti christ not pro christ .

Thus many christians refer to him as the Antichrist .          :)
